I have very thick curly hair which can be a mission to straighten.
I asked my dad one year for some new straighteners for Christmas as my old ones were broken.

The hair straighteners:

My dad bought me the electric blue blueberry version which came with sectioning clips,
a heatproof mat which also doubles up as a handy wrap to keep them from getting broken and a pouch to keep them in.

The problem with the pouch for me was the straighteners didn't actually fit inside.
I did wonder if it was a clutch bag but after looking on the box, the straighteners are put in the pouch for easy transport.

My Dad bought these straighteners back in 2009 for me when he popped to Tesco and they were £42.99.
At this point, the GHD's were taking us by storm and everyone was getting them that Christmas.
When I opened these for Christmas I was so excited to try them out. They are very elegant and work really well.
I have had them for just over 2 years now and the only problem I've had with them is that they have started to smell.

I used to straighten my hair almost everyday as I had a fringe which with my curls looked terrible left naturally.

When you straighten you hair with products, dirty hair or heat parts for too long,
you are in effect melting it all onto the straightener plates so after all this time of straightening my hair, the smell has gotten worse.
Luckily I don't often straighten my hair much anymore due being able to control my curls without heat.

Heat:
=======================
These straighteners heat up to 230 degrees and have 3 settings. There is a sliding switch which has 1 dot, 2 dots and 3 dots.
3 dots is the highest heat and 1 dot being the lowest for finer hair.
3 Dots:230
2 Dots:200
1 Dot: 180

There is an on and off button which turns red once it is on and flashes until it's fully heated up.
It stops flashing after around 10-15 seconds as it heats instantly. This is where they are similar to GHD straighteners.

Hot enought to curl?
========================
These straighteners are very square. They are much better for curling too.
I bought some barrel curlers which turned out to be a waste of money and were returned.
I started curling my hair with straighteners which i found was much quicker and gave me a much better result.

If you want to curl you hair with straighteners, all you need to do is start from the top of your hair and clasp you hair in between them.
Then turn your wrist to be vertical and drag them down your hair in a curled position.

Where to buy?

Amazon are still selling these £29.51 with a postage cost through an Amazon seller.
Ebay sellers are selling them brand new also for £29.98.

Are they worth that?
========================
Definitely. I will be purchasing a new pair this month as mine now need updating.
As i won't be straightening my hair as much with these I doubt the smell will return.

Conclusion:
=============================
If you are on the hunt for some new straighteners, it is definitely worth getting these.
They heat up very quick for those in a rush in the mornings, curl for body, give you a choice of temperature
and come with a heating pad to save burning the house down.

The only other issue i've found it that when i've turned them off and leave them plugged in, they are still warm even the next day.
I would suggest un plugging them (like you should anyway) if you are leaving the house just incase.
