I must admit i love this product, but I will try to be bias for you all. I bought mine from superdrug ( In -store) to take with me on a trip abroad, but it has also had a lot of good other use out of it. I take them with me on any trip and on nights I stay round a friends or relatives. I was a bit skeptical at first about the heat only being 200.C but it works wonders with my curly hair. It's a great Product I'm my view, it's also really good to go over your straightend hair and to use on those stubborn baby hairs. I also want to mention that it can also be use to curl your hair with a little effort. I would list this as a product that is well worth the money and well worth the buy, so far mine has lasted more that a year with no problems. I hope this helps you. :D
My hair is quite long at the moment, I have been growing it for over a year and I previously had quite short hair. My hair has passed the messy stage now and is in a good condition and I think it has grown quite nicely with regular trimming. My old hair straighteners were becoming a little worse for wear and so I decided to shop around to see if I could grab myself a bargain and I spotted this one from Argos at a reduced price, so bought it. Also caught my eye because it was a pink colour and my favourite colour. The pink colour is a more of a deep pink shade and have a metallic look to them.
It comes nicely packaged in a cardboard box with a plastic view window, so you can see the straighteners inside the box. Inside the box there is an information leaflet and so it is well advised to read this leaflet before you begin to use the straighteners so you know all of the details about the product etc. A nicely explained booklet which I could understand etc.
These straighteners are very lightweight and a good size being mini straighteners. It measures just 15 cm in length and the plates measure 70mm in length and 19mm in width. The plates are also ceramic. It also has a good length cord of 1.8m and it is also a swivel cord which turns really easily and makes style far easier to use to style the hair. It is half the size of standard straighteners but it still performs in the same way.
Once plugged into the socket there is a slide switch on the side of the straighteners which is very easy to slide on and off. An orange light appears when switched on. I found it heated up almost immediately, the heat became hotter and it only takes 60 seconds for it to fully heat up and then ready to use for styling. Also heats to 200 degrees so very hot. I was pleasantly surprise with the heat up time because I thought it may take a little longer to heat up when I first bought the straighteners.
Must be used on dry hair and not wet or damp hair. I just brush my hair first while it is heating up and then I part my hair and place it inside the straighteners beginning at the roots, I then close the straighteners and very gently slide it down my hair until I reach the tip. Because they are so lightweight I find it very easy and comfortable to hold in my hands, my arms don't ache so much using these straighteners compared to my old ones. I also find it much easier to straighten each section and can style smaller sections of my hair far easier too.
Once I have fully styled my hair, I can see how shiny it looks and it has a nice glossy look and very straight which is the purpose of using them. I have straight hair with a slight curl to it and these work a treat for giving a really nice straight look to my hair. My hair feels incredibly soft and smooth after using these and have not damaged my hair. Found the ends of my hair look far nicer after using them too and in line with the rest of my hair with a very smooth finish. I don't have any split ends because I have my hair trimmed every 5 to 6 weeks on a regular basis.
Once the hair has been fully styled it is best to wait until the hair has cooled before brushing or combing it so that you don't have any static in your hair and it doesn't fly all over the place. I used to brush my hair immediately after using straighteners when I first began using them many years ago and my hair used to look like Ken Dodd lol and not a good look but that was before I learned to read information booklets and learn how to use them etc.
Tells me in the information booklet that these can be used worldwide and so would be ideal for travelling abroad. I haven't used them abroad so cannot comment if they would work or not abroad but if the booklet states it, they must in my opinion.
These would be fabulous for taking on holiday or an overnight stay because they are so lightweight and wouldn't weight hardly anything inside a suitcase or bag and because they are small they won't take up much space.
It is advisable to place them onto a heat resistant surface so they don't ruin or burn a surface and are safe etc. I place mine on a glass place mat which I can then transport to which room I want to style my hair. I usually style my hair in my bedroom so the glass mat can be moved in the bedroom and I have peace of mind I am not going to burn my dresser or cause a fire. So it is advised to take great care where you place them for safety reasons. Never leave them switched on after use and always remember to switch them off and unplug them from the socket after use. Some years ago my friend left her straighteners plugged in and went out for the day and came home to a home which luckily hadn't been burned down but she did smell a strong burning from her home when she entered the door, all because she had forgotten to turn them off etc. One very lucky friend in my opinion.
Also come with a 3 year guarantee and any other relevant information can be found in the booklet provided inside the box and a worthwhile read.
I am really pleased I bought these straighteners and I am very happy with the way they perform for straightening my long hair. They are a fabulous quality and very cheap to buy. I paid just £9.99 for them and bought them from Argos, the usual price was £14.99 so a little saving on the original price. They are well worth this price and super value for money.
I highly do recommend these straighteners, they style very well and they help the hair look nice and shiny too. Would be ideal for teenagers who are just beginning to straighten their hair and style it and a cheap price to try using a hair straightener in my opinion. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with the results for straightening the hair. An ideal Christmas or birthday gift for a loved one at a very good price. Think would also be good for shorter hair too.
Also appears on Ciao under my username pinky50.
I give these straighteners the full 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
Straighteners are one of my essentials that I cannot image to be without now. I only have short hair but first thing in the morning before it is straightened, it really looks like a natural disaster happened on my head, it is not a pleasant sight at all. When I was visiting my parents in October I left my hair straighteners behind and whilst I do have full size straighteners at home (used in the past when I had long hair), it is very difficult to use them on a short hair. Since my parents live 1200 miles away I have asked for mini straighteners for Christmas. Imagine my surprise about 3 weeks ago when my hubby presented me with these mini straighteners that he brought for me as a little early Christmas treat to use now.
***Packaging & Straighteners***
I was happy to be presented with little cardboard box with a small window which revealed cute little straighteners. I was pleased to see that the straighteners were nice shiny girly deep pink - purple in colour. I also noticed that they are really small, possibly smaller than my last mini straighteners. Talking about the size, these straighteners are only 15cm long with the plates itself being only 6cm long. Considering how small the straighteners are, the cord is 180cm which in my opinion is decent length. Instructions that came with the straighteners just contain some safety information, the point to notice thought is that this product claims 3 year guarantee.
***All the performance - half the size . . .***
The straighteners are easy to use, I just plug them in and glide the on/off button on the side to "I" position to turn them on. There is no other buttons for the temperature control or anything like that which may find with more expensive hair straighteners. This suits me well though and as long as the product does what it should we haven't got a problem. They get hot quickly though, as soon as I plug them in I can feel the plates getting warm and within less than 30 seconds, plates get too hot to hold on to.
So are these straighteners any good? Babyliss claims you get "all the performance in half a size". This is true only if you are using them on short hair like I do or for small touch up and fringes (as manufactures recommends) then you will have no problem. Should you want to use them for bigger jobs, even for slightly longer hair, you may struggle due to how small the plates are. It will take you ages to straighten even medium size hair and unless you want to spend hours doing your hair in the morning I reconsider getting different hair straighteners. Using them so far, I have managed to achieve excellent results i.e straight hair and as a bonus, straighteners even leave them looking shiny. The plates are smooth and glide through my hair with minimal effort.
Slight niggle for me is that straighteners get very very hot on the outside. There are a rubber grips provided to use when straightening hair to avoid burning your fingers but this didn't stop me burning myself few times now. This morning I caught my scalp as the straighteners touched it accidentally. I have short hair so sometimes it is difficult to straighten my hair without touching my scalp. I have also burned my fingers as forgotten that straighteners get hot and moved my hand down the handle away from protective grip. Ouch.!! I guess I just need to remember to keep my fingers on the grips, however my previous straighteners I used didn't have the problem of getting really hot on the outside so I find this really annoying especially knowing that I am likely to burn my scalp again.
Other than this, I cannot fault these hair straighteners, especially for the price my husband paid for it. I believe he paid only £9.99 (reduced from £14.99) at Boots which is really cheap even at full price. They retails at £4.99 at Amazon.co.uk (December 2012). Available in other colours if you do not like pink one.
Hair straighteners, not something that I needed, but something that my sister really wanted. I was born with thin, straight hair and she got the frizzy thick hair. Frustrated with it, she has been begging me to buy her a pair of straighteners for her birthday. So off I have been on the hunt for the right pair, however with little money or experience in the hair straightening department, my research became a mass of confusion...until I ran into the Babyliss mini straighteners in a highstreet shop, and melted at its cuteness.
The Babyliss nano straighteners come in different colours, and I knew pink was the right colour for my sister, now of course I had to do the research to see if these straighteners were any good before purchasing them. I came across mixed reviews, some stating that it is brilliant and just like professional straighteners only travel size, others stated that this is no good for thick hair. Searching for the best price, amazon came on top with the green nano straighteners at only £4.91 and free postage and packaging. With a £3 amazon gift voucher left in my account, I decided to purchase a pair for myself.
Delivery was quick, arrived within three days of ordering. The straighteners come packaged in a box, which includes instructions and a three year guarantee. The straighteners are very thin and even smaller than I remembered seeing in the shops. They come attached to a wire and the standard three pin plug. It is a shame they don't provide a pouch or bag for it, if you are carrying it around in your handbag, the wire is going to create a bit of a nuisance, so it is worth getting a bag for it. There are no heat settings on the straighteners, just an on off sliding switch on the side of the straighteners, with a small red light to show you when you have switched it on. The straighteners do have to be plugged in and switched on via the sliding switch in order for the heat plates to be activated. Once switched on it only takes about 30 seconds for the straighteners to heat up. It heats up to 200 degrees C, and this is quite hot. There are little pads on the straighteners indicating this is where to place your fingers when in use, so as not to burn your hand. Once heated up, take bunch of hair and straighten. My hair recently all chopped off, is now short (shoulder length) and remains thin, I found it very easy and quick to use this on my hair to straighten out the curve left by my ponytail, and the curve at the tip of my hair, where it either turns inward or outward depending on which way I comb it. The straighteners did their job, and straightened my hair, I probably had to use two or three times on the same bunch of hair in order for it to have straightened completely. The heat takes around ten to fifteen minutes to fade, after the straighteners have been unplugged. My hair remained soft and shiny, so there was no damage done to my hair.
So far I found that it worked, but the real test was yet to come, this was after all meant to be a test to see if this would work on my sister's hair. So I decided it was best to let her in on the secret that I may well buy her a pair of straighteners for her birthday but first I had to test out whether my pair worked on her long thick hair. As the straighteners are thin, it is difficult to take lots of hair and straighten it at the same time. Therefore this straightener worked a lot slower on my sister's hair than it did mine, strand by strand, we straightened and straightened again, and while it took around 30 to 40 minutes to straighten all her hair (bear in mind her hair is knee length), the straighteners did work. Her hair was straight, and continued to remain straight for the rest of the evening through to the next day, until she washed her hair. But the most important thing is that she absolutely loved it...so for her birthday I will be purchasing the nano straighteners in pink available at £7.99 on Amazon.
For those of you who know no different, this pair of straighteners will not disappoint.
Hey everyone, this is a great flat iron for people with short hair and people with bangs who don't want to burn themselves with the big flat irons. Since im natural I always try to find flat irons that can straighten my curly hair and these as well as the remington flat irons do the trick. This flat iron is great for when you are on vacation because they don't take up that much room in your bag. It comes with 1/2" or 1" titanium plates and it goes to 450 F.
I really like these mini straighteners as they're great for sticking in your handbag or for use when travelling, the perfect size and weight to carry around! They come in a range of colours, my favourites being the hot pink, and my sister owns a green pair! They only take a minute or two to heat up and they reach the same temperature as most good, usual sized straighteners, and there's a little red light on the side of them to let you know when they are turned on! Upon buying, I wasn't sure how easy to use they would be because of their small size, but I found that my hands fit them perfectly without them being too fiddly or difficult to hold. My only problem with these was that for them to straighten my hair properly and for the style to hold, I had to do it in very, very small sections. My hair is just below shoulder length and fairly thick and so as I tried to use them like my normal sized straighteners, the hair wouldn't hold it's style and often just went wavy. The only way I could get them to hold was to divide my hair into tiny sections, around 2cm wide and very thin in each section, and straighten each of these sections separately. This obviously took me a lot longer than my usual straighteners, and definitely wouldn't be good for use in a hurry! Shorter or thinner hair probably wouldn't have this problem and so they'd be perfect, but for longer and thicker hair I would suggest only using them if your usual straighteners don't fit in your bag!
Overall, they're a really great product though, and I don't feel like I wasted any money in buying them.
These are the life-savers if you ever needed one.
Mini hair straightners. First reactions may be that they are cheap, dont straighten your hair and take forever. You are wrong! (with these ones anyway).
They are fantastic for travelling because of their miniature stature. They can fit into any bag meaning you can pull them out when in a hair emergency. It also helps if your friends are there because of the bold pink colour which gets everyone staring at them in awe.
They only take a few minutes to get to a good heat for straightening so you dont fall asleep waiting for them. The performance of these straightners is amazing with them having the ability to actually do a good job at making your hair straight. Warning: I wouldnt suggest them to work as well on long and/or thick hair as this could take a long time. But if you are travelling then they are definitely recommended to anyone.
The actual quality is also great because they are nice and sturdy so cant easily be broken when travelling. The on and off button means that you cant heat them up by accident when they are plugged in and the light means that you know when the straightners are on or off. (it lights up red when they are on).
The cable connecting the plug is of a good length so you arent tripping over it or having to pull it because it is too short. It means that the cable can easily be wrapped around the straightners to put into a bag.
Conclusions: The only product i would go for if you need travelling straightners because they actually have the ability to straighten your hair. And they are a great price!
