“ Brand: Sainsbury's / Type: Shaving Gel / Texture: Cream / Subcategory: Shower Gel / Gel / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types „
I was wanting to try a different kind of shower gel as I always tend to stick to the same ones and so sent my husband on a mission to hunter/gather me some shower gel which was 'fruity' this was what he returned with and although it's alright it isn't fantastic.
It comes in a rather simple bottle which is plastic and quite long and slim, the one I have is different to the picture provided by Ciao, it is more oval and doesn't get thinner at the top like this picture suggests. It has a black cap which is what it sits upon and black writing. There isn't anything special about the bottle and I have to admit it looks rather cheap. I don't think this is the kind of shower gel you'd buy someone as a present or you'd want to buy if you are looking for some kind of luxury.
The lid is a flip cap so it's easy to open and close again no matter whether you have wet or soapy hands so it's very practical. Because it is a bottle which sits on it's cap it is practical again in terms of the gel being able to come out because it all falls down. The bottle is squeezy so you can get the gel out. It's a very thick gel, reminds me of a very thick lemon curd so you really do need to give it a good squeeze to get it out. I find that because it is so thick you actually have good control with getting it out so you are less likely to get too much which is good.
I put this straight onto my sponge and then wash myself with it. It certainly lathers up extremely well, even a small amount will soon provide a very decent lather and it goes a very long way which is great.
The smell is extremely zesty, you cannot deny it smells of lemons that's for sure although it is so very extreme that it doesn't smell very natural at all, it is very strong indeed and reminds me a bit of lemon cleaning products so it isn't something I really want to put all over my body and to smell of afterwards. The smell does stick to your skin for a while, I find that for an hour or so I still smell a bit lemony which is not ideal especially when this smell reminds me of cleaning products!
The shower gel does clean me and takes away any dirt and results in me smelling zesty which is good and it does lather up well. I do feel as though I am nicely clean after using it which I guess is the main point of a shower gel so it does score well on this level.
I am giving it 3 stars because I don't think it's anything special, the bottle looks rather cheap and tacky and the smell is so strong it doesn't smell natural aside from this it is perfectly fine. I think if you do like strong lemon scents then you will like this shower gel but for me it is a bit too strong smelling. It cost us £1.20 from Sainsbury's. I will be using the rest of this bottle but I won't be buying it again as it just isn't for me.
After hanging around the beauty aisles of Sainsbury's last week I couldn't help but notice the amount of bargains they head in terms of shower gels and bath creams. I am really trying to cut down on the amount I spend on bath stuff until Christmas because I just spend too much money! But when I saw this Sainsbury's Shower Gel it screamed at me from the shelf and I couldn't resist picking it up and taking it home.
** Sainsbury's Lemon Sorbet Shower Wash **
This literally jumped off the shelf at me because the clear squeezy bottle was exploding with this bright yellow shower gel. There was hardly anything else on the shelf as bright at this product and it definitely caught my eye. I also found the packaging to be very up to date and stylish which also caught my eye. The black flip lid means that the shower gel stands upside down allowing the last drips to be used. The word shower is large lime green letters climbing vertically down the bottle and the words 'Lemon Sorbet' embossed in black on the front. Plus at 88p it was a complete and utter bargain! (Usually £1).
The shower gel states the zingy lemon gel with lemon extract will awaken your senses and revive your body for the day ahead! To be honest, all I hope from this product is that it cleans me and smells great. At 88p for 250ml I don't expect a superstar but I do expect the basics!
** What Was It Like To use **
I used this just as an every day shower gel, the one you get up and grab in the morning and because its so cheap it doesn't really matter if you drop a bit down the plug-hole because you are still half asleep! (Although it still shouldn't be wasted!)
The best thing about this shower gel is the fragrance, It is EXTREMEMLY lemony. I think the name 'lemon sorbet' is correct as it really is sweet and citrusy. I love my citrus scents and love the fact it does sort of burst your senses open and help you to wake up. However it does subdue once your are out the shower and dried off. Although it leaves a very very subtle hint of lemon. Hardly noticeable!
The gel itself is extremely watery and you do need a lot of it. I have used my twice and half the bottle has gone! (That's without dropping any down the plughole!) What first seemed like a bargain, if you only get 4 washes out of it then, to be honest, it isn't that much of a bargain is it???? Because it was so watery it tended not to lather up very well, and although it did clean you how a shower wash should, it really felt like a cheap product which was such a shame because the scent is gorgeous!!
** Conclusion & Recommendation **
It didn't add anything to my skin, no moisture, or skin softening qualities. It didn't foam up very well and I had to use far too much for my liking. It smelt wonderfully lemony and did wake me up.
However, to be honest, what was a bargain, ended up being a bit of a waste of money. An empty bottle after 4 washes is a bit of a let down.
I would recommend this as an emergency back up or something to wake you up occasionally. So maybe credit crunching purchase when needed. The shower wash is a great stocking filler as it looks extremely stylish but I probably won't buy this again.
