Nair Sensitive Hair Removal Cream
Advantages: It did take the hair off.
Disadvantages: Itching, rash, spots and general discomfort!
I am not a big lover of hair removal creams I tend to stick with shaving or waxing but I have used Nair before a good few times. The Nair I mainly used was the original one but when I saw this one advertised as sensitive I figured it would be better for my skin so I grabbed a couple of tubes as they were on offer (buy one get one half price).
My intention was to use some for my legs that night and then they would just be there when I needed them but as we were just about to set of on holiday my fiancée decided he was going to do his chest and go smooth for the beach. So I applied it to my legs and whilst waiting for it to go to work I applied it to his chest for him.
I left mine the recommended time 5-6 minutes then tested a small area as instructed, the hair had not started to come off so I left for a further few minutes (they tell you no longer than 12 minutes in total) and this time the hair was coming off so following the instructions I showered off the cream without rubbing wiping only the more stubborn areas gently and my legs were indeed quite smooth.
I noticed though an itch which I had never had with the original Nair and my skin looked a little red but it was nothing too serious so I just forgot about it and got on with what I was doing. Meanwhile my fiancée was in the bathroom taking the cream off his chest after about 10-12 minutes of having it on. He was shouting things to me like what the bloody hell do they put in this stuff and I am sure this is taking my skin off not just the hair.
I thought he was just being a big girls blouse till I saw the state of his chest, he had come out in a bright red rash and it looked really sore. He showered and gave his skin a good wash and then I applied some moisturising cream for him but he was still complaining about the itch being unbearable and by this time my legs had again started to itch badly.
Neither of us is prone to being sensitive to products and I have never before had any problems with other Nair products but here we were with blotchy, itchy, red bodies because of this stuff. To cut a long story short my itchy legs were gone by the morning along with most of the redness. My fiancées itch had also gone but the redness had stayed on along with dozens of spots that were now appearing on his chest. By the time we arrived on holiday there was without any word of a lie not one bit of my fiancées chest that was not covered in spots so for the first 4 days of our holiday he never had his shirt off.
Should you still want to know a bit more about this product after reading this then I can tell you that it comes in a 200ml tube which when on the shelf is inside a pink and white box with the name Nair in big writing at the top and it has a small green bar below that tells you that it is the sensitive version (well supposedly) on the back it has the following claim "Nair Sensitive Hair Removal Cream moisturises and exfoliates your skin while it removes hair, leaving it soft and smooth to the touch". I personally disagree with that statement entirely.
When I bought this it was £3.99 a tube but as I said earlier it was buy one get one half price at the time, I have since seen it in places like Semi-Chem and Savers chemists for £1.59 which is of course a much better price but I still would not recommend buying it.
The original Nair comes in a yellow box somewhat old fashioned looking and has no frills or fanciness about it at all it just explains how to use and that's pretty much that. It does not smell as nice as this one but I would rather have the less pretty smell and the smooth non itchy skin than the spots and rashes this stuff leaves you with.
Thanks for reading!
