Unusual Method Of Hair Removal!

Disadvantages: Painful, quick regrowth, small, not enough in packet
Most (if not all) women on this site will know the pains of hair removal, and if you are anything like me, you have tried pretty much anyway of removing body hair. I have tried everything from shaving to epliating and back again, in the hope to find a quick, easy and painless way to remove unwanted body hair.
A friend of mine once recommended that I try the sheer skin hair removal system, as she had just bought one, and it claimed to be a quick, easy way to remove body hair with no pain and no mess. Sounded like a brilliant idea, so I thought I would give it a try.
The Sheer Skin set basically looks like little pieces of sandpaper in different sizes, with a strap on the back to enable you to slip one over your fingers (or finger for smaller pieces) and then you rub this little thing on your skin in a circular motion to remove the hair. It sounds simple enough, but I was unsure as to how well this work.
My first worry was that this might hurt, despite the claims for it to be pain free. It is basically sandpaper, of a finer texture and the size of even the biggest piece in the box is not much bigger than a couple of inches, so it looked like it would take an age to remove a decent amount of hair from my body.
I tried a patch on my leg with this Sheer Skin, and I followed the instructions to gently rub my skin in a circular motion. I noticed that after about a minute of rubbing over and over on the same patch, that the hair was indeed gone, but so was my skin! I just had a very pale, hairless patch of skin that was a bit sore to the touch! The skin was quite dry too, like something had just sucked the moisture straight out of it! I thought maybe that it would have a different effect on another part of my body, so I tried a smaller piece on my forearm, but found that it was the exact same problem!
I have dry skin anyway, but this made it stupidly dry and it took loads of moisturiser for my skin to feel any where near normal again. My friend who bought this kit has quite normal skin, so she gave it a try as she thought her skin would react differently. She got about half way through one leg, when she found that she had to stop because the pain was just too much, and the sandpaper had just run out!! Her leg (or the half of it anyway) was red raw, and very dry too. This half a leg had taken her almost an hour to do!
My patches on my arm and leg grew back very quickly, I may as well have just shaved instead! The re growth was also very itchy, sore and coarse, a problem I do not get when I shave!!
This Sheer Skin System went straight into the bin after this, and I can happily say I have never even been tempted to use anything like this ever again. Shaving may get expensive, but it is a lot less pain and a lot quicker to do also. I am unsure as to where to buy this system from, as I never asked my friend and I never wanted to buy it for myself after trying it, so never looked for it.
I do not recommend anyone buy this, unless you love rubbing off your own skin and causing yourself pain! I would prefer to give this product a 0 in the way of stars, but sadly that is not a possibilty so I am giving it a 1. I urge everyone to stay well away from Sheer Skin, it really is not worth trying.
