Remington D2025 Hair Envy Volume & Curl Dryer
Advantages: Lightweight, good value, good accessories, nice looking dryer
Disadvantages: Price for some people
Last year, around November time, my old hairdryer blew up. I was drying my hair and it started sparking everywhere and then a loud crack sounded so I dropped it and fled downstairs. I dumped the thing that tried to kill straight in the bin and set about getting a new one. Luckily I had an old thing in the cupboard but I wanted a nice new one, so I decided to ask my grandparents to get me one for Christmas. I didn't tell them a brand or anything, so I was very happy and surprised when I opened ths on Christmas Day!
This hairdryer is made by the Hair care experts Remington, and is actually a box set of hair care bits as well as the dryer itself. It comes in a large cerise pink box, which is like a large square, but is wider at the bottom than it is at the top... I can't think of the technical term for that! It has a flip top lid so it is nice and easy to access and store the bits and bobs inside. It has "Remington Hair Envy" on the front, and looks lovely sitting in my bedroom. It is a really attractive box and great for people who don't have much space to store a hairdryer, the box wouldn't out of place in any room!
Ok, the hairdryer itself. It is actually a 2000 Watt hairdryer, which is one of the higher wattage hairdryers you can buy. I find this is plenty strong enough to dry my hair, and I wouldn't buy any less than a 2000W one now. The hairdryer main body is silver, with a shiny funnel where the air comes out. There are 2 switches located on the inside of the handle, one for the temperature of the air and one for the power. There are 2 options for the power; full power, and medium power (as well as off), and there are 3 heat settings; Very hot, hot and cool. There is also a cool button at the top of the inside of the handle, and you simply hold this in to blast your hair with cold air to set your style.
The hairdryer has a 1.8 metre long cable which is handy if your mirror or dressing table isn't near a plug socket. The wire is light grey so matches the hairdryer quite well. One thing I like about this dryer is the Ionic technology, which helps to reduce static from drying your hair and leaves your hair frizz-free. It also has a ceramic ring at the end of the funnel allowing for even heat distribution from the dryer. The filter at the rear of the dryer is removable via the grille at the back, so it is easy to keep clean to keep performance of the dryer at optimum levels. The dryer size is quite good, not too bulky, and size-wise its about 9 inches from the front to the back, 11 inches from handle to top and 4 inches wide. It's also quite lightweight which is good if you have long hair and take a while to dry your hair!
Now to the extras you get with this dryer. You get a translucent diffuser which adds onto the end of the nozzle. This adds extra volume and body to your style, and is easy to use. You also get a translucent concentrator, which again slots onto the end of the dryer and forces the hot air down into a rectangular nozzle allowing for precision drying. I find this attachment useful for making my hair nice and straight, or drying my fringe. Both attachments are easy to remove, and are made of sturdy plastic so should last you a long time.
You also get 4 soft velcro feel rollers, which are quite large in size to help you get volume into your hair. There are also 4 chrome sectioning hair clips to help your clip up your hair so you can dry it properly in sections...I don't have the time for this but they are a nice inclusion anyway! And finally, you get a nice silver Radial brush, which has Ionic bristles and ThermoCeramic technology, to help keep your hair frizz-free and in good condition. So as you can see, you get a good few bits included in the kit which all come in useful.
So do I like my new dryer? Yes, I do, very much so but there are a few things that I am not so keen on if I am totally honest! Firstly, the switches on the inside of the handle. My old Babyliss hairdryer had sliding buttons so you couldn't change the speed or heat setting accidentally, but on this one they are proper switches, and I am forever touching them, often adjusting the speed setting which is a real pain after a while. I now hold the hairdryer further down the handle but I find I don't have such good control of it, but it beats the power going up and down like a yo-yo I suppose!
The other thing which is a bit annoying is trying to get everything in the box to get the lid to shut properly. You have to make sure you put the dryer in first, then the diffuser, then all the other bits. This can be a pain if you are only using the dryer as you have to take everything out each time you want to put it away! If things aren't in properly, the lid doesn't shut correctly and it looks a bit of a mess. I guess this isn't a major thing but if I don't shut it properly, Harry gets his little hands in there and throws all the bits all over my room!
The dryer, accessories and the gift box is very good value, and you can get it on the Tesco Direct website for £34.99. I would usually pay £25 for just a hairdryer, so I think you get a good amount for your money with this one. I think Remington is a good and reliable brand, and with this dryer you get a 2 year guarantee, always good to have! I am very impressed with my dryer and am lucky to have had it purchased for me! It's easy to use, nice looking and a dryer that does its job very well. I do find my hair is a lot less frizzy as well since I have used the hairdryer with its Ionic brush!
