Coming from a house full of girls, we go through quite a few pairs of straighteners, once when my sister took our GHD's on holiday for two weeks, I decided to and buy a cheap little pair of straighteners to keep me going while she (and my GHD's) were away.
The main reason that I bought these straighteners was the price, I didn't really want to spend much as they were only going to be used temporarily and were bought as more of a 'back up' pair of straighteners. These straighteners cost me £20, which isn't a bad price for a pair of straighteners in my opinion, I also had heard that Carmen Girls was a good brand to buy and liked the fact that they were pink and girly.
These straighteners are made with ceramic plates, though I found that they still tugged a little at my hair, they were easy enough to use and straightened my hair quite well. These straighteners heat up to 200 degrees, which is around the same heat as the GHDs for a fraction of the price, also they heat up really quickly, I haven't timed them exactly, but the box claims that they are ready in 30 seconds and I would say that is pretty accurate as I have to wait no time for them to heat.
Carmen Straighteners are quite nice looking, they are pretty pink and have a little shiney marking on their surface, they also have a handy on/off button that tells you when you have them switched on, meaning that there is less chance of you burning your fingers.
I am really happy with the results that these straighteners give my hair, they leave it very straight and it doesn't take a long time or a lot of styling to get good results from these straighteners. They are a bit more bulky than the GHD's and they sometimes snag a bit at my hair, but as long as I am careful and gentle with them they work great and are really worth the money.
Another good point about these straigtheners is that they come with their own little pink storage box, this is quite a girly box that is decorated with butterflies, these straighteners fit nicely into this box and it is quite handy to keep them out of the way and tidy in the house and also they are easily stored when travelling as well.
Overall I think that these are a great little straightener, they look lovely and girly looking and they work fantastically, they feel a little bulky and I wouldn't say that they are as good as the GHD's, but they are much cheaper, and they still leave my hair lovely and straight and that is the most important thing. Overall I would give these 4 out of 5 stars.
