Advantages: Excellent shave and moisturises the skin.
Disadvantages: Is far too expensive and hard to get a grip of.
Being a skint student, I'm not usually particularly compelled to search out the most expensive toiletries that I can spot on the High Street. In fact, when it comes to razors I'm more likely to invest in one of those types of pound-shop razor packs containing 482 razors, each one of which rips your skin to shreds when you so much as take it out the packet. However, I'm not disinclined to sneakily making use of my sister's razor when she's not looking and she can't resist trying every new product on the market, so I wasn't in the least bit surprised when she came in with an Intuition razor.
The razor itself looks a bit odd. It is chunkier than a normal razor and the razor itself is surrounded by a thick layer of a "skin conditioning solid" and it has two little buttons at the side of the blade that you press to change the blade and the layer surrounding it. It comes equipped with two blades, a hanger so you can stick your razor to the bathroom wall within easy reach and a cap to place over the razor head when travelling. Lovely. However, it does cost a far bit and set my sister back a little over £6, but I see it is now selling for £4.19 on the Boots website. The razors for it are equally expensive costing over £6 for 3 when it was initially released, and now retailing at £4.19 for 3 on the Boots website. It is even worse if you have sensitive skin as 3 sensitive razors cost £11.99 initially, now £7.99.
So does it work? Well, as you might expect at the price, it does work remarkably well. The razor itself adjusts itself to the contours of your body and the solid surrounding it means it can be used without shaving gel. Hurrah! It does glide over you skin easily and often it doesn't feel like you're shaving at all, but produces excellent results. Your legs are stubble free and feel moisturised.
However, the razor is rather hard to grip because of the chunky design, and it is difficult sometimes to avoid nicking yourself when shaving.
The hanger that the razor comes with isn't too great, either. My sister has it attached to the tiles surrounding our bath, and I've often been enjoying a relaxing soak in the tub only to be disturbed with a giant, chunky razor landing on top of me when it slips off the hanger.
So would I recommend it? As a razor it is definately in a class of its own, but the bad design can't be ignored and it does make it difficult to hold onto it when shaving which is extremely annoying. However, my major hang-up with it has to be the price. I just couldn't justify paying this amount of money just on something that I use to shave my legs, especially as I don't feel the blades last particularly long because the solid tends to wear down quite quickly. I would say the solid has significantly worn down in about 6 or 7 shaves and has got to the stage where it needs to be replaced, and with the blades at the price they are I think this is fairly unsustainable.
Summary: Innovative razor for women.
