      Does exactly what it says

About 18 months ago I decided after great thought that I'd be brave and invest in an epilator. I was wanting longer lasting results than shaving and had found that home waxing strips were messy and useless. However after a short while using the epilator and despite regularly exfoliating I noticed that I was getting ingrowning hairs mainly on my knees.

I did some research and found that Boots sold an ingrown hair minimiser so on my next visit I bought some.

Boots Smooth Naturally Ingrown Hair Minimiser is only available at Boots stores or Boots online and is packaged exactly as the picture above. It comes in 100ml for £7.99 and has a 24 month shelf life. Now I can't remember how much I paid for mine as it was over a year ago but I'm certain I bought it on offer because I wouldn't have paid that price for something I hadn't tried before. Up until a few days ago Boots had this on offer for £2.00!! Wish I'd known because I would have stocked up.

The idea of the product is to 'help minimise ingrown hairs and prevents new ones from reappearing'. On further reading on the back it also helps reduce 'shaving bumps and irritations from hair removal products'

This minimiser is a clear 'wet' gel; what I mean by 'wet' is it's very absorbent and non greasy; imagine thick water and contains chamomile and honey to help sooth and nourish your skin. It has a natural / fresh aroma that is very pleasant.

You apply to the area you want to treat with cotton wool twice a day for no more than 5 days to treat existing ingrown hair. It doesn't make the hair disappear it just gently exfoliates the skin to allow the hair to grow through the skin as normal. You then need to leave 24 hrs after using the gel before attempting hair removal.

I have to say that I was sceptical that a gel was going to do any good but I have nothing but praise for this product it really does work and my knees are now fine and I only really top up with this treatment as I feel it necessary. This has meant that paying out £7.99 is in fact a good price because a little goes along way and this lasts for months.

The product is also great for shaving bumps and irritations as mentioned earlier and I tend to use this product more for this reason now than for ingrowing hairs. Anyone who's shaved, waxed or epilatored a delicate area like underarms or bikini line will know that shaving bumps are common side effect, unpleasant to look at and quite painful. Oh and before I forget; for all you gents out there that suffer from shaving rashes under your chin / jaw line; this is for you too.

This has a great cooling effect on the problem area after whatever hair removal method you use and any redness is visibly minimised and any irritation soothed.

I've had great results and can't fault the product because it really does what it says it does.

This is highly recommended so try not to be put off by the price.
