Advantages: Design is based on those at salons
Disadvantages: Products are of bad quality
Any waxer knows that this is a messy job but for some reason I found this kit made it even worse. I first brought it about 5 years ago when I started a beauty therapy course (it has long since been in the bin).
Design
The design of it is exactly like those used in beauty salons only smaller and with less heating dials. It is easy to use and is really self explanatory. It does have different heat settings although I found these to be a little cooler than what you would use at salons. The black is quite stylish and it is small enough to easily store.
Quality of the products
There is a hard and soft wax provided in this kit, both I found to be of poor quality. This is compared to the stuff I am used to dealing with from a beauty wholesalers. Whether this is maybe because the wax pot took so long to heat it and in my opinion did not reach the optimum heat, anybody using this wax pot I would recommend buying other wax to put in it. I found it much much stickier than normal, especially with the hard wax and I actually found it hurt more but that could be due to the cheap wax strips that they provide. They are the paper ones whereas I always find it better to use the muslin ones (less pain and much more effective at removing all the wax and so the hairs). The cleaner they provided works on your skin/hands if you use loads on it. It does not however work on the actual wax pot which it is actually there for. I only used it on my hands in desperation because nothing else would take this wax off.
Price
I think I only paid £50 for this when I brought it which is a really good price (some wax pots can be priced at £300+ (salon ones). However, the quality I feel reflects the price. Plus once the wax has run out you have to keep replacing it which I found was really expensive. A cheaper and in my opinion more effective method is either the hair removal cream or epilation. With epilation there is one off payment for the machine and you have it for as long as its electrical life will last. For decent wax you are paying around £10-15 a pot
Overall I would not recommend this product to a friend. Mine was used a few times and got so sticky and messy it ended up stuck in the box and stuck to the instructions and I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of sorting it out so it went straight in the bin. I must admit I was disappointed with this product but then my expectations were high because of the kit I used at college. This wood be fine for someone who has fine hair and has got the time and money to buy the products over and over again.
Summary: Overall I think this wax heater does the job but not greatly.
