Advantages: Smooth skin where hair is removed.
Disadvantages: Doesn't remove all the hair and doesn't smell great at all!
I absolutely hate shaving my legs! I loathe it more than anything actually lol Way back on here I wrote a review on an epilator I used that marked my legs and armpits and it was so bad I couldn't wear skirts or short sleeved tops for months! As a Beauty Therapist I've tried loads of different methods over the years and waxing doesn't suit me either as it tears my wafer like skin and I have tried loads of different deplority creams over the years, to no avail probably even this one way back but I bought this for a pound just to see if it worked! I love the thought of putting something on my skin that not only removes hair, but from the root rather that a lawnmower effect with a razor and because I'm now 33 (gr) and shaved my bits and bobs every day since I was 15 my hair is very coarse and cos I have naturally dark hair that only supports making my legs hairier and tut I'm a girl!!!!! (ok woman who am I kidding here?!)
Firstly the box..
Oblong, white and pink with blue, pink and green writing on it. Tells me it is by Nair and that it's Sensitive Hair Remover Cream with Camellia Oil and Ylang-Ylang for radiant, silky smooth skin and that it is Dermatoligically tested with a delicate fragrance. On the back of the box I'm told what to expect, where to use it, instructions for use, cautions, ingredients and contact details for Nair.
The Tube is long also white and pink and says basically the same as what I'm told on the box. Its a 110ml recylcable tube with bright pink screw on/off lid. All very attractive and informative packaging.
What Is This Cream For?
Specially formulated for sensitive skin, this Nair cream gently, but effectively removes unwanted hair from legs, bikini area and underarms. With Camellia Oil and Ylang - Ylang, Nair helps moisturise and exfoliate your skin while it removes hair, leaving it soft and smooth to the touch.
Irritation or allergic reaction may occur with some people, even after prior use without adverse effects. Therefore a test should always be carried out on a small part of the area to be treated before each use. Follow the instructions and if the skin is normal after 24hours, proceed with the full application.
1) Smooth on the cream in a thick, even layer, covering the hair to be removed. Do not rub in.
2) After 5-6 minutes, test a small area. If the hair does not come away from the test area easily, leave on for a few minutes longer. Do not leave for more than 10 minutes in total.
3) Shower off with lukewarm water using a wet cloth if required and pat skin dry with a soft towel. Do not rub or use soap.
Well I've used it a couple of times now. Lets talk about the cream first. It is light pink and comes out the hole in the tube very easily. It's quite greasy so easy to apply so I can understand why it is moisturising to the skin. Like instructions say do not rub in! If you do (which I did the first time after not reading the instructions properly) it does irritate and tingle the skin. This doesn't hurt but is is uncomfortable and that's why they say don't do it!
I put on a thick even layer as told to. I find the process of applying annoying to say the least. Firstly the smell isn't pleasant. It certainly isn't the worse smelling hair removal cream I have ever used but you can tell what it is and afterwards, after rinsing you can still smell it slightly on the skin and as Nair say not to use soap after using it your pretty much stuck with the smell unless your daring enough to go against the instructions (I'll come on to the later!) The other thing that is annoying is that the cream is cold (as you'd expect) and applying it to a huge area of leg and not being able to touch anywhere (so you cant even wear a dressing gown unless your willing to be glued up) it is freezing and it's very tricky to apply to the backs of legs and places where you bend.
Now I find 5-6 minutes is simply not enough for the type of hair I have. I need the full 10 minutes for this products maximum benefit. However, for me this length of time is not enough either. Yes it does remove some hair but certainly not all which then means I'm left with chicken legs! The result for me is poor. Skin does feel soft and moisturised there is no denying that and where some hair has been removed it is great but I couldn't possibly wear a skirt patchy! There is no way this would be good for bikini area and underarms would be to tough to do and too coarse as well! As for it saying it exfoliates, I'm not sure how but yes maybe it does as well as moisturise as , as I have already stated skin does feel smoother.
This stuff is easy to remove but do use lukewarm water in the shower as recommended, not tissue (as I did) as it doesnt remove it properly and it tingles till you wash it off and makes a real mess and you end up stinking!)
Now I have left this product on over the recommended time and its not a good idea it really does tingle and still, after all that discomfort it doesn't work any harder.
Now as I said Nair say not to use soap after using. Well I admit I did. I just used a plain unfragranced vegetable soap. Now I'm not suggesting anyone else to do this what so ever! Instructions are there for a reason after all but I did find my skin was fine and the smell was gone. I also afterwards had to use a razor as I really was unhappy with the results which again is a no no but I was ok with that and I had no adverse reaction.
For a quid it's worth trying if your hair is fine and/or light. For me I don't like the smell, the messyness but overall the results were extremely poor (as I expected). Yes legs do feel a little moisturised after application but being hairy still wasnt the idea I had lol
The only price I can find for this paticular product is £4.99 but really, I'd give it a miss unless you have money to throw unless as I said previously you can try it on the cheap, like me!

Summary: I'd give it a miss if you expect a miricle!
