      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      wholly recommended product

      ADVANTAGES

Main plus is that they make curling your hair with straighteners a lot easier than with a standard pair due to the slim barrel and cord that swivels avoiding you getting tangled up.

Still straighten hair really well, though I must add that I have pretty limp hair anyway so can't comment about hair that wants to be curly naturally.

There is also a heat setting that allows you to increase or decrease the heat according to what your hair needs, avoiding unnecessarily damaging it if you hair will straighten on a lower setting

Quick to heat up and tells you when it's ready

      Includes a heat resistant case

In my opinion, good value for money - I paid around £30 in a supermarket

Cute gold flower design on the front which, I'm ashamed to say, first attracted me to them!

      DISADVANTAGES

Very few, however because of the slim barrel it does take me longer to straighten my hair than when I had a wider paddle - but that is also the feature that makes curling easier so it's an unavoidable trade off really

Great straightener/curler, heats up very quickly, bargain price

When first moving to the UK I had to find a decent straightener immediately as I didn't want the hassle of using an adapter all the time. I found this little gem in Boots for around 25 pounds and I thought it was a good bargain straightener. I thought I would still have to spend a lot more for something that would do a better job but this would do for now. I had always purchased expensive straighteners (150 and up) as no cheaper versions were ever able to straighten my wild curly hair. Upon first use of this it was amazing, it heated up VERY hot (it has 10 heat settings) VERY quickly. It's a good size although I would prefer the panels a little bigger. It took me 10 minutes in total to straighten my hair when normally even with an expensive straightener it would take me around 20-25. I've been here for around 2 years now and I still haven't had to purchase a new straightener. In regards to the curling feature I do find it easier than normal straighteners to curl my hair. The sides of the panels are more curved than normal straighteners which really does help get a better curl. I'd highly recommend this, it gets the job done just as good as one with a 100 pound price tag.

I have owned these straighteners for over a year now, opting for these versus the more expensive brand.Have to say I'm really pleased with them. My hair is neither straight nor curly, but somewhere in between, and I am able to use these for both curls and waves, and for straighter days! The only thing I can grumble about is that over time the paint is starting to rub off from the sides, they are looking a bit worse for wear now!

Get pair of straighteners, perfect for taming curly hair and creating curls!

I have ridiculously curly and bushy/frizzy hair because of the little bit of Caribbean in my blood. So I find straighteners can be a pain when it comes to taming my hair.

I have used many straighteners including GHD's and before these my favourites were a pair of Remingtons, when they broke I needed some new ones! I chose these mainly because they are slim and get up to 230 degrees which for me is the heat I need to use. They are excellent, it only takes me around 30-40 minutes to straighten all of my hair (which is very long). They seem to be able to keep my hair under control all day and night which is something that has never happened before. They heat up super fast and you can create curls.
They come with a heat proof mat and hair sectioning clips. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Yes you can buy cheaper hair straighteners, but the saying goes that - you get what you pay for!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

great straighteners does just the job

I have just had these straighteners for my birthday - whooppee! the pair I had before had become rubbish - don't reckon they were any good in the first place!

These straighteners come with heat mat which you can also use to wrap around the straighteners whilst travelling. They also come with four hair clips but my hairs fairly thick and I find these just don't hold all my hair up, I tend to use a hair band to tie my hair up letting it down a bit at a time to straighten it.

The straighteners have 10 settings which is great so if your hair is thin you can have it on a lower setting but if it's thick like mine you can have it on a higher setting although becareful it's really hot! They heat up really quickly which is great and I managed to staighten my hair in 10mins which is great.

I use a pre-heat treatment before using which is advisable to avoid heat damage to your hair.

These straighteners are also supposed to be able to curl, I have heard it takes a bit of getting used to but is possible, I had a quick go but got confused what I was doing looking in the mirror!

I like the look of these straighteners as well, they have ceramic plates and are easy to use.

Although these were a gift, I know they were about £30 could've have been in the sale I'm not sure. I have seen them on ebay for £40.

The mains lead is long which is useful, I often find with hair dryers and straightners the lead is too short and I have to sit right next to the socket! so this was a plus.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Don't buy if you're looking for a curly style

My hair is wavy and quite dense, which means it can be a bit of a devil to style. My old straighteners, whose top temperature seemed to be about 25 degrees, managed to flatten my hair a bit but did not achieve what I would call a super sleek or poker straight look. Of late I've reverted to wearing my hair in its naturally wavy state, which I like perfectly well, but I have often thought that it would be nice to actually be able to alter my style now and again.

The BaByliss Straight & Curl Straighteners come with a heat-proof mat and four hair clips and have ten different temperature settings, the highest temperature being 230 degrees. They heat up in just 15 seconds so there's no hanging around. For straightening, as you'd expect with such high temperatures, they work very well indeed. The only qualm I have is that the ceramic plates don't sit quite flush. When you close the straighteners, the plates meet at the tip but have a gap of a few millimetres at the bottom. I'd have thought this wouldn't be the most effective design but, then again, I'm no expert on hair straightening technology. It doesn't seem to matter anyway, as they straightened my hair very well. The manufacturer also claims, however, that this device can be used for curling - a claim I would contest. The idea is that you wrap your hair around the straighteners and, due to the straighteners' rounded edge, you can create curls. I followed the instructions in the manual but succeeded only in scorching my hair slightly from holding the straighteners in one place for too long. This might well be down to my own ineptness rather than the straighteners' ineffectiveness, but I was still a bit disappointed that it wasn't as easy to create defined curls as the manufacturer lead me to believe. Hence only four stars.

Overall, though, very good hair straighteners - and other people may well have more success using them as curlers than I did.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Easy to straighten and curl!

Parts of this review also on Amazon.

With so many straighteners around it's getting harder to find something unique but after seeing the BaByliss 2082U Pro 230 Straight & Curl I had to give them a go. Provided in the box are 4 sectioning clips, heatproof mat and the sleek black straighteners with gold coloured flowers and nano-ceramic plates.

Heating up to 230 degrees there are 10 different heat settings. The higher settings perfect for straightening but reducing the heat for curling. These straighteners also heat up very quickly so they can be used shortly after putting them on which is great if in a hurry.

Although my hair is naturally straight already, there is a visible difference when using these for straightening but I'm usually disappointed that it completely dulls the shine of my hair when used at the highest heat setting. The plates slide easily through my hair and unlike other models I have tried, don't catch at the ends of the plates causing less damage.

I really wanted these straighteners for their ability to curl though. Technically this is possible with the majority of straighteners if the plates are rounded and flush with the sides but I have found these straighteners are thinner so easier to use specifically for this purpose. The limited instructions provided a rough idea of what to do but it really just took practice and a bit of burning my hair to get the desired effect.

I don't recommend keeping them at 230 degrees like I did at first and ended up tangling my hair and burning the ends. After reducing the heat to around 5 and sectioning my hair properly I managed to get beautifully defined curls. One thing I would say is these curls don't get very close to the roots but start further down the hair because of the method used which might not be ideal for everyone so I would probably recommend something like curling tongs.

With the natural straightness of my hair, the curls do end up more waves by the end of an evening depending on the products I've used on my hair but when straightening the result lasts a lot longer. They are easy to use and the three metre cord is a good length as I'm quite tall and I can still stand straight and use them with ease.

Overall, I do like using these for curling but more likely to use another pair for straightening as I'd rather have a shine to my hair. They do take a bit of practice but I've loved the curling results I've managed to achieve. They would make a great gift but are a little more feminine with the gold flower design.
