As you probably know, the straighteners which are deemed the best by all girl's standards are the very expensive GHD straighteners. As someone who can't afford the GHD straighteners (I have used them before however so I'm not completely biased) I would say the Babyliss straighteners beat the GHD's by a long shot. These straighteners are not only cheaper, but they look more elegant and sophisticated, much nicer than the GHD's. As your hair straightens, it leaves the hair soft and silky smooth no matter how frizzy/untamed it was before. There are 3 different heat settings so if your conscious about heat damage you can easily adjust it between the options - no complicated settings where you have specific numbers for specific hair types like you can get with other products, each setting caters for all hair. This product gives a gentle buzz when switched on so you can tell that it's on and won't accidentally leave them on, they also have light indicators to tell you when they're switched on. The only downside to this product is it doesn't have a timer, so if you do accidentally leave them on they won't automatically switched off after a period of time like other products. The Babyliss straighteners come with a heat proof mat and a cute little bag to keep them in if you go travelling. (If you really wanted to, it could double up as a clutch bag!) Overall, this product is excellent, and excels above all other products.
After my last (slightly older) pair of Babyliss straighteners bit the dust, I thought it was time to upgrade. I knew I wanted new Babyliss ones, as I knew they were a reliable brand, but I was unsure on which ones to choose. After reading several positive reviews I decided these would be worth a try as they aren't too costy but they seemed to have everyone raving about them! I've had them for about 3 weeks now and I can honestly say they have lived up to or exceeded their reputation! They do a great job in straightening my hair no matter how thick or coarse it is that day, but I have found with my specific pair is that they make a loud fly like buzzing noise when plugged in. I think this could just be mine though because I haven't seen any other reviews that have said the same thing.
I bought these straighteners a while ago, mainly because they were on sale at a local store, but after having used them I would have gladly paid full price for them. What you get for the price -Straighteners -Heat proof mat -Storage bag The straighteners have 3 heat settings - 180, 200 and 230 degrees. It takes around 15 seconds to heat up on the lowest setting, which is no time at all really. My hair is very thick and quite wavy and so I have always had to use the highest settings on previous straighteners (around 210degrees), but with these straighteners the lowest setting is perfect. The titanium coated plates glide smoothly over my frizzy hair, and the ionic technology makes my hair look smooth and shiny. I have had these straighteners for over a year now, usually after this long I would 'upgrade' but I syill love these straighteners just as much as when I first bought them! The heat proof mat is a great little addition, as obviously it greatly reduces the risk of burning the house down! The storage pouch, however is completely useless as the straighteners don't even fit in it! Overall a great pair of straighteners.
I bought these straighteners as a quick fix after my old pair bit the dust and wasn't expecting alot for the price! I've been proved wrong though as they've definitely proved worth more than the cost and have lasted very well! The plating on these straighteners does do as promised and keep hair sleek and shiny while straightening (or curling!). I have quite long thick hair with layers and so when straightening i sometimes find it hard to blend my hair so the layers don't look like a flight of stairs but the straighteners do blend it very well and keep my hair in check all day, which i love. As I've said my hair is thick but it is also quite unruly and so I used to struggle to get it to stay poker straight and stay poker straight but this product keeps a long-lasting straightness in my hair that other products do not rival, even GHDs. There are 3 heat settings on the appliance, 180, 200 and 230, in my opinion 230 is too hot for most hair types and I used to use it to speed it up but in all honesty it is too hot and i actually noticed some steam coming off when i used that heat to curl my hair so I don't personally recommend going that high! With my naturally curly and thick hair I find that 180 is enough to straighten or curl my hair perfectly well anyway, and it is definitely much healthier hair-wise! The swivel cord on these straighteners makes doing your hair so much easier because it turns as you use it rather than twisting the cord and ruining it or putting your hands in awkward angles to get the right angle for your hair. The fact that the tongs are rounded also improves this products quality because it helps create lovely curls, flicks and waves too, rather than the boxy angular curls you can get with more square straighteners. I have found that the paint has chipped off the tongs with use though, so don't expect them to stay pristine forever! Anything that is well loved shows sings of use eventually! The heat protective mat is a great idea and I always use it, it definitely has saved some carpet in it's time! The little case in my opinion is silly though. I 'think it's particularly nice or high quality and its actually a bit of a tight fit for the straighteners so to be honest, I binned mine! The straighteners also have a feature where they turn off after 75 minutes which is great for, well you know, not burning the house down or anything. Although i have never had to rely on it, to be fair. The heating up in 15 seconds thing isn't perfectly accurate actually - the lowest heat definitely works in 15 seconds but for the highest heat it actually takes a little longer but I wouldn't bother too much about that as it's only a case of about 15 seconds not 15 minutes! In summary I think these are an ace product and definitely do not regret buying them! Cheers Babyliss!
I've got the thickest hair imaginable, and I really struggle to fine straighteners good enough to tame it. Last year I invested in some GHD's , but i was very disappointed, they were very cheap and i think they could have been fakes. A few months ago i bought the BaByliss 2098BU Pro 230 Elegance Hair Straightener in hot pink, I cant beleive how well they have worked. They don't only tame my hair but leave it dead straight all day. The straighteners are easy to use, just and on button and a bar to slide to witch temperature you would like (up to 230 degrees). I love the hot pink colour, and they are light and easy to hold. Straightening used to take me hours, but i split my hair into 4 section and with these they are done in 15 minutes, tops. The straighteners also have a rounded side, so i use them for curling as well. I only have one disadvantage: after using them my hair smell strange, but i think that could be a combination of the temperature and the amount of hair spray i an using on my curls, so it's not a big issue. Make sure you use heat defence as with any straightens to prevent split ends. I paid £32.99 for them at Asda - just a fraction of the price of the expensive brandy such as GHD, and just as good if not better.
After my last pair of hair straighteners starting giving up and stopped working on me I was on the luck out for some new ones, I read a few reviews online about hair straighteners and I kept hearing good things being said about the Babyliss 2098BU, so I decided to give them a try and made my purchase from Amazon. When I received my hair straighteners I was extremely happy with them, my first impressions of them were great as they looked really nice, a lovely pale lilac colour and they also came with a heat proof mat to put them on after use, this mat can also be used for travel by wrapping up your straighteners inside and it has a velcro strap making them easy to carry. These straighteners have a safety cut off which will cut off after 72 minutes of not being used this does seem quite a long time so I think we must be careful when using. The Babyliss 2098BU has smooth plates which are 25% longer true titanium plates ionic technology for a ultra smooth finish, with 3 metres of long swivel lead this is a great product that does a fantastic job at straightening your hair. There is three settings which you can use when using these hair straighteners, the settings are 180C, 200C or 230C, you can choose the best setting suited to the condition of your hair. I have so far been very happy with my purchase of these hair straghteners and have not been disappointed with buying them, they have so far been reliable and do a quality job on my hair, so this is one product which comes highly recommended by me. I thought so much about these after buying that I informed my friend about how good they are and she also bought some, she has been extremely happy with her purchase as well, good product well worth buying. I paid about £40 on Amazon for them, money well spent.
I loved this straightener when I first got it. I straighten my hair all the time, sometimes twice a day. I have quite frizy hair and this straightener is amazing, works right through curls and frizz to leave you with amazingly soft, shiny and of course uber straight hair. The actual straightener is gorgeous! It's kind of 'old school' glamour style, and looks so nice, as if it is part of the decoration in my room. I also really loved the fact that it came with a case, which is so useful for traveling. The only thing that is wrong with these straighteners is that after about a years' use, they have begun to disintegrate (the enamel on the irons is chipped away). This being said, I think this is just a problem that most straighteners that are used constantly have, i haven't had any others that really last that much longer than these, and they still work!
Now as I've been a big, big fan of GHD's for many years, so it would take me a lot of persuading to change me to use something else. Well with my second pair starting to take a bit longer to heat up I decided to have a look about and as money was a bit tight, as it was just after Christmas, I was hoping to get something good in the sales. After much research on the internet I kept coming up with the same brand and name over and over again, it was the Babyliss 2098BU Pro 230 Elegance Straighteners. The reviews were great with people saying that they had replaced their GHDs with these and that they are so much better, well I had to give it a go. With a lot of looking about I decided to buy my pair from Debenhams as the retail price was around the £80-90 mark and Debenhams were selling them for £39.99, so I ordered some. After waiting a couple days they turned up with the courier, so eagerly waiting to unwrap I rushed into the bedroom to have a look. They looked great in a lovely very pale lilac colour, with a heatproof mat to rest the hot straighteners on after using then, as well as being able to wrap them up in this mat with a velcro strap when travelling. As for travelling this box also included a really lovely bag to put the straighteners in as well, which looked liked a clutch bag that you could use on a girly night out. These straighteners have very smooth plates, which I am told are " 25% longer true titanium plates and ionic technology for an ultra smooth finish" which I can well believe. With a very long swivel lead of 3 metres, they also have a 3 heat settings; 180C/ 200C/230C so depending on your hair condition you can choose what heat setting you want. Taking just 15 seconds to reach the temperature you require, so fast as well as hot. I did read that they do have a slight buzzing noise that you can hear when you use these on your hair, which is true but to be honest it is so slight that you forget that it is there. There is also a safety cut off after 72 minutes ( which seems quite a long time to me before they turn off!!), also coming with a 5 year guarantee they seem the perfect straighteners to own. So I gave them a go and hey they seemed great making my hair lovely and straight very quickly. So away went the GHD's into a draw forever or did they!! I was so impressed with these straighteners that I even bought my daughter a pair for her birthday in June, I did catch my ear once and it left a really nasty blister so I only ever used these on the lower setting after that and things seemed great. After my daughter had used her's for a couple of months she decided to get her hair cut and a couple of weeks later she complained to me that her hair was still looking very split and wasn't happy with her haircut. I too had my haircut again and had started to use these on the high heat again, and noticed the same split look to my hair as well. We both colour our hair and I believe that we were using the higher setting, when in fact with our hair condition should have been using the lower heat. I did actually go back to using my old GHD's as I was convinced that the Babyliss ones were ruining my hair, but to be honest they were, but it was my own fault for using the too higher setting on coloured hair. Now I'm back to using them on the lower setting and my hair is much better after putting a very intensive overnight creme on as well. So would I recommend these Babyliss Straighteners, I would have to say yes, but only use the right settings for your hairs condition otherwise you will end up with a lot of split ends. These also have a 5 year guarantee as well.
