Veet Easy Wax Electrical Roll On Kit
by xxfoxyredxx
I love nothing more than a freebie and a while back I was sent this Veet EasyWax Roll on try out from Bzz as a part of Bzzkit that I sometimes get chosen for as a Bzzagent in return for my feedback and me letting the world know my opinions on the things trial.
A quick look around and about when in town shopping told me that ... this kit cost about £28.99 so delighted I was cos I would never buy this sort of thing at its full price and never have I had particularly pleasing results with any of the Veet Hair Removal products that I have tried over the years.
However I had never heard of a plug in wax system and as a qualified beauty therapist who loves waxing I couldn't wait to get my greedy mitts on it especially when I heard read that this gives 'Salon Results At Home'......a brave statement that!
When it arrived I was really pleased with the kit cos not only did I get the basic kit you buy but also an extra cartridge of wax meant to be used on the underarm and bikini area so I was so delighted at the prospect of being less hairy for up to 4 weeks (according to the information given on the box).
The Packaging:
The packaging of this is really nice and girly and instantly appealed to me. The box is large and pink and white in colour and you can see the roll on itself within the box behind a 'window' of see-through plastic and then on the front of the box we are clearly told that it is 'New' Veet EasyWax Electrical Roll-On Kit 'Salon results at home' and that it is meant to be 'Simple & easy to use' and has an easy one-click wax cartridge, keeps wax at the right temperature and ensures clean and even application and that 1 cartridge = up to 4 wax sessions then on the sides and back of the box we are told what the kit includes, we are told a bit more about the product, there is a quick look guide on how to use it complete with little easy to follow diagrams, lots of precautions are listed, the ingredients are given and contact details for the manufacturer are clearly laid out. Inside the box there is a huge pamphlet with all the information you could and should need to help you use this kit along with a step by step guide as to how to use it along with little diagrams.
Inside the kit you get the Applicator (with cap), a wax refill for legs and arm usages (50ml), 12 non woven strips, 4 post depilatory wipes, a base to hold the device secure and upright in when heating and an electrical cable and the system holds a 2 year guarantee. You can purchase separately the other cartridge I was given for the bikini line and underarm area and you can also buy extra wax strips from Veet.co.uk or try Amazon and other online stores and large chemists.
Using It:
I could not wait to get using this so I had a bath, didn't use any perfumed products on my skin at all and made sure my legs were hairy! The base is white plastic, the unit is large but still light to hold with a curve to its body for ease of handling and is bright pink and white in colour with a red light on it to show it is switched on and heating and to set this up to heat you simply get the white power cord and shove it in the side of the unit and plug it in after no messing about shoving the large wax cartridge (which has no real scent to it) into the top of it which is so easy to do and really is only one click and to the top of that there is rollerball, smooth plastic area.
We are told to leave this to heat up for 20 minutes. I did that and the rollerball wouldn't budge, after 50 minutes it started to move and the wax was really hot but it still was hard to roll on to my skin and came out really thick and pink in colour.
All that's left to do then is roll in on to where you want to remove the wax from and then you get a large white, thick papery strip and pull. Hold the skin tight with one hand and pull the strip in the opposite direction from the hair growth. I was expected it to really hurt and the first one I winced slightly at but have to admit that the pain really was minimal and after doing it a couple of times it really didn't hurt or bother me at all and the thick wax came off very well indeed. However my wax strips got very waxed up quickly due to the thickness of the wax and as they are meant to be reusable and your only meant to use 3 strips per wax section I was laying the wax back on my leg trying to lift the new wax from under the old stuff and ended up using all of the 12 wax strips...I couldn't do much else!
These did remove hairs from the root and I could see the roots and where the hair was removed from was really impeccably smooth as silk and really clean looking as there was no apparent hair root anymore under my skin and my skin didn't even look pink which I expected it to, it just didn't irritate me at all. However this did not remove enough hair and I was left very patchy indeed and in the end....well I shaved the rest off and stopped mucking about! That kind of defeated the object.
I did think oh well never mind at least I'll see if its worth trying again with if the hair growth was slowed down to where the hair had been removed from and as I stated earlier we are that we should be smooth for up to 4 weeks....try a week before the area Id done got stubbly again! I did have enough for wax left over to reheat for another couple of sessions but decided against it........I simply have better things to do with my time to be honest!
The only thing I did like well enough was the little packs (4) of the paper after care wipes that smell to me of rose oil and were greasy and nice, cooling and soothing on my skin and picked up any of the left behind bits of wax and sticky residue but even then I felt a bit greasy after a while but they turned out to be the best thing about the whole process but again you only get in the kit 4 wipes which means only 1 wipe for 2 legs per waxing session!
All In All:
In my opinion this is just another not very good hair removal idea yet again from Veet. Its overpriced though decent quality in feel but it just isn't effective and if you think your going to spend just shy of thirty quid and get everything you need in one box .......well your not so this could turn out to be an expensive past time for extremely mediocre results! The 'extras' are pricey and unless you know something I don't your going to need them!
I can't recommend this product. It didn't hurt at all, did work only a little and it was nice to examine some nice long hairs with roots on them that I did manage to remove but seriously save your pennies on this one ladies and don't get fooled into parting with your hard earned cash on something that as my mum would say is all hat and no knickers (meaning it has style over substance lol!).
I had such high hopes for this one to be a great at home kit but it really flopped!
Available from lots of online retailers as well as big supermarkets and chemists. Read the complete review |

Veet Ready-to-Use Wax Strips
by spanielize
Having long dark thick hair is ok when it's on your head - but there are plenty of other places that I could do without it!
I find shaving just encourages the growth, so as often as possible, I use wax strips. I usually just buy the cheap ones from the pound shop and finish off the stragglers with an epilator, but I noticed ... that Tesco were selling Veet strips at half price so I gave them a go.
Package & Price
The ones I chose were the regular Normal Skin but you can also get them for sensitive skin (my skin is as sensitive as a rhino so no need of these for me!). The usual price for 20 strips is £4.98 and mine were great value at £2.40. The sensitive skin ones are more expensive - full price £7.00. The Normal Skin strips come in a pink box, and the Sensitive Skin ones are packaged in blue.
Product
There are 20 double-sided wax strips. It says that they smell of Shea Butter and Berry, but I didn't notice any exceptional smell. Unlike cheaper ones, the shape of the strip is different - rounded at the top and two pointy bits at the bottom on each side - and this does make it much easier to "wheek" off. The pack says that 20 strips are enough for two half legs, but I found that one packet was enough for both full legs and bikini. You also get 4 little Perfect Finish wipes to remove any sticky wax left behind - these are great, you don't get them with the cheap strips at all.
The Instructions
The instructions say to rub the strips between your hands to help separate them, carefully peel them apart using the rounded bit. Apply, rubbing the strip in the direction your hair grows (hard when it is the back of my legs!), then hold the skin taut and pull back quickly! Finish off with the wipes.
The Results.
Definitely much much better than the cheap ones! They removed even short hairs and I only had a few small stragglers left to take off with the epilator. No great nice smell, but no nasty one either.
My Personal Waxing Adventure!
OK - waxing doesn't tickle, but I have had far worse discomfort on many occasions! Some tricks I use include:
* Have an anti-inflammatory or a beer before I start
* Lay out the strips on a hot water bottle of over the radiator before starting - it warms and softens
the wax
* Do this on used strips too - there may still be some life left in them (when the wax goes opaque all
the stickiness has gone)
* Plan a reward for afterwards!
In Conclusion
Definitely not as good as a salon wax but so much cheaper, especially at half price! Veet are far superior to the cheap strips, but full price is quite steep so think I will stock up while on offer.
I'm also tempted to try the new Veet hot wax (thanks for the reviews on this guys) as wax strips aren't perfect.
I've given these strips 4 stars - they are probably as good as you'll get for home waxing strips so I'm happy with the results.
Thanks for reading - off for my treat now! Read the complete review |

Veet Easy Wax Electrical Roll On Kit
by houseofberries
I came to own the Veet EasyWax Electrical Roll-On Kit as part of a Bzz campaign. If you're not familiar with Bzz, they are a company that send out products to try, then ask you to pass on your honest thoughts to others about the product(s) you received.
I've used Veet (previously Nair) waxing products in the past, they've ... always been the non-heated strips - I found these very good, so I had high expectations from this kit.
**What's in the Box?**
* Unpacking the box revealed the waxing device itself and cap
* 2 roll on refills - one had a wide roller intended for legs and arms. The other a thinner roller for bikini and underarms.
* 12 non woven strips to stick to the wax and remove the hair
* A base to hold the device when heating or not in use
* Electrical cable to plug the device in
* 4 wipes for use after waxing
* Instruction Leaflet
**Getting Started*
The leaflet was very useful in getting me up and running quickly. I inserted the cartridge intended for legs into the device, plugged it in and placed it in the holder (this keeps it upright while heating). It sat very well in the holder, although it could have done with the holder being a little more weighty to help keep the device sturdy. The device had a symbol that lit up on the front, to show it was heating.
Veet said to leave the device for 20 minutes then try a test area then. If not to give it another 5 minutes. I did try it after 20 and it didn't seem to be coming out of the roller very well, so as instructed I left for the additional 5 minutes. I then found that I could roll a strip easily. I was a little confused as to whether or not to leave the device plugged in now it was ready. There weren't any instructions as to this. In the instructions it said to leave it plugged in for a maximum of 40 minutes, so I assumed to leave it plugged in while using it.
**Using the Device**
Once the wax was heated, it was easy to roll a strip onto my leg. It needed quite a firm push to start with to get the wax rolling, then it seemed to come out in one big long line with ease. The instructions said to do this in the direction of hair growth. The wax was bright pink, so it was very obvious on my fair skin as to where it was applied. It felt slightly warm, but not uncomfortable. I then used one of the woven strips and pushed it against the wax. It stuck really well. I left a little bit of strip wax free at the bottom ready for pulling. I pulled the wax strip away from my leg in the opposite direction to hair growth. This stung a bit but only for seconds as I ripped it off quickly.
I was then able to proceed to removing hairs from the whole of the lower leg. I was amazed that each waxing picked up even very short hair from the area. The base was very useful during this process, so I could rest it in the base each time. I struggled with the cable a bit, I felt if it was a bit longer that would have made the process easier.
It was quite tricky to apply the wax to the back of the legs (behind the knee). But I did manage it, my rib cage wasn't very happy though!
**After Effects**
I was very happy with the smooth results left afterwards, much smoother than my epliator. The kit contained wipes to get rid of the excess wax. I've used these before in a Veet Wax Kit that just contained cold strips and found them equally as effective in removing the wax with the electrical kit. I needed to rub a little at bigger gloops of wax, but maybe those were down to my poor application. I probably should have applied L Plates before I started! My legs glowed a little afterwards, but within a couple of hours were back to their normal colour, but nice and smooth instead.
**On-going Use, Cost and Availability**
Veet state that each 50ml wax cartridge for the legs will complete up to 4 wax sessions. A replacement leg cartridge costs around £9.99 and are available on Amazon.
The device itself has a RRP of £29.99, it's currently available on Amazon for £14.99. It's also available on Play.com, Superdrug, Tesco and Boots (the latter three on-line and in store). Read the complete review |
