Advantages: Easy to use, best brand I've tried

Disadvantages: Not enough finishing wipes, and don't have as long lasting as effect as stated

As much as I hate to admit it, like alot of girls do I suffer from a hairy top lip. I have quite dark hair so if I don't do something about it, it can be quite embrassing.

Veet is a trademark for products manufactured by Reckitt Benchiser. Veet is the brand name for various hair removal products, including creams, mousses, gels and waxes. Veet was previously known as Immac.

This review is for Veet wax strips for the face. These wax strips now also come in a new easy grip version.

Packaging-
The veet face wax strips come in a baby pink box, with the Veet logo clearly on the front of the box and face written underneath. They are easy to spot on the shelf, and because it says face on the front its easy to make sure you have picked up the right product. There is also a picture of berries, I am not really sure why.
The back of the box, features all the need to know information, including precautions. There is also an ingredients list on one side of the box, and a contents list and Reckitt Benckiser contact information on the other.

Contents-
The box contains
20 wax strips, which come as 10x 2, 2 are stuck together
4 finishing wipes
1 leaflet

Leaflet-
The leafet has a 5 step how to guide to beautiful, touchably smooth skin. There are 3 different options of the 5 steps, one for face waxing, one for bikini line and one for underarms.
The leaflet also features tips for before waxing, during wax, and after waxing.

What they state they can do -
From the box these strips are said to be
Ideal for small areas, delicate areas like the upper lip. They are also handy for touch ups.
Designed to be effective on short hair, as short as 1.5mm, the previous strips said only from 2mm.
Produce long lasting results, the hair is removed from the root, so that you enjoy smooth skin for up to 4 weeks.
It also states that by using veet regularly your hair will regrower finer, softer and fewer.
Easy to use as with the specially developed grip tab helps you get the best waxing technique .
Care for your skin, as they contain Shea Butter, which is known for its skin protective properties.

Waxing-
The wax strips are ready to use, all you need to do is rub the wax strips together in your hands to warm the wax, apply to the area and wax away.

The strips are of a good size, and the wax part of the strip is about 2 inchs long and only about a half inch in width, which makes them perfect for delicate small areas. The actual strips are white, almost clear in colour and the pink coloured wax shows through the strip so you know where to apply.
It is suggested that before you wax to do a skin reaction test 24 hours before, however as I have used these strips before I gave this a miss.
Warming the wax up, is really easy and only takes afew seconds. The two strips come apart easily. They are then very straight forward to apply.
I tend to do one side of my lip at a time, then do the other. The strips are quite flexible which makes it easier to cover all the area needed.
I then rub down the wax strips a few times, as stated in the instructions in the direction the hair grows.
Then its time to rip them off. That sounded worse than it was. I found that they come of quite easily and as long as you do it quickly it doesn't hurt too much. It states to hold skin taut to avoid discomfort while pulling the strip off, I do this and it does help. The new easy grip strips make it even easier to pull them off than before.
My lip is usually a little tender and a bit red for about half hour to an hour after waxing. It usually fades quite quickly after that, however there has been the odd occassion when the redness has taken a bit longer to go down. Therefore if you are waxing for a night out or other special occassion its best to wax a day or so before hand. I tend to wax at night so my lip doesn't feel tender when applying make up in the morning, and it is suggested to leave 24 hours before using perfumed products on the waxed area, however I have never had any problems.
The strips are said to be for normal skin, I have fairly senstitive skin and haven't had a reaction.
After the wax is done, any excess wax on your skin can be removed with one of the finishing wipes included in the box.
The wax strips are siad to be re-useable until they lose their grip, however I tend to dispose of them after each wax. I find 1 x 2 wax strips is suitable usuage, so I get 10 waxes out a box.

Cost- I normally buy my wax strips in a buy one get one free offer, or a two for £5-£6 offer. They aren't the cheapest on the market, but they do last a while.

My thoughts-
These wax strips are now my wax strips of choice. I have tried various other brands and have found none to be as good as these veet strips. Finding others not pulling out the hairs from as short a lenght, hurting more, and not as easy to use.
The wax strips have a faint yet sweet smell to them, and it is much better than the smell of hot wax.
One of the main faults I have with these wax strips is that they only come with 4 finishing wipes, what is that all about? It seems stupid to me, there are 20 wax strips in the box, 4 wipes is just not enough. On the leaflet it suggests that if you run out of wipes to use baby oil instead, so its clear that they know they aren't supplying enough. Baby oil doesn't work half as well. It doesn't seem like you can even buy the wipes on their own. I have tried to keep them and use again but I have found they dry out slightly and don't work as well.

How do they live up to what they said they can do?
Ideal for small areas-, I feel they are perfect for small areas, and have always done the job for me.
Long lasting results- In terms of long lasting results they fall a little short for me, my lip is normally hair free for around 2 weeks, and I feel I need to wax again by the end of weeek 3. It has never lasted me 4 weeks. If I left it for 4 weeks I think I would have mostache.
Remove short hairs- They are actually really good at this, which is great as with many other products you have to leave the hair to grow more, with these you can wax away as soon as hair is noticeable and bothering you.
Easy to use- yes, even more so now they have a easy grip
Care for skin- Yes, these are the best I have tried.

Overall a great box of wax strips, that live up to most of the promises that they make. Precautions are listed below for more information if you care to know.

Precautions-
Follow the directions for use. Designed for use on face, underarms, bikini line, but not suitable for use on the head, breast, perianal or genital areas or on any other body parts. Do not use on varicose veins, scars, moles, broken, irritated, sunburnt skin, or on skin that has reacted badly to waxes in the past. Hair should be between 1.5mm and 5mm long. If the hair is longer trim with scissors or clippers before you wax to avoid discomfort and damage to skin when waxing. Check with your doctor before using if you are on any medication which can affect the skin or if you suffer from any skin related disorder. Waxing is not suitable for the elderly and diabetics or people with oral retinoids. If you have not waxed before we recommend starting by removing hair from the legs. Only when you have experience, then progress to the sensitive areas of underarm, bikini line and face. We recommend not to wax the same area twice during a wax session. After waxing we recommend waiting 24 hours before using antiperspirant, any perfumed product, using artifcial tanning equipment, sunbathing or swimming. Before every use, TEST YOUR SKIN REACTION by applying and removing the wax and wipe to a small part of the area you wish to treat, following the directions for use. If after 24 hours there is no adverse reaction, begin waxing. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. In case of ingestion, consult a doctor immediately and show the outer pack. If you experience any stinging or tingling when waxing, remove the wax immediately with the wipes or with the back of a used strip and rinse thoroughly with water or apply a cold compress. If this sesation persists, seek medical advice. Waxing is suitable for pregnant women but may cause bruising.

Summary: Easy grip wax strips for small and delicate areas
