Advantages: Its a 2 in 1!

Disadvantages: Its a 2 in 1 that didnt really make a difference.

I never bother to pull out shaving gel or foam and shave my legs, there just never seems to be the time for a luxury for that, so I always end up, running my blade over my legs while in the shower and just using normal shower gel.
For some reason my skin, although sensitive to perfumes and strong scented shower gels, is immune to blades, and I cant ever remember a time I got a nick.

So I have never felt the need to buy anything special for this routine, but not feeling the need is a moot point when you love to treat yourself and you find a bargain... So two euros poorer but with a brand new bottle of Johnsons silky shave I decided to see what this was all about.

About:

This product comes in a 250 ml bottle and in three different versions: Comforting, Nourishing and Refreshing.
I bought the Comforting version, which comes in a pink bottle with a snap top.
The product description claims that it works in two ways:

1. as you cleanse, skin conditioners enrich your skin with moisture that lasts 24 hours.

2. the rich, creamy lather ensures an extra smooth shave that helps prevent nicks and cuts.

The shower gel is actually a "cream", as the consistency is similar to that of lotion and is not very runny. The smell is nondescript, and it says it contains Aloe Vera, which does not have a strong smell but rather a light freshness, so this would contribute to the lack of an identifiable smell.

Application:

I used this instead of my regular shower gel and noticed that it didn't foam up as I had expected, but rather was like a thick cream that reminded me of silky shaving foam. I didn't feel like it "cleaned" as well as my regular shower gel as it left a soft "residue/coating" and my skin did not feel washed. It is hard to describe but as a soap to clean your body I didn't like it.

As a shaving cream it was pretty good, but not much different from my regular shower gel either. Because it was a creamy consistency it didn't wash off immediately and so was easy to shave with, even with the water still running.
It rinsed off well and my legs did feel very soft, but since I had never had problems with shaving with regular shower gel or even with just water, I didn't notice much of a difference.

Conclusion:

Since I don't have dry skin, and it is easy for me to shave even "dry" I didn't feel like this product was necessary for me, I gave it to my Mom who absolutely loves it, so obviously it suits some.
As a soap to clean your skin from dirt, sweat and other impurities I didn't feel it was up to par, but as a shower friendly shaving gel I thought it held up quite well, and created a nice soft protective cover between your leg and the blade.

Three stars for its use in the shower, minus two because it didn't really make much of a difference for me, and there was no agreeable smell to compensate.

Summary: A shaving gel and shower cream in one.
