      Very helpful

I'm really pleased with this hairdryer

It's been a long time since I had a new hairdryer - probably about 20 years! - and to be honest I didn't really intend to get a new one now. However, having bought this one for Christmas as a present for my twenty year old step daughter, she came home one day and told us she had just bought a hairdryer herself! I thought at first that I would take the one that I had bought back, but then decided that I was long overdue a new one so this is now my Christmas present to myself!

This Nicky Clarke Kinder 4 hair hairdryer is apparently made with 'Tourmaline technology'! I didn't know what this meant so I looked 'tourmaline' up on wikipedia and discovered that it is classed as a semi precious stone and comes in a wide range of colours. Still none the wiser I googled 'tourmaline technology' and had a hard job discovering that it helps promote the condition of hair, combining ionic, ceramic and infra red technology. Apparently it makes hair softer and easier to style which is exactly what I need! I have to confess that I am still baffled by the science, but with all that technology it has to be good.

On to the hairdryer itself now. It's a very smart and sleek looking object with a very shiny surface. Looks are so very important! It's slightly bigger than my old hairdryer and when I first started using it it felt heavier but I guess that's just case of getting something new. It's probably a medium weight and would not be suitable for people with arthiritis for example.

As I am right handed I hold the dryer in my right hand and the controls are conveniently situated down the right of the handle. These are very easy to use as you are drying your head but would not be so good if you wanted to use the dryer in your left hand. There is an on/off switch with two speed settings. There is also a heat setting switch with three different heat settings. These are very effective, especially the higher heat settings for faster drying. It's not the noisiest hairdryer I have experienced nor is it the quietest. The noise level is acceptable though with it being louder when you are using the faster speed.

The hairdryer also has a cool shot. I'm not quite sure when I should use it but my daughters think it is a lot of fun when I am drying their hair.

I do find this dryer very effective. It's easy to hold when attempting to style my hair and it also dries well which is what you want. The lower temperatures are better for styling and I also use them with my daughters as they do like too great a heat directed towards their heads. Added to this there is also a concentrator which you can attach in order to direct the heat exactly where you want it! I was very pleased that there were not tons of different attachments as well because I can never work out when I should be using them.

There is also a removeable air filter and it is very important to check this regularly in order to ensure that the dryer keeps working at maximum efficiency. there are easy instructions to follow telling you how to do this in the short instruction manual. This manual also gives some good information about how to clean and maintain the dryer as well as some important safe guards.

It also comes with quite a few accessories. The ones I have found most useful are the styling brush and the four sectioning clips - now I'm almost like a professional hairdresser! There are also two large thermal rollers but I really don't feel the need for these but you never know - I may need them one day!

Overall I like this hairdryer a lot and it does make me more inclined to have a proper go at styling my hair. It looks nice, it works well and it is also quite reasonably priced. At the moment it can be bought on Amazon for only £21.52 which I think is pretty good value.

      I definitely recommend it!
