“ Brand: Remington / Type: Hair Dryer „
Hi everyone, today i want to share my thoughts on my Remington hair dryer. It was coming up to my birthday and i had everyone asking me what i wanted, i had everything i could possibly need so started to look around to see if anything could do with updating. I noticed my hair dryer was very dated and i had lost the attachments to it anyway so thought i would have a new hair dryer! I spent a while looking around on ebay and amazon as i hate shopping in normal shops! and then stumbled across a group in my area on facebook. I decided to contact the person who was selling hair straightners and hair dryers and she was really nice she let me go round her house and have a look.
I was impressed by the Remington as it was in a black fabric carry case with a handle and had a card going all the way round it so you couldn't see the contents but it had a picture on thr front showing you what was in. The lady selling it was very good, it was a brand new hair dryer and she let me undo the card and have a look inside.
The hairdryer itself felt a little heavy, but had a nive smooth finish to it. Where you hold the handle can be abit arkward as the controls for heat and speed are there so unless your good at co-ordinating where your fingers are and good at multi tasking i would stare clear of this one! Anyway it has a really long cable so your not forced to be too close to a plug and you have some give on manurvering the hair dryer around easily.
The attachments that come with the hair dryer are a diffuser now i'm not into all that body stuff so the only time i use the diffuser is when i want a wave in my hair which works pretty well and i do get the result i'm after.
There are two concentrator nozzles one is thinner than the other, i prefer the thicker one myself and is the main one i use to get my hair as straight as possible and with little frizz.
There is also a wide paddle brush which i like to use to get my hair straight with and there is a round bristle brush which is perfect for getting a silky smooth finish.
I chose this hairdryer for my birthday present as i liked the look and the carry case so i can keep all my hair stuff together.
The hairdryer had to tick all my boxes and this one did, i feel this is good value for money as your getting not only a hair dryer but also the brushes and different attachments all in a handy carry case and also have the ability to hook the hairdryer up when not in use and it had to be a quick and fast blow dry.

I love this hair dryer i have medium unruly hair and this hair dryer is fantastic for me
A few months ago my hairdryer developed a rattle. This worrying noise grew worse until I was forced to stop using the hairdryer altogether. I asked my husband if there was anything he could do to stop the noise. He had a look but couldn't do much as it is, apparently, difficult to take out the screws out of hairdryers for the layman as specialist tools are needed. He also said that with an electrical appliance such as this he thought any repairs, other than something very basic, should be left to the professionals for safety's sake. I don't think it would be economically worthwhile to pay to have a hairdryer repaired so prepared to buy a new one. I had owned my Revlon hairdryer for many years so didn't mind too much, purchasing a newer model. ( Hairdryer NOT hubby!)
I went shopping for a new hairdryer and ended up in Boots. I think I might have been better to have gone to somewhere such as Curry's or Comets as I like to see clearly what I am buying, and more small appliances and electrical goods seem to be displayed in these stores than in Boots. Boots had a very limited display. In fact none of the models that I was interested in were shown. Well, to some a hair dryer is just a hairdryer (hubby especially) but I had a few features in mind that I wanted.
1. A hairdryer that came with a diffuser.
2. Two or more heat settings.
3. A speed of 1800 or more.
4. A hook so that I could conveniently hang the dryer in the space I have for it above my dressing table.
I narrowed my choice down to three or four models, all having the desired features. The one that seemed to be the best (although I was by this time, feeling confused and fed up) was a set selling at half price. It had been reduced from, £59.99 to, £29.99. I thought that Remington as a brand was probably okay. Also this set consisted of a black case/holdall containing a hairdryer with diffuser, two blow drying nozzles, a thermal volumising brush and hair clips. I intended to hang the dryer up but thought the carrying case might prove useful for holidays so that I could pack all hair care products safely and neatly away.
The trouble with this purchase though was that the hairdryer was packed inside the carry case with a cardboard slip around it (showing product details) and this was secured with a security tag so I could only see a picture of the hairdryer which didn't really show me as much as I wanted to know. With some of the other models it was possible to peek inside the box. I still went ahead with the purchase, which proved to be an error on my part, and I shouldn't have rushed into this purchase. I really should, when shopping, be fussier about what I buy. Even though thirty pounds isn't an extortionate amount to pay, why not get as close to what one wants as possible?
I used this hairdryer the next day. I had my doubts when first holding it as it felt on the heavy side. This might not be a problem for some, but for me, if I am using this for a prolonged time (usually it's a quick blast just for drying purposes but occasionally I will go in for a more styled effect and use the diffuser. At times such as these I am better to use a lightweight dryer. Well this felt heavy and it was long in its length. When the diffuser was attached it became even longer. The diffuser was good and produced gave a body and a good effect to the sides and front of my hair but, when it came to the back, well! I just didn't have the arm length to do it. This I was disappointing and I knew I wouldn't ever be happy with this hairdryer.
I also considered this dryer to be noisy, as was my previous model but, I did think that new designs should be quieter, especially as there has been recent publicity claiming that hairdryers can help towards causing deafness.
I thought this hairdryer would be good to use if drying and styling someone else's hair so that long arms weren't necessary when using this on another person (perhaps for salon use). I found this dryer awkward to use.
Another thing that I found irritating was that when operating the hairdryer it was easy to turn it off accidently, just by where my hands were placed on the handle. This is very annoying when using the diffuser, or blow drying with a nozzle attachment.
On the plus side though, it is powerful and dries hair very quickly.
I liked the blow-drying nozzles as they seemed well designed and of a good directional shape.
Although I found the diffuser tricky to use, owing to the length of the dryer, the finished effect was what I had aimed for with my hair looking fuller.
As to the IONIC properties of his hairdryer, I really can't say that I noticed any difference. Maybe it would take longer to notice? It is supposed to give frizz free shine owing to the 'ion generator and Ceramic-Tourmaline grille.
I didn't use the paddle brush as, after using this a few times I wanted to return it to store in its original packaging, as far as possible.
Changing this hairdryer for a different model was a lengthy process, surprisingly but, eventually the manager agreed to this enabling an exchange. Actually I received a refund and bought a different hairdryer from Boots which was offering extra points on my Boots advantage card.
In summary I would say that this isn't a bad hairdryer and I believe Remington to be a decent brand. However, this product did not suit me. I am glad that I returned it instead of putting up with it and never being quite happy with my purchase.
