Advantages: Hair stays straight even in damp conditions

Disadvantages: The plating does come away eventually

I have thick, semi wavy/semi frizzy long hair and over the years I have tried various methods to straighten it. Back in the late 90's I got my first pair of Babyliss straightners and at the time I thought they were the business. Since then I have tried lots of straightners, all of which do a reasonable job until I go outside and then my lovely sleek hair returns to it's wavy mess.

About five years ago Remington launched their first pair of Wet2Straight. I was dubious about buying them as they sounded like a typical gadget that wouldn't work and at £90.00 a pair it would be an extremely expensive item to put at the back of the cupboard.

I did however decide to give them a go, mainly because I knew that the main problem with my hair was drying it in the first place. Although I carefully sectioned it off and dried it fully, the dry straightners would only do so much. In addition, my hair was becoming extremely dry and brittle from all the heat on it.

From the moment I first used them I have never looked back! The wide plates are excellent for my thick hair and the straightners have a heat setting on them so that you can control the amount you are using on your hair (albeit I have always used them on maximum!). You slide them down your sectioned off hair (usually a couple of inches in each section) a couple of times and you have lovely sleek soft dry hair. Once my hair was completely dry, it was actually shiny and resembled the hair of a normal person!

The best part of these straightners however is that my hair stays straight when I go outside, even in really damp conditions. I put this down to the fact that it has been dried fully at the same time as straightening it.

I am now on my third pair of these straightners, mainly due to the fact that after using them several times a week over a long period of time, the plating does tend to come away. Thankfully these have now dropped considerably in price and the last pair I purchased from Amazon cost me £30.00.

Summary: I can't recommend these highly enough

I'm surprised that GHD don't do Wet 2 Straight ones.
