Advantages: Do remove the hair
Disadvantages: Messy, expensive, patchy & painful!
Before I went on holiday I didn't want to have to shave my legs every 3 days, especially as I was going to be away for 2 weeks and my legs were going to be on show a lot more than usual. So when I was going round my local Sainsbury's I headed for the beauty isle and spotted these Easy Wax Strips. I have the ones with Shea Butter and Berry fragrance for normal skin, although you can get ones which are more gentle for sensitive skin. The packet claims up to 4 weeks of smoothness. There are 20 wax strips in the pack along with 4 perfect finish wipes (which are used to wipe away any excess wax and give shine, they also sooth the skin)
These wipes cost me £8.
How to use them - First you take one of the strips and warm it up by rubbing it in between your palms. This warmed the wax up and makes sure it will grip onto every hair. These claim to grab on to even 1.5mm of hair and there is a measuring length to check whether the hair is long enough. One warmed, you peel the strips apart (there are two stuck together) and then smooth the strip onto your leg. The Easy Grip tab should be pointing towards your ankle and you smooth them down in the direction of hair growth. Then comes the hard bit. You have to brace yourself, take a deep breath and pull the tab back on itself, holding the strip as close to the skin as possible.
My Thoughts - When I used this product I thought it was going to be amazing. I started waxing my legs following the directions and the first bad thing was the pain. Wow. It brought tears to my eyes even though I knew it was going to hurt and I knew when it was coming! It did remove the hair, but was very patchy. After one use of the strip though, you are still able to re use the strop on another patch of leg or on bits you might have missed. So pain aside the wax strips did remove the hair.
However, I found it very hard to do actually. It was virtually impossible to do on my own as doing the backs of my legs meant I was tearing off the strips at an odd angle, which made it even more painful. It was also incredibly messy. The wax stuck to my legs in clumps and no matter how much scrubbing I did with the wipes it just wouldn't come off. The wipes also made my legs look very oily and made greasy marks on everything they touched! I was very disappointed with them actually. It would have been much less stressful just to shave them, which will be what I do next time.
Overall, although they do remove the hair I think there are other more efficient and less messy ways to hair removal. I wasn't impressed by the amount off effort I had to put into this as they are supposed to be easy to use. Misleading Veet! Very misleading!
