Advantages: Lovely quality and really sharp blades
Disadvantages: The replacement blades are far too expensive
As far as I am concerned there is only one razor to use for home hair removal and that is venus embrace by Gillette. I have been using my Gillette venus for years and although I have at various times tried other razors I have always came back to the venus as it is in my opinion the best razor currently on the market.
The razor is purple in colour and the handle has a rubberised soft grip handle meaning that I an hold it securely and it doesn't slip or slide in my hand even when it is wet. It also comes with a holde for the razor and blades that has a suction cup for sticking to the bathroom wall which is really convenient.
The razor is reusable meaning that you can buy replacement blades and they just click into place and then press the little button to pop them off when they are finished. The heads have 5 dfferent blades which also have a moisurising strip to help the blades glide over the skin and also leave it feeling moisturised.
The difference in quality between this and the throw away razors is amazing and it always give me a really close shave and I only ever have to go over my legs once as they get all the hairs on the first go.
I always feel so much more secure whilst using the venus as it doesn't nick and cut my skin like the disposable baldes do so I can also use it on more delicate area where I would never dream of using a cheap razor.
It is also definately more comfortable afterwards which I'm not sure is ecause of the moisture strip or because the blades are so sharp but my skin doesn't feel as tender after shaving with my venus. Stubble is kept to an absolutel minimum and my legs feel completely smooth to the touch and the hair is kept off for a few days instead of starting to reappear within a day.
The only negative thing I can say about the Venus Embrace is that the replacement blades are so expensive. The Vensus embrace cost me £8.99 which also included one head for the razor and this really isn't a bad price for something that is so good but the replacement blades are over £15 for only 6 which makes the Vensu embrace an expensive item to own especially as the heads need replacing every couple of weeks or so depending on how often I use it.
Although the replacement heads are so expensive it is a price I am willing to pay for not only smooth legs but also peace of mind that I am not going to cut my legs to ribbons whilst shaving them.
Summary: A brilliant razor but expensive blades
