I have had the Babyliss Prospeed 2000 for quite a few years now and it is still as good as ever.
I was bought this for a Christmas present because I kept complaining about how my previous hairdryer always got so hot. Unlike that previous one, I can control the heat which I think is the best feature.
There are three switches on the handle, on and off, high and low and hot and warm. The high and low button controls the speed and I usually leave it on high and hot which I believe dries my hair quicker.
There is a round button which blows cold out but you have to keep holding it down. This can be a little annoying as I would have preferred it as a switch as well. Occasionaly this button has become stuck but it is easy to get back out.
The hairdryer is made from a strong black plastic which can get warm but never too hot. The end where the heat comes out can be quite hot on the metal but there is no reason to touch there.
The wire is quite long which helps as I plug it in at the opposite side of my room and still have room to move around.
By the logo on the hairdryer is three circles which light up to show which temperature it is on. There are green, orange and red (just like traffic lights), which show cold, warm and hot. This is a nice idea but you can see by the switches.
There are different plastic ends that can be put on the hairdryer but I never use them.
Overall I think this is a fantastic hairdryer which dries hair quickly without being too hot.
I recieved this hair dryer as a gift and was originally surprised by it's size. It's quite large and definitely a 'stay-at-home' hair dryer as opposed to a travel variety. I don't mind this though as I wanted the hairdryer for home use and the quality and build of the product far exceeds any travel sized dryer I've used.
The hair dryer I own differs aesthetically from the image shown but has the same features. I believe the dryer I own to look better than the photo and presume the model I own is simply a more up-to-date version than that shown. My model has 'Babyliss 2000W pro speed professional expertise' written on it's barrel.
The hair dryer comes complete with two heat settings, two strength settings and a cold function. The cold function is perfect for use at the end of blow drying, providing a glossy sheen. (Google it, it actually works!) The cold function is also quite strong and is definitely more similar to the power of the higher strength setting. The lower heat setting is great if you have delicate hair or are simply cautious of over styling. On the other hand, the higher heat settings allows for particularly fast drying. Neither heat setting is 'too hot', both are bearable and dry hair quickly and efficiently.
I found the hair dryer to dry my hair better than any other dryer I've used. By 'better' I mean in terms of speed AND efficiency. I like to dry my hair until about 90% dry before adding a sleep-in mask (non wash out). With my very long hair (way down my back), it took around 10 minutes to reach the desired dryness. I imagine those with fine hair to be especially pleased with this - less than two minutes for a complete blow dry!
The hair dryer is quite heavy, so I'd advise going for a lighter or smaller dryer if you need something light or portable. It's weight reflects its quality. You can tell you are using a great hairdryer. It also feels very solid and robust.
This hair dryer is my favourite by far. I loved the look of the product (though differing to the image shown), the quality and it's result. A must-have.
I have had this hair dryer quite a while now, i payed £37.99 from boots for it but i bet it is much cheaper now.
As hair dryers go you cant fault its drying time it drys very quickly, has two heat settings and a cold dry setting.
The idea is you are supposed to use one of the hot settings to dry your hair then use the cold setting to cool the hair back down which is supposed to stop your hair being frizzy or statickey.
This concept does not work on my hair, if anything the hair dryer makes my hair more staticky and frizzy than if left to dry naturally, although i am not a big fan of heat products on my hair anyway it gets enough stress without adding any more to it unnessisarily so when ever possible i leave my hair to dry naturally.
My next door neighbour also dislikes this hair dryer almost as much as i do, it is very loud, it sounds like a jumbo jet taking off so i have to be careful not to use it late at night as my neighbour moans.
