“ Brand: Veet / Laser / Sugar / Type: Wax / Laser / Sugar / Subcategory: Wax / What it does: Smoothes, „
I bought these because I wanted longer lasting hair removal than shaving for the summer. These were on offer in Boots at the time so I bought them. Veet products like this are widely available, you can buy them in chemists like Boots, Superdrug and Savers and supermarkets like Tesco, Asda and Morrisons. Veet is a very popular and well known brand so I trusted these to be effective.
The packaging is a yellow cardboard box with the Veet logo and name on the front and some information. This waxing kit contains the ready made wax strips and a spray which is supposed to make the waxing more comfortable and less painful.
This is a cold wax kit and the wax strips come already prepared and stuck together, to use them you warm them up by rubbing them in your hands before peeling them apart and waxing with them. Before waxing you are meant to spray the skin with the comfort spray.
So, I followed the instructions exactly. I sprayed the skin with the spray which I didn't think had much of an effect but that wasn't the important part to me. Next, I prepared the wax strips exactly how the instructions told me to and applied one to my leg. I smoothed the wax strip down before quickly peeling it off in a fast, upwards motion. There was some pain which was to be expected but nowhere near as much pain as hot waxing which rips all the hairs out... This is because it didn't work! Honestly, all this did was leave my skin sticky and did not wax in any way, shape or form! I have used other wax strips before and they have worked. I followed the instructions exactly and I was not impressed at all. I tried a few more times though, determined to make it work before coming to the conclusion that these wax strips just don't work.
I would not recommend these at all. I found them to be a waste of money and time and won't be using them again...
I had my legs waxed by a beautician a couple of times and really liked the finish. Apart from having to let your leg hair grow first which is a little unsettling, it gives such a clean break and really smooth skin. The downside for me was the cost. I really couldn't really afford to go every three weeks so I convinced myself to try and get the same finish from home. I have tried veet hair removing cream on my bikini line and really liked it so I thought I would spend a little extra and go for the Veet waxing strips. Two years later most of them are still sitting in my drawer, destined for the bin!
The wax strips come in a cardboard box which is 100% recyclable so at least they get some points for that! The strips themselves are rectangular shapes of a type of thin greaseproof paper, with a thin layer of green wax on the top. The idea is that they are ready to use cold wax strips so you have to take the protective cover off, stick them and rub them onto the hair you wish to remove (in my case I chose my legs) and then rip them off really fast. I followed the instructions perfectly and literally removed no hair. I even tried warming them up a bit more (rubbing them between my hands, leaving them in the sun etc) and that made no difference. I just couldn't seem to get them to latch onto my skin/hair. i even got my Mum to read the instructions and try and do it to me, but she didn't have any luck.
The strips did not really hurt to remove as they weren't that sticky.
The plus side is (which doesn't count for much when they don't work) is that they do not smell horrible of irritate my skin.
These do not work at all-please don't waste your money!
Ok maybe this was my fault that I ended up wasting my money on this product. After trying the Veet in hair shower removal which didnt work maybe i should have gave this product a wide berth. But while yet again searching the shelves for some new product to buy I kept being drawn to this, maybe it was the summer yellow and the fact that here in July I was stuck in the pouring rain! Well whatever it was I ended up buying it.
This is a waxing kit for you to use at home. I have never tried the usual ones you find as they involce heating the wax up and then applying it yourslef and that scares me as no doubt i would end up in A&E with third degree burns!
Instead this one was a lot simplier simply take the wax strips out the packet which are on what looks like tracing paper and are two stuck together. Then just rub them inbetween your hands to warm them up and pull the two strips apart. With one you then smooth it down against your leg leave it on for a couple of seconds and pull off....OWWWW!!!!
It feels like your waxing yourself so I thought tis was good news as it was simple enough to do and meant no mess. But after pulling another 3 strips from my legs with tears almost in my eyes....the hair was still on my legs!
I couldnt believe it...so it was back to the trusty razor!
