Advantages: Fast heat up, durable, really work, no frizz, indicator light, comes with heat-proof mat/case
I bought these straighteners about two years ago and they're still going.
There are three heat settings, so you can choose depending on what type of hair you have. The temperature goes up to 230C. The straighteners don't get too warm when you're holding them even when you have them on for a long time. They don't overheat.
There is an on off button on the straighteners and a blue light indicates that it's on. This is really useful and makes it much less likely that you'll leave it on by accident. The blue light flashes until it's ready to use and then just stays blue, which only takes about 15-30 seconds.
The plates are titanium-ceramic with ionic conditioning to prevent frizz. They're supposed to be good for straightening larger sections of hair and taking less time. I've found that they are good for this. I'm quite impatient when doing my hair and I've found that it takes less time to get a good result with these than with cheaper straighteners.
The cable is a good length, 3 meters, and it attaches to the straighteners on a swivel so it doesn't get awkward when you want to move them a certain way.
The straighteners come with a few clips and a case, which opens up into a heat-proof mat. This is really useful as in the past I've burnt surfaces by putting my straighteners down on them.
My Babyliss straighteners have lasted over two years, and I'm not that careful with them and have dropped them a few times. There are a few scratches on the ceramic plates due to my carelessness but they don't seem to be wearing at all and seems like they'll last a while yet. It comes with a 5 year Guarantee.
I got them on offer at Boots. These days you can get them from just under £50 on Amazon and maybe a bit cheaper on ebay. Even though there are newer ones on the market, they're not much better than these ones and this is a really good price.
Do they work?
Yes. They work amazingly. I've got quite curly and sometimes quite frizzy hair and these get it straight in absolutely no time at all. I also find that my hair stays straight all day, unlike with some other straighteners I've tried. Using them makes my hair look shiny and healthy, they don't pull on my hair (which is something I've experienced with straighteners at hairdressers) and they don't make my hair go static.
Summary: Amazingly easy to use, and very effective. Would definitely recommend.
