Gillette Fusion ProGlide Razor
by ginger321
Having spent many cheapskate years shaving with disposables, this razor was an epiphany! I was used to a good shave on day one from the old plastic ones, deteriorating over 4-5 days to a shave akin to dragging a rusty garden implement across your face.
The Gillette is not cheap - the razor itself can be picked up fairly ... reasonably with a couple of heads, but the replacement heads are eyewateringly expensive, but don't let this put you off.
First thing on a cold winter morning if the hot water is not as hot as you would like, these razors are a joy. They glide across your face beautifully and continue to do so for, in my experience, about 10-14 days. As well as being very comfortable, I now hardly cut myself at all and the shave you get is second to none.
The good design of the head means that it sheds the shavings well and is easy to wash out between swipes!
Replacing the heads is really easy - they just clip in and out.
***Watch out!***
Once they feel you smooth chin, Wives & daughters WILL use it on their legs etc... This will severely reduce the life of your precious blades, so guard them with your life!!
I promise, you will never want to go back to the plastic face knives again! Read the complete review |

Veet Easy Wax Electrical Roll On Kit
by spiritwood
Years ago I purchased some wax strips from Veet which looked like large pieces of flypaper. I tried them and found them not only messy but they were very painful and left my skin shredded so I did not try them again. I stick to a razor now (when I can be bothered) and this has been my method of hair removal for a long time. I signed up ... recently to a site called Bzzagent (a site where you get to trial products) and received this as my second campaign. I was wary of using wax, ie would it hurt? would it be messy? I read a lot about this product before I used it and watched some Youtube vids. Reviews of it seemed to be very mixed.
Hair removal via wax always looks torturous especially the ripping tearing sound as the hair is pulled out. I was not really looking forward to trying this but I was intrigued. Summer is coming (somebody please tell the weather here in Wales) and I wanted to give this a good go. The thought of not having to repeatedly shave my legs was a big motivation for gritting my teeth through any pain. I exfoliated my legs before hand with sea salt and then got ready to be hair free...
A PINK BOX:
The instrument of torture arrived in a pink box with shaped plastic insert. All of the bits were in there including the base unit, the cable, 4 x wipes and 12 wax strips, the Easywax gizmo and a spare 50ml wax cartridge for sensitive skin. I liked the look of it all although it is a bit girly for my tastes. There are instructions included with the kit which go through the process for using the wax on legs, bikini and armpits. (There are different sizes of attachment for the latter two I believe)
The EasyWax main unit is hand held and has soft rubberised grips on the side. The top part has a roller section which is where the warm wax comes out of when you roll it over your legs. To use the EasyWax kit you just stick the wax cartridge in the cavity and attach the power cord to the device. It sits on the stand as it heats up. I plugged it in and left it for the 20 minutes as per instructions.
USING IT:
After 20 minutes I tried to move the roller with my thumb as I had read reports that the specified time was not actually long enough. Sure enough it needed longer so I left it for around 35 minutes. You can tell that it is ready when the roller wheel moves freely and the wax is soft on it. I sat on the floor and with some trepidation applied the roller to my skin in the direction of hair growth. The melted wax is not overly hot but it is very sticky and is a pepto pink colour. It was easy to gauge the right pressure to use for even coverage and I ended up with a tidy pink stripe down my lower leg. I pressed the wax strip onto the wax, smoothed it firmly, held my skin firm under the strip and then took a very deep breath as I pulled the paper off quickly.
Amazingly despite the horrible ripping of hair noise, it did not hurt. Really. It did not hurt.
The instructions in the box state that the optimum length of hair to have for this machine is 2-5mm. Mine was way past that and maybe this is why the ripping noise seemed so loud. I repeated the process and it removed all of the hair with I no pain, only what could be described as very slight discomfort.
In one sitting and more amazingly during my first EVER warm wax session, I managed to completely rid my legs of all hair. I actually enjoyed the process and could have carried on. The pain factor for me was so minimal that I would definitely consider underarms and bikini line whereas before I would have been absolutely resolute in my refusal.
EFFICIENCY:
Being a noob to the world of hot waxing, the first wax strip came up and left some hair behind. I soon learnt that the wax needs to be nice and even and the strip should be stroked down with pressure. Once I did these things then each strip whipped off everything. There was a slight twinge of sensitivity on the top backs of my legs but otherwise the whole process was easier than I thought it would be.
Once the hair is removed you have small patches on your legs that feel sticky and this is where the aftercare wipes come in. These are wrapped in little foil packets and are very oily to the touch. They removed the sticky feeling with no problems and also removed the gunky pink wax from the roller of the machine ready for the next use.
On the box you will see that Veet call this product innovative and being capable of giving salon results at home. I have nothing to compare that with because I do not go to salons but the machine and the way it works is certainly very new in the realm of hair removal. Veet reckon that it is possible to achieve up to 4 weeks of hair-free bliss with this contraption and as of yet I cannot tell if this is the case. I would be happy to do it every 2 weeks if needed because I prefer it to razors.
SUMMARY:
I loved it. I was so happy with the results I contacted Bzzagent on their facebook page to say thank you.
The skin on my legs feels very smooth and I have no sore patches or rashes as a result of using this.
I know there are some people who have not found this product capable of living up to it's claims but for me this is a cracking little device and I will be buying more refills and strips so that I can use it regularly.
My only criticism would be that Veet need to include more strips in the pack and more wipes.
Veet EasyWax boxed kit inc wipes and strips costs £22.85 on Amazon.
The refills are around £9-10 and 24 wax strips are £3.49.
Veet states that there is enough to do four leg waxes per cartridge. Read the complete review |

Nair Moisturising Hair Removal Cream
by JustEm
I purchased this hair removing cream after i ran out of razor blades, and thought " for 99p it is worth a try". It tells you to leave it on for a maximum of 5 minutes, then rinse it off. So that is what I did. After the first initial 5 minutes, I rinsed it off, only to find that my legs were still hairy! It had removed some, ... but not all, and my legs (and hairs!) did feel really smooth. So, against what the instructions said, I put on some more and left it for a little over 5 minutes this time, hoping that it might work the second time round, but still, the cream removed some, but not all of my hairs!
I eventually found myself back to using the razors, after 2 coats of the cream and no success.
On the upper hand though, my skin was a lot smoother, and I found this cream was suitable for sensitive skin!! Read the complete review |
