Veet Easy Wax Electrical Roll On Kit
by ladyofcampfires
As a Bzzagent I receive a variety of different items for free in return for my honest opinion on them. Most of the time these items are ones which I'm happy to try but not things I get too excited about. Recently, however, I received one of these Veet Easy Wax Systems which I was extremely excited about. I'd been eyeing these up in every ... shop I saw them in for ages and always resisted the temptation to buy it as I was pretty sceptical and, in the back of my mind, expected it to be a complete waste of money. Being able to try this for free was perfect and definitely satisfied my curiosity surrounding the kit without wasting any of my money.
----- Price & Availability -----
The Veet Easy Wax Kit can be purchased from the usual places, large supermarkets, Boots, Superdrug, Amazon etc. It appears to be £29.99 everywhere it's sold although it does tend to drop down to half price every now again and I've seen it marked up at £14.99 in Boots, Tesco and Superdrug on separate occasions.
Whilst the kit does contain everything needed for initial use there are added costs for replacement bits and pieces if using this on a regular basis. There are four types of replacement wax cartridges, one for legs and arms and one for bikini line and underarms, both available in normal refill or a sensitive one. These again seem to be the same price everywhere and will cost a further £9.99.
You'll also need more wax strips, a box of 24 costing an additional £3.49. Frankly I find this to be a ridiculous price for wax strips and I would fully recommend Ebay if you were going to buy extra as you can get 100 strips for an extra £1.50!
----- What's In The Box -----
In the kit you'll receive a number of things:
1. The Easy Wax device and cap - A large, thick bright pink and white, curvy rectangular(ish), plastic self heating device. This is what you'll plug in to warm up your wax and this is what you'll use to apply the wax to the desired area.
2. 50ml Roll On Wax Refill - A clear plastic rectangle with white rolling cylinder on top. This contains the bright pink wax and slots into the Easy Wax device ready for use.
3. Twelve non-woven wax strips - These are standard size for leg/arm wax strips although unless repetitively reusing them I don't find twelve is enough to do two full legs waxes. The kit should definitely come with more.
4. A base for the device and an electrical cable - A white plastic base to hold your device upright when heating and/or not using it and a rather short length electric cable which plugs into the side of the device.
5. Four 'Perfect Finish' Wipes - Very greasy wipes which do an amazing job at getting any leftover wax off of the skin whilst 'calming' it down after a wax. Extra wipes come with each wax refill and can't be purchased on their own.
----- The Claims -----
Veet claim this kit will give you 'salon wax results at home'. The wax refills are apparently made from the same ingredients as salon wax and will remove hairs from the root, effective on hairs as short as 2mm.
The idea is you'll get the same results as a you would from a salon with a lot less hassle and a massive saving in the long run if you're the type to go and get a salon leg wax every four weeks.
Veet claim the device will heat up to the perfect temperature for waxing in twenty minutes and won't get any hotter eliminating the risk of burning. The roll on head will also ensure a 'clean and even application' with thin layers of wax being evenly released onto the skin for 'complete coverage'.
On paper it does all sound very impressive. I do prefer waxing to shaving, hair removal creams and epilating but am put off by the price of regularly getting a wax at a salon and I find typical home waxing kits to be completely useless. If this device worked as well as Veet claimed it did I would be a very happy girl indeed.
----- In Use -----
I have used my Veet Easy Wax device on a few occasions now and do have mixed feelings about it. In general the whole process is fairly easy however very time consuming. You definitely couldn't do this in a hurry!
First of all the wax takes a lot longer than twenty minutes to reach that perfect temperature as Veet claim. In reality it takes more like forty minutes to get there. The good thing about the device not overheating the device though is that it's fairly safe to leave unattended whilst heating up so you can carry on with whatever you need to get done whilst waiting for this wax to be ready rather than having to sit there twiddling your thumbs for forty minutes.
When the wax is eventually at the correct temperature the roller head of the device glides easily over the skin and does make a really clean application. The wax comes out in a straight, even and thin layer and is ready to have a wax strip put on pretty much instantly. There's no patches left so I never have to go over the same area again to cover any missed out patches.
Whilst the pain caused by this experience isn't really a fault of the product (waxing hurts and that is that) it's difficult to ignore. This does hurt and that's worth keeping in mind if you're considering using this device. If you're not very experienced with waxing, like myself, you're probably going to spend a fair amount of time waxing until you get the hang of it which does, unfortunately, mean a longer amount of time spent in pain!
As the saying goes though 'no pain, no gain'. But then I'm not fully convinced the pain of using this is worth the 'gain' you get in return. Whilst using this is very easy the results are not fantastic. I've waxed my legs with this twice now and both times I've had to run the razor over afterwards and a few little patches of hair remained. This does annoy me somewhat as I always think I might as well have saved the discomfort and just saved in the first place!
When I've had my legs waxed at a salon on a few occasions in the best I've been able to go at least three weeks before I've noticed any hair regrowth and even then I've managed to go another week without having to get rid of it due to it being so short. When I've waxed using this, however, the results have lasted more along the lines of two weeks maximum so I don't agree that this is giving you 'salon results in your own home' as Veet say.
I have used a sensitive skin refill for bikini and underarms and I really don't see what the difference is in the wax. The refill does have a smaller roller head making precise application easier and the wax strips that come with it are also smaller making it easier to use but the wax itself doesn't appear any different in my opinion. It's a different colour, that's about it. After ripping of two wax strips on my underarm it was left bruised, cut, extremely sore and still hairy. I was definitely unimpressed with those results.
My other complaint about this and the biggest influence on how long it takes get through a wax sitting is how quickly the wax cools back down once unplugged. I find you can do about three wax strips before the wax becomes too hard to use and you have to plug it back in to warm up again. And yes, it does take about half an hour to get back up the correct temperature! Of course you can use the device whilst it's still plugged in but then it becomes very awkward to freely and easily move the device around to apply the wax where you want it. Perhaps with a longer electrical cable this problem could be sorted but Veet don't supply you one any longer than about ten inches.
----- Overall Opinion -----
I think unless you're an experienced waxer you should probably stay away from this. Us newbies will find it more pain and hassle than it's actually worth. Ultimately I think the only place you're going to salon wax results is from a salon and this definitely doesn't compare for me. Having said that it's definitely the best home waxing kit I've ever come across and the self-heating device is very handy. The wax is easy and clean to use making application fairly pleasant. It's just a shame it goes downhill from there really! Read the complete review |

Veet Easy Wax Electrical Roll On Kit
by nile123
I am a firm believer in waxing and it was great to know that I can easily wax at home, mess free with the new veet easy wax system.
I was lucky enough to be given this product so I didn't have to spend 15 pounds out of my own pocket but after using this, I regret not being a firm believer in it from the start. I would be more than ... happy to pay 15 pounds myself for this product because it is great.
The kit includes the heating device which is comfortable to hold, a wax refill for arms and legs, waxing cloth and some oil swabs to wipe away the excess wax.
The Veet easy wax roll on kit claims to give you salon waxing results at home and I have to say, as nice as it is to lay there at the salon and get my waxing done professionally, this kit saves me a lot of money.
Setting it up is as easy as inserting the refill into the device and plugging the device into the socket to allow it to heat up. A little red light signals that the device is heating up. Although the wax is supposed to heat up and be ready to use after 20-25 minutes, it definitely takes 30-50 minutes to get the wax hot enough to glide on the skin easily. I tried it after twenty minutes and the wax felt rubbery on my skin. It still worked, but it is definitely better to leave the wax to melt a while longer.
Then, I roll the wax in the direction of my hair growth along the skin and pat on the wax strip, rubbing it in the opposite direction of the hair growth allowing a little bit of extra strip at the bottom to allow you to lift and pull the wax strip.
Pulling off the wax strip is still extremely painful but that is what waxing basically is. I was happy to see though that I was left 95% hairless and clean, my skin felt smooth instantly and I didn't have any sort of reaction. I love this product, in twenty minutes I can easily wax my arms and legs and be done.
I think I will be using this for a long time because of its convenience.
I'd recommend it to those who can handle a bit of pain. Read the complete review |
