Tesco Everyday Value Disposable Razors
by ask_eve I usually spend about £6-£8 on a razor, preferably a mans one as I find they last a little longer and can be better. I was staying in a BnB for a couple of nights when I decided to try these to save bringing my normal razor back with me. The plan was to take one of these and leave it there and I wanted something cheap to do this with. ... I grabbed a packet of these razors in Tesco, 13p for five. I know it's super cheap and wasn't expecting a brilliant, moisturising shave from them but if they did the trick on one or two occasions, that'd be 13p well spent in my opinion. The five razors come in a white plastic bag With the tesco logo on and basic information in blue writing. There's some sort of pictures on the front initiating that they're razors, I think they're little moustaches. The packaging is super basic but for 13p I'm not going to complain. The razors themselves are very basic. They're blue, plastic and very lightweight, especially compared to a normal everyday use razor. They only have two blades where most these days have three and the head on the razor isn't removable and doesn't pivet. It doesn't make a massive difference but you can tell when you're shaving. I used these on my legs and underarms. I don't always use shaving foam or gel as I find shower gel lathered up well is more than sufficient for shaving too. I wet the shower scrunchie, use plenty of shower gel (Soap and glory) at the minute and rub it on my legs into a white lather. I then proceeded to shave my legs. I found that the razor didn't glide very easily and almost felt like I was tugging it up my leg compared to more expensive razors I have used in the past. I managed to nick my shin bone and on my ankle as they're quite bony parts and where my other razor would pivet and go over it gently, this one just cut me. It wasn't a bad cut but I still ended up having to get a plaster when I came out the shower. Once I'd finised shaving, my legs felt much smoother aside from the plaster on my ankle and shin. I also had smaller nicks allover my legs and on my knees which weren't really sore but were a bit unsightly, paticularly if I'd planned to wear a dress. I didn't really want to use these on my armpits as it's a lot more sensitive there than your legs so i gave that a miss. I don't fancy cutting my underarms then using deodorant!! The results of these razors are OK. Not great and not awful. I managed to cut myself twice and had various nicks and a bit of a shaving rash for a while after shaving which was a little uncomfortable but not paticularly painful. They did remove the hair but not in the most graceful of ways. I'd hate to think what they'd do with a wet shave or even a dry shave with no water or cream. I wouldn't really recommend these if I'm honest. They did work but they're no good if you're going to be exposing your legs afterwards which is part of the reason you're shaving them in the first place! I've tried other disposable razors that are a little bit more expensive that are much, much better quality so I'd recommend spending a tiny bit more for the sake of your skin. If you'd still like to give these a go, they're available from Tesco for 13p for a packet of five in the shaving area. I'd also suggest you pop over to the healthcare range for your plasters at the same time! Read the complete review |

Tesco Satin Disposable Razors
by Wee_Jackie_163 One of the main disadvantages of doing my grocery shopping online is that there are often occasions where my chosen items are unavailable, causing the supermarket in question to send a replacement item of their choice. This is how I got to try out the "Tesco Satin For Women Triple Blade Disposable Razors", when they were sent ... in place of another Tesco Ladies' razor that I had selected online. This review outlines my experiences of using the product. The Tesco Satin Disposable Razors are supplied in pack of four, and the current selling price (as @ April 2013), for the pack is £2.20, which I do think is very reasonable in terms of value. The packaging for the razors is quite typical for an item like this one, comprising of an oblong package made of sturdy plastic, which requires the use of scissors to open. The razors themselves are attractive enough, I suppose, although I can't say that the appearance of such items is a main priority for me when selecting them for purchase. There are a couple of little 'features' that I do prefer my disposable razors to have, however, which are a 'flexible' head rather than a static one, and a sort of 'rubber' or textured feel to the razor's handle. Both of these features are preferred, for me, anyway, but I can't say that such things are a matter of life or death. I was pleased to note, nevertheless, that the Tesco Satin Disposable Razors did have both of these features present. The Tesco Razors are quite simplistic in their design; both their razor 'head' and their handle is made of rather thin plastic, although I don't find that this feels flimsy or too 'fragile' during use. The handle is made of white plastic, but the main 'body' of the front of the handle houses a rubber section within it, that is coloured in a bright pink shade. The razor 'head' contains a "Triple Blade" design, of course, and I find that the head will 'pivot' slightly during use. During use, I have found that the rubber section contained on the razor's handle allows me to maintain a firm and steady grip, meaning that the razor doesn't slip around during use. I have found that I am able to keep my grip on the razor quite securely, even if my hands have shaving gel or water on them. I find too that the razors are quite lightweight, so they don't feel clumsy or cumbersome during use, allowing me to keep full control during my usual shaving routine. The last razors I was using had quite a strangely-shaped 'head', and this felt quite cumbersome during use. The Tesco Satin razors, in comparison, are easy to control and manoeuvre over the skin's surface, as they feel so light to use, but also because their head is much neater in size, allowing the razor to reach easily into the body's natural contours, where required. Another plus-point I have found when considering the design of the razor's head, is the fact that it has a "Unique pivoting head with 3 blades" as described on the product's packaging. I have found that the head pivots quite easily, allowing for a smoother, easier 'glide' across the skin's surface during shaving. This allows the razors to feel easier to use than other razors that have static heads that do not move. Such razors feel slightly less 'free' in their movements, meaning that some little areas can be 'missed' during shaving, requiring me to go over them again. I have found that the razors' blades seem to be of a premium quality, as they work effortlessly and without fuss. After use, skin is left hair free and smooth, with the need to 're-shave' any areas or patches being a rare occurrence. I don't find that the razors leave behind a sort of 'patchy' result, which of course would probably render them pretty useless! The product's packaging informs me that the blade contains a "Lubricating Strip with botanical oils" but I have to be honest and say that I didn't really notice much benefit from this addition to the razor. It's possible, I suppose, that my skin has benefited from its addition without my realising it, but in terms of the claim on the packaging that states; "Lubricating strip with grape seed and jojoba oil to moisturise and soften", I can't say that I find this to be particularly evident and in actual fact I was only aware of this addition as I removed the final razor from the pack for use, with the previous three having been used and replaced with another from the package without me being aware of the strip at all. In terms of moisturising or, indeed, softening my skin, I can't honestly say that I have noticed any difference to the condition - or dryness - of my skin after using these razors. That is to say that I feel my skin still requires a generous application of a good-quality moisturiser or body cream product after shaving, irrespective of whether the Tesco Satin Razors have been used or not. I didn't suffer anything in the way of excessive cuts or nicks during use, and in actual fact I found the Tesco razors were surprisingly gentle on the skin, being suitable for use on my very sensitive skin and causing nothing in the way of excessive irritation. It is true that my underarm area still felt quite 'tingly' after shaving here, but this is common practice, and certainly this result is commonplace with most razors that I use on a regular basis. Taking these results into account, I do feel these particular razors are suitable for those consumers who, like me, suffer with sensitive skin. For the price I paid, I am more than happy with the performance of these little razors. True, they don't offer anything particularly innovative or 'different', but neither did their performance feel under par or disappointing. For the price I paid, I had been expecting a sort of 'budget' type of razor which I really am not very fond of, but instead, I found these little razors performed much better than this, exceeding my expectations. As a result, I feel that full marks are more than deserving in the Dooyoo product rating score, and I would buy the Tesco Satin Razors again. Read the complete review |

Tesco Everyday Value Disposable Razors
by europe-chick I really really should have known better than to buy a packet of disposable razors for just 13 pence. What on earth was I thinking, clearly I wasn't thinking and they somehow ended up in my trolley in the supermarket. Well now they've ended up in the bin, and I certainly won't be making that mistake again. I bought the Tesco ... Everyday Value disposable razors, you get 5 disposable razors in the packet, and they cost just 13 pence - for the whole packet of 5!! When you compare this to the price of other disposable razors such as Gillette or Wilkinson Sword then you think that you're saving an absolute fortune. You're not saving a fortune believe you me, as these are absolutely terrible and virtually unusable in my opinion. So these are the little plastic disposable razors, they are twin blade razors (I always buy the triple blade razors - so this should have been the first set of alarm bells going off and signalling to me not to buy them), and they don't have the pivoting head - the head on these razors is fixed and doesn't move (this should have been the second set of alarm bells going off - as I always buy razors with the pivoting heads). I decided to give them a go anyway once I'd opened the packet and discovered the twin blades and the fixed heads, as I figured that they probably wouldn't be that bad, I knew that they wouldn't be brilliant but I honestly didn't realise just how bad they were going to be. The razors themselves are quite small, and they do have quite a small head. They do come with the little plastic guard to cover the blades though, so if you do actually get on with these razors then you can keep the blades covered in between uses. So legs first, well actually legs was as far as it got. After tearing up my legs there was no way on this earth I was going to attempt to use these under my arms. I alternate between using shaving foam/gels, just my regular shower gel, and even conditioner as my saving 'foam'. I figured that I'd give the value razors a helping hand by using shaving foam. I'm normally quite quick at shaving my legs, especially when using shaving foam as I can see where I've shaved, and where I'll still got to do. It seemed to take forever to shave my legs using one of these razors as it seemed to just scrape across my legs rather than glide across my legs like the more expensive disposable razors do. I ending up nicking one ankle a couple of times, and actually taking a great big gouge out of the other ankle, I also ended up with quite a few nicks and scratches on each leg. The worst injury by far though was to a blood blister that I have on the side of one leg - I'm in my 30's and so I've been shaving my legs for a long time now, and I've never ever nicked or cut the blood blister, ever. Razors just normally glide over the top of it and don't affect if whatsoever. However the value razor just took the whole top of it off completely, it was gushing blood, it was honestly like a scene from Psycho in my shower! I couldn't stop the bleeding at all, I was dripping a trail of blood around the house by this point. I literally couldn't stop the bleeding and couldn't even get dressed as each time I put a plaster over it the plaster was soaked through within minutes. I actually debated whether to go to A&E it was that bad. When I looked at my legs afterwards they were still actually quite stubbly, and there was a kind of razor rash over big patches of my legs, I also had quite a few nicks and cuts on my legs too. All in all not the best experience with the Tesco Everyday Value disposable razors, and certainly not one that I want to repeat, hence why I've thrown the razors in the bin. I certainly can't recommend them, and I won't be buying them again no matter how cheap they are or how much money they'll save me. Read the complete review |
