I bought this hairdryer after my revlon of 5 hers had packed in, at the time I was just looking for a good brand hairdryer that was cheap and just do the job until I could afford a proper one. I had been lucky as had some vouchers for argos and noticed this was only £20 in there at the time so paid very little for it.
This hairdryer is a shiny black which means if it does somehow get scratch it would be quite noticeable, there's a few little blue bits, for example the cool down button which adds a little decoration to your pretty basic hairdryer, the hairdryer features of the babyliss are it is: 2200W salon hairdryer, has powerful airflow for fast drying, has 3 heat settings and 2 speed settings plus a cold button, this allows you to control the speed of which you dry your hair, and the heat, which is great for using the hairdryer as a styling tool.
When I first used this hairdryer I thought it was a bit on the heavy side compared to my previous hairdryer but after using it a couple of times you don't notice the weight. The cord for the hairdryer is also a pretty reasonable length as you don't have to sit right beside the plug socket it does have a pretty good length to it. The nozzle that you get with the hairdryer is also a great addition as I felt it was a great help when drying & styling my hair.
This hairdryer is a great buy for all hair types as quite a powerful hairdryer, don't know if I would of paid much more than £20 for it but too get it at that price is a bargain and would recommend to everyone for that price.
I purchased this hair dryer about 2 years ago now from Argos. I had owned and used Babyliss products before but not an actual hairdryer. I had read good reviews about it from the Argos website, it was in my price range and because I wanted one that would dry my hair quick this seemed like a good match.
It comes packaged in a black square cardboard box. There is a picture of the actual hairdryer on the front and at the top it shows the Babyliss logo and it clearly tells you underneath that the product is a pro speed 2200 salon professional AC hair dryer.
The hairdryer is mainly black in colour with a smooth shiny surface. It has the Babyliss logo printed on the side in white and underneath in blue it says that it is pro speed 2200w. Along the side that you hold it has some fancy white writing that says 'professional expertise.' There is a blue button on the inside at the top with a white snowflake which is the cool air button which helps to set styled hair. Underneath that is the temperature settings button, marked with 1, 2 and 3 lines (1 being the lowest temperature, 2 the middle one and 3 being the highest temperature.) so you can easily adjust it so your preferred heat setting. Below that is the speed setting button which has 2 options, the first one being the slower speed and the top one being the fastest speed. (which I always use) It has a black cord that is 3m long which comes in very handy. It comes with a concentrator nozzle for controlled styling. It is also ionic and ceramic which helps lock in moisture and give a silky shiny frizz free finish. It also has an AC motor which has long life and is very powerful as well as coming with a 5 year guarantee.
Price and availability.
It is available from may stores and online, including Argos, Superdrug and Asda. Argos currently have it priced at £24.99.
My verdict and own experience.
This is a really good hairdryer, it dry's my hair really quick without drying it out too much and I love the long cord. It is a little on the heavy side but definitely manageable. It was a really good buy and I would definitely recommend this.
I bought this hairdryer from John Lewis because my old Toni and Guy hairdryer had broken after a good number of years and I saw that the reviews on the John Lewis website were good. I liked the fact that it was a good price for the what it could do and it came with accessories.
The hairdryer was picked up from Waitrose and the staff were friendly and co operative. The packaging was in good condition so I was not worried about any damage, and when opened the product was in excellent condition and the parts were all there. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and there was nothing you needed to put together. The accessories such as the diffuser and blow-drying tool were easy to add on and didn't even require instructions.
There are 2 speed settings and three heat settings, as well as a 'cool air' button for setting your style. If you put the hairdryer on the highest speed and heat setting it dries your hair very quickly compared to other hairdryers I have used before. This is good because my hair is long and thick and usually takes the whole day to dry if I was to just leave it. Using the hairdryer it takes about 10-15 minutes depending whether I leave my hair in a towel beforehand.
One problem I encountered while using the hairdryer was that when using the diffuser, the instructions tell you to tilt your head downward to use it, making your hair fall over the hairdryer. Unfortunately the back of the hairdryer does not have a guard to stop hair becoming entangled in the fan at the back, and so my hair became caught in the back of it. This happened twice and since then I have not used the diffuser because I am afraid my long hair will become too entangled for me to untangle it and I don't want to have to cut it off.
It is a very good hairdryer but I would be very careful because of the lack of protection guard on the back of the appliance as hair can become entangled.
I brought this babyliss hair dryer as my old one has broke and it was on offer at the time from argos so i thought i might aswel try it out.
The babyliss hairdryer comprises of a 2 speed setting so either slow or fast and it also has 3 temperature settings, i have found the hottest setting is very hot and can sometimes burn my scalp. You can also press the blue button which blows cold air out which sets your style. The nozzle that is attatched to the hair dryer is easily removed and it also has a removable filter so it can be easily cleaned.
The babyliss hairdryer states that it has ionic conditioning locks in the moisture to keep hair healthy and to stop it frizzing but i cant say that i have noticed the difference if i am honest.
I think two bonuses for this hairdryer is that it has a hanging loop at the bottom of it so it is very easy to hang when storing away and another bonus is that it has a worldwide voltage which is ideal when going on holiday.
I do really like the hairdryer as it looks nice and very clean and it does the job but i wouldnt pay full price for it as it is like any other hairdryer.

I was looking for a good hair dryer and got this one on sale! I went for it as it was on offer and a BaByliss product which is normally a very trustworthy brand! When i first got the hairdryer out i realised the weight of the product! A lot heavier than any other hair dryer i had had in the past but i didn't see this as a problem.
The first time I used the product I was very happy! It has 3 heat settings and 2 speed settings, I used it on the highest settings to start with as that is what i was used to doing with my previous product! I had to turn it down though, the force was actually very powerful and a lot hotter than I was used to!
The product worked efficiently and quickly and i did my hair in half the time i had done previously (my partner was overjoyed by this) All in all very happy with my purchase and i would pay full price for this hair dryer! It works well for styling and for a quick dry when I'm in a rush! 10/10
After many years of use my Revlon hair dryer finally gave up on me and refused to blow warm air. Looking around for a new hair dryer I was impressed by all the positive reviews I read for the Babyliss 5541cu and decided that it was the model for me! What really swung it was the fact it has a powerful motor and a 5 year warrenty.
What they say-
Babyliss are a well known hair care brand and their products are widely available. The 5541cu is marketed as a salon professional hair dryer with a long life powerful motor. The hairdryer has 2 speed settings and 3 temperature settings including cool to help set your style. The dryer also has a cool shot button.
This model has what is known as ionic conditioning. When you heat dry your hair it often produces static that leaves hair looking dull and frizzy. Iconic conditioning emits negative ions to help reduce static, leaving hair sleek and frizz free.
Whats in the box.
I bought this hair dryer from my local Boots for £25 ish and have just seen that it is available from Argos for £24.97 and Amazon for £24.49. The hair dryer came well packaged. Inside the box was the hairdryer with 3 metre flex, removable nozzle and an instruction leaflet.A diffuser.
The hairdryer is a bit heavier than by previous model, but it is still light enough to hold comfortably. It feels and looks well made and I like the sleek design. The handle is well designed making it easy to hold.
The heat and speed switches are a rocker type design and are well positioned and easy to operate. I do find that the fastest speed is too powerful and tend to blow my hair all over the place! However it is great for my son's thick hair and dries it very quickly.
The highest heat setting is quite hot and I prefer to use the medium heat setting. This dries my hair quickly. I also like to use a blast of cool air to help give shine to my hair.
I am a bit disappointed by the claims that this dryer reduces static and frizz. I can't say I have noticed any difference since using this dryer. If I dry my hair using the hottest setting my hair still ends up with static and frizz!
I always use the hair dryer with the removable nozzle in place although it is easy enough to remove it if you want to.
I love the long 3 metre flex that this model has! It means I can plug it in and still see without having to remove my bedroom mirror.
The diffuser is good for creating curls and something I use quite often.
There is a removable filter situated at the end of the hair dryer that can be removed to clean out any fluff or dirt. This is easy to do and is fully explained in the instruction booklet.
Overall this is a really good hair dryer with a very powerful motor! I have been using it for several months now and hope it will last! However it remains to be seen if it really will last for the 5 year length of its warranty!
