Remington D5020 Pro Ionic 2100 Watts Hair Dryer
by scooch12
I've owned the Remington D5020 hairdryer for just over a year now. I purchased it in Tesco for £29.99 which I thought was a good price as it is a professional ionic dryer and has 2100W of power. Today it's even cheaper at £20 on Amazon! I've owned a lot of hairdryers in the past, for some reason they don't ever seem to last very long, ... even though some have been much more expensive salon style ones costing up to £45.
In the box
The hairdryer comes boxed and complete with nozzle and diffuser attachments. I'll admit that I've only used the diffuser attachment once and it wasn't a very successful experience, although I wouldn't take that into account as I'm not very good when it comes to styling my hair and I probably wasn't using it properly! I have naturally straight hair but with a few kinks in and I think this attachment is more for use on hair that's wavy or curly to define them more. Every time I use the hairdryer, it is with the nozzle attachment on - otherwise I find that my hair gets a bit frizzy when I'm after a perfectly straight style. The nozzle directs the heat on to my hair at a much more even level I find and doesn't just blast the whole thing.
Hairdryer itself
The hairdryer itself is black for the main part with silver detailing to it around the end sections - it looks a bit different than the picture shown here, as a silver part also runs right across the top part of the dryer instead of being all black. There is a hanging hook towards the bottom of the handle to aid with storage although I would think that this is only really useful in a hair salon, it's not something I use as I keep mine tucked in a drawer when not in use. The cord comes from the very bottom of the handle and is around 2.5 metres long. I have to say that this is what I find most disappointing. I know it sounds long enough but my previous hairdryers have all had 3 metre cords and the extra half a metre makes all the difference to me. I always want to sit down while drying my hair and depending on which room I'm in, it's not always possible because of the locations of sockets and the cord length - the extra half metre would have been a big help!
Controls
The inside of the handle is where the controls are found. There is a cold shot button, although this isn't something I use because I hate the feeling of the cold air blowing at me when I feel cold enough with wet hair! What I do like about this feature though is that it is a proper on/off switch. I've owned hairdryers previously where this button has been one where you had to constantly hold it in to use which I found annoying during my (limited) use. There are then three settings for the heat of the air, I usually use the dryer on the middle heat setting as it states on the nozzle attachment that it shouldn't be used when the hairdryer is on it's maximum heat setting. Finally, there are two blowing air settings, one is far stronger than the other. I find that it doesn't make a really loud din on the higher setting, but it's still not possible to watch TV and dry my hair at the same. I can always hear my husband talking to me though if he's nearby!
Using the Hairdryer
I have thick and long hair and for this reason, I always try to buy hairdryers based on their power because I hate sitting drying my hair for ages, I find it extremely boring. This has an impressive 2100W power and this helps to dry my hair faster. I find that it takes me around 10 minutes to dry it to the stage where it is completely dry and ready for straightening. I've not noticed any negative effects on my hair, as long as I use the nozzle it doesn't end up frizzy usually. I also find that the hairdryer is easy to handle when drying - it's not very weighty so I have no problem holding it up for the 10 minutes.
Fixed Filter
The only other feature that I think this hairdryer misses is being able to take the filter off at the back. As my hair is long, I've always found that the filter clogs with hair after a while and usually I've been able to clip this off to remove any excess but unfortunately with this hairdryer that isn't an option - who knows how much hair is now collected in the filter now and I just hope that this doesn't mean that it will start to play up.
Finally
I would recommend this hairdryer to everyone who wants a good dryer but doesn't want to spend lots of money. It's been out for a couple of years now, but that really doesn't make any difference to me - at the end of the day, it's a hairdryer, it's not exactly going to go out of fashion. I rate it four stars overall, with only the cord and the fixed filter letting it down. Read the complete review |

Remington AC5011 Pearl Pro Ionic Hair Dryer
by 1986pinkpink
I actually went out to buy this hairdryer after using my mums. I didnt see the point in spending the additional money initially on a hairdryer, afterall i straighten it anyway and I had assumed they all dry your hair. I was wrong, this hairdryer saves me plenty of time and I say that as it really reduces the amount I have to straighten ... my hair. My hair is long as well and my mums is really short and we both feel the benefits of using this hairdryer. I say that because I it seems to improve the condition of my hair, partly because I am having to spend less time with the hairdryer and straightners of which I have seen a great improvement, especially of the fly aware hairs.
It takes me approximately 8-10 minutes to blast dry my hair which is great when I am in a rush. It is comfortable in size and quite lightweight in comparision to other hairdryers I have used. Having straight hair I dont tend to use the diffuser as often but if I am trying to create a wavy look, then it works great as long as I have put mouse on prior.
The nozzle is thin which means you will also have more control over the styling of your hair and the cable is quite long as well.
Its difficult to explain the feeling but the only way I can explain it is it feels like it leaves a 'coating' on your hair, in a nice way making it feel glossy. I know there is cheaper hairdryers (and more expensive one's too!) but if you are looking for a hairdryer that does make your hair feel good and shiny go for this one! Read the complete review |

Remington D0100
by NicndDan
Yes I am a man and Yes I am writing a review of the Remington D0100 My Mini Handbag Hair Dryer, with "hand bag" being the key word here. Bare with me and I will explain all,,,,
During the year, at least 1-2 times a month, I need to stay in hotels overnight just for the night and hence do not require a large ... amount of luggage. I try and keep things minimum and as small as possible and a large hair dryer can take you a lot of space within a small bag so I needed something smaller! After all I have hair and love a shower at the hotel so need something portable, useful and preferable cheap!
This ticks all my boxes............
First of the visuals did not matter to me. Yes, this is not the most manly of products and it would take a lot of explaining but at the end of the day it is not what I bought it for. it does however look rather funky with the purple and black inter crossings and the whole design is sleek. As I said what is more important to me is the size and this is "mini" in every sense of the word, fitting into a backpack easily, a travel case comfortably and anywhere else you may wish to store it. The portability here is the key selling point!
Moving on from that the price is not too bad either and I picked this up on sale for a mere £10 and it is rarely over £15 on line which makes it a bargain.
The first thing that may hit you as you take this from the case is the fact that it feels solid, compact and durable. I have no hesitation in putting this in my bag where I know it is going to get pushed around and knocked about in train baggage etc
The performance matches everything has well but then again from Remington what can you expect! The Remington D0100 My Mini Handbag Hair Dryer is another example of this brands quality and this packs a 1000w power to it which gives it a bang. More than enough for my short hair and it dries in seconds.
There are two speed settings on the the Remington D0100 My Mini Handbag Hair Dryer which gives you some choice and the two heat settings vary enough to warrant the feature being there but overall I am sure once you start using this product you will agree that it is effective.
Overall in terms of a portable, value and effective hair-dryer for taking away the Remington D0100 My Mini Handbag Hair Dryer is idea in every way!
