I'm currently on my second pair of GHD's in 8 years, that's pretty good going!
The Special Edition purple GHDs have a lovely floral pattern on them and perform just as fantastically as we have all come to expect from the GHD brand. They heat up very quickly, and beep to let you know when they are hot enough to use. With the thinner style width, they can also be used to create effortless waves or stylish curls.
Another really handy feature is the auto shut-off function, which turns the straighteners off automatically when they have been left on for a certain amount of time, to ensure there are no accidents should the straighteners accidentally be left on.
The carry case comes with a heatproof mat to prevent damage to furniture and carpets, and the kit includes a GHD travel hairdryer and two GHD hairclips - everything you need to get your hair looking and feeling great!
GHD are definitely one of the best brands of hair straighteners for giving perfectly straight smooth hair. I have had a few different versions of GHD straighteners over the years as they seemed to be the only brand that could keep my ridiculously frizzy hair under control. However I have noticed they only seem to last about two years before they suddenly conk out for no apparent reason. I bought the GHD IV Limited Edition Styler Straightener after the GHD classic styler I had started producing smoke when I was using it one day. The hair dryer that came with this set of straighteners lasted about two months before it started making an awful squeaky noise then went 'bang' one day when I was using it. Wasn't very impressed with that. I then got about another 18 moths usage out of the straighteners before they decided to start producing smoke when I used them. I decided to replace them with a different brand and although I don't get the same look they do the job fine and are lot cheaper and will hopefully last longer.
I used to swear by these GHD hair straighteners, until mine broke and I replaced them with a different brand. While the GHD straighteners give you perfectly straight, long lasting, straight hair I would advise that you only use them once a day. The extreme heat of the straighteners left the ends of my hair very damaged, which was noticed by my hair dresser as well as myself. My hairdresser suggested that the damage was most likely caused by the high temperatures the straighter reach burning the ends of my hair which was gradually getting worse the more and more i used them.
My mum still uses hers and her hair is not too damaged but there has been a definite decrease in the healthiness of her hair. On the plus side if used occasionally they won't do too much damage and you can create curls with the straighteners as well. However I think that the straighteners are better suited for salon use or for people with hard to manage or very curly hair. If your hair just needs a little straighten I would opt for a alternative straightener.
I have been using GHD's for a few years now and find them to be the best for my Hair type. I have tried a few cheaper brands but they haven't made a dent in Straightening my Hair to be honest. My Hair is pretty thick and has a slight Frizz to it, so it isn't the easiest Hair to make smooth and sleek.
I had a shot of these ones as my ones were away getting fixed and I couldn't see myself not being able to Straigten my Hair for the 5 days that I would have to do without my ones.
These ones are just the same as the normal Mark 4 ones which have been out for years and from what I have heard the mark 4 ones are the best selling ones in the range. The only difference with these ones is the slightly bright Pink colour. You get GHDs in different colours but these ones are also linked to Charity and for each sale it is stated that £10 will go to Cancer. From what I believe they aren't any more expensive than the other ones. The colour of them is quite nice but i'm not too much into pink so I probably couldn't see myself buying them in this shade.
So what is so good about these straighteners? They are the main brand named Straigteners in the market and have a bit price tag to match this brand. You can buy them online for a little cheaper but there is so many fake sites around that if the price seems to be too good to be true then it probably is. Expect to pay around the £130 mark, but this price can vary slightly. They are pretty sleek and slimline and have Ceramic Plates, which I think most Straigteners have these days. They heat up quickly and probably get to their 220 degrees in approx 15 seconds - if that. They are easy to use and the cable is long so you have a good distance with these. The Cable which joins to the Strighteners moves around freely so the Cable shouldn't snap or that.
This brand of Straighteners make light work of my thick wavy Hair. I don't even think it takes 5 minutes to go over my Hair as just a few seconds once over makes my Hair nice and smooth.
This brand is a great one for me and although they are expensive they are worth every penny and I will keep using these.
When and Where:
I had the limited edition pink straighteners for christmas off my boyfriend. As they were the special edition pink ones, £10 from the purchase went to Breast Cancer Care aswell which was lovely to know I was doing my bit! They cost around £110 from Amazon, which admittedly is expensive for straighteners but in my opinion with electricals you only get what you pay for! They arrived swiftly from amazon and come christmas day I got to straightening.
They are gorgeous, white straighteners with pink floral and swirly patterns all over. They came with a heatproof carry case and also a little GHD mirror. Ive always liked GHDs as when Ive used them at a friends house or in the hair dressers they always glide so smoothly over hair and you dont feel any snags like i used to with my old straighteners. These were no exception and slid over hair without a problem. They get very hot and kept my hair lovely and straight for a whole day and night, I dont really need to straighten it again the next day. They heat up very quickly to 200 degrees, I'd say in around 10 - 20 seconds, and make a little beeping noise so you know they're done. They also light up to you remember theyre still on! Id say they are suitable for most hair types, and would be better on thicker more unruly hair than other straighteners due to the high temperature and smooth plates. These straighteners also turn themselves off after a while with no use which is really useful and also makes them very safe! So they wont burn your house down if you forget to turn them off :)
There aren't many. One thing I can say is that because they are white theyve gotten a bit grubby, due to being held all the time and any hair product going on them. Another is that theyre quite expensive, but in my personal opinion they are worth the price. One other thing is that, with my old straighteners they had a little screen on them so you could choose what temperature you wanted them to be at, GHDs just have one temperature setting- very hot!
These are a truly fab pair of straighteners that really do what theyre meant to. I have been incredibly pleased with their performance, and plus, theyre so pretty!
GHDs - probably the most well known brand of straighteners out there and for a very good reason! Hardwearing, good quality and fantastic value, the clue is in the name, GHD - Good Hair Day!
I got this set as a Christmas present in 2008, they cost my boyfriend £155 from a local hair salon and came complete with a lovely carry case, travel hairdryer and two styling clips, all presented in a beautiful damask purple box with velvet lid.
Of course you can buy this set from a variety of places now including salons, online GHD resellers and other websites. The price tag may seem a bit steep but you get what you pay for, nearly three years later my set is still going strong, they are used almost daily and I've had no problems so far.
The actual straightener itself comes with the same purple damask pattern as is on the presentation box, a long swivel cord helps to stop tangling and the power light combined with beep sensor to let you know that the styler has reached it's optimum heat comes in very handy. On many occasions I've forgotten if I've turned them on and the beep for the termperature lets me know they are ready to use. Of course the styler does get very hot at the end where the irons are but when they reach a temperature of 200+ degrees that is to be expected!
These straighteners are extremely easy to use on mid to long length hair although are maybe a bit too wide for use on short hair and I've known friends with thicker and longer hair that have borrowed these have had to take longer to do their hair than me.
I've found no problems in styling the whole head, the styler can be used on hair close to the scalp with no problems and as long as you don't hold them on your hair for too long there will be no damage to the hair itself.
Another useful thing with this styler is that if you intend to travel abroad then you can remove the english part of the plug by unscrewing the screw and there is already a european style plug underneath where the english adaptor was - no need for plug adaptors!
As the styler continues to hold the heat for a little while after being turned off it is advisable to leave the straightener resting on the opened out carry case which also doubles up as a heat mat, very handy in not burning surfaces in the home.
As an extra, the travel hairdryer is only really good for occasional use, it heats up alot and can quite often produce a burning smell, it takes longer to dry your hair as it is only a travel size folding hairdryer but is fine for the odd weekend away or overnight trip.
All in all a fantastic set with the main tools needed for complete hair styling, long lasting and worth every penny!
GHD straighteners are the best - I just don't think that can be argued with. You hear reports about them burning out etc but I think you just need to look after them! My old pair broke (but that is because I was stupid and got the wire tangled up in a chair castor :(... ) and I made the mistake of replacing them with another, cheaper brand. The second I switched on the other pair I knew they would never live up to my GHD's, which just slide through your hair so easily, heat up instantly and get great results.
So when I was lucky enough to get this pretty, neat little set for Christmas I was over the moon. Not only are the straighteners great but the hairdryer is also perfect for putting into an overnight bag. The set comes with a short DVD on how to get different looks with the straighteners and I've found this very useful. All of this comes in a heat-proof mat/carry case kind of thing that makes it very convenient for traveling whilst brightening up your dressing table!
Yes, this is expensive but I really do think it is worth the money spent. All in all, a great product!
I saw this set on a well known shopping channel and just had to have it. I brought it just before christmas and it cost just over £150 for the set.
The set comes presented in a lovely deep purple gift box, that is absolutely great for storing the set all the time. It is far too nice to put in a cupboard though so mine is on my dressing table and looks gorgeous.
In this set you get a regular sized hair ghd straightener, travel sized hair dryer and a roll which holds both. I also receieved some styling products and clips, but im not sure if this is the same everywhere.
The roll holds both all the kit and doubles up as a heat resistant mat. Everything in the kit is in the lovely deep purple colour and it really does look very special.
I have had mine for quite a few months now and love it. Both the dryer and straightener are dual voltage so can be used almost anywhere. For me this was one of the reasons I liked GHD in the first place. The dryer has all the power of a full sized product but is lighter and easier to use and store. The straightener is fab. It heats up in less than a minute and really does work very well. I have wavy hair and can get my hair poker straight with these straighteners.
This was the first time I had used a ghd product for myself. My hairdresser uses them and always gets good results, but other than that this was my first time of trying them, when I brought this kit. I have to say I am very impressed and think they are well worth the extra money.
This set would make a wonderful gift for anyone who is into their hair and you would have to prise mine out of my hands to get them off me.
I have been a Ghd fan for around 6 years now & wouldn't be without my hair straighteners. The limited Edition purple straighteners are my fourth pair.
I received an email from the Ghd website, advertising the "new" purple straighteners when they first came out. I fell in love with them straight away - I had to have them! Luckily for me, my partner brought them for me that Christmas. I was a very happy lady that day.
The box it comes in is beautifully crafted with colour and patterns and the lid is lined with Velvet and has "Ghd" engraved into it. (To this day, I still keep my straighteners in the box. It was just too beautiful not to keep!)
The straighteners also come in a beautiful purple heat proof case. This consists of different compartments which are detachable - perfect for travel. There are also 2 purple Ghd hair grips a styling CD and a hairdryer.
The hairdryer itself is a slight let down & the only negative comment I have to give - it is perfect for taking on holiday as it is small & folds away. Yet for everyday use, I wouldn't recommend. It is not very powerful & takes a long time to dry hair - mine over heats very quickly & then cuts out.
The straighteners are very feminine & are a beautiful colour - perfect for any woman! They heat up within seconds & bleep when they are ready. A safety feature has also been added, if the straighteners haven't been used for 30 minutes they then switch them selves off!
The original Ghd's are widely available from hairdressers & online & vary in prices starting from around £99. I believe these prices to be fair - it is what you expect to pay for a brand new, genuine pair of Ghd's. However, the limited purple straighteners & any other limited addition ones are not that widely available once a new limited edition pair are brought out. They are also usually a bit more expensive (mine cost £159). I would not recommend buying these online from unknown websites - don't be tempted by cheaper prices as there are a lot of fakes around. I would also never recommend buying these second hand! Purchasing them off Ghd's website will cost you at least £99 but for this you have the comfort of knowing they are genuine (u can put your barcode into the website, which will confirm this). You also receive a 12 months warranty.
A perfect purchase for styling - not only for straightening hair; but also brilliant for curling, flicking & adding depth to hair etc. I wouldn't recommend any other product for styling hair & I guarantee once you use Ghd's for the first time, you will never want to use any other styling product!
I was lucky enough to get these ghd limited edition mark 4 hair straightners kit for christmas from my lovely sister she spoils me and my princess ever year.
They cost £140 from our local hair salon but they are all over the internet and can vary from £69.99 - £140.
The ghd set came in a lovely purple box with the gold scroll design on it and a purple velour lush lid.
They come in a handy roll up case that opens up with different compartments.
It also comes with a small hairdryer that is rubber coated for good grip. It also comes with 2 section clip that has the ghd logo on them.
The straightners are fantastic, they heat up so fast and bleep when they are at the right temp. You can choose what temp you want the straightners to heat up to. The plates are gold in colour and they have a long flex cable too. The ghds heat up to 200 degrees in 10 seconds. They have a gold scrolling design on them and they look stunning and excellent quality.
Comes with a dvd with step to step hair styling designs instructions to teach you flicks curls and to use the ghds properly.
I recommend you use the ghd protection heat spray with these and the ghd shampoo is good too. There are loads of ghd styling products that can be bought as well as many ghd straightners in some lovely designs and colours. I recommend shopping around for these to get the best price.
My only complaint is the hair dryer doesn't have enough power, it good for a small travel hair dryer.
I recommend the ghds i cant live without mine they are fantastic, the best i have ever used.
I have been a ghd fan for 7 years now, and when I got this for Christmas last year I was officially, deeply, madly in love. This set was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen in my entire life, and I love them just as much every single day when I use them.
The set includes the purple patterned ghd straightener, a small purple travel hairdryer, 2 sectioning hair clips, a travel case to carry both in, and all comes in a lovely purple, patterned box. It also came with a demonstration DVD to give you advice and ideas on how to use them. They are limited edition so I guess you can't get them direct anymore.
The straighteners heat up within 10 seconds, and bleep to alert you that they're fully heated, as well as the red light turning steady. They also have a safety feature which ensures that they turn off after 30 minutes to avoid overheating and damaging the surface they're on.
The plates are thin enough for relatively short hair/fringes and they glide through quickly and easily, leaving the hair not only straight but soft and silky too. The hair will stay straight all day, through most weathers.
The size of the plates also makes it possible to use them for curling as well, which they're also really good at.
The hairdryer isn't as good as the straighteners. I don't think it's powerful enough to use as your everyday hairdryer, but by a travel hairdryer standards it's really good. I just like it 'cause it matches the set, and it's purple!
The hair clips are useful for seperating your hair when you're straightening it, and of course they match! The carry case is really useful for when you're on the go. And the box can be used for anything!
I've owned the normal, original straighteners before and fell in love with them, but when I discovered the purple limited edition set, I knew I had to have it. The straighteners are the same top quality product you'd expect from any other ghd straightener. The pattern is GORGEOUS and classy with a vintage feel to it, which I much prefer over the pink edition.
Now, as with any ghd item, it comes with a hefty price tag. But in my opinion they are worth every.single.penny. And I'm not someone who ever goes for the expensive option, as I'm a bit of a bargain hunter.
I would recommend this to anyone who can afford it, because it REALLY is worth it. They make me happy every single day :)
After about 6/7 of my old ghd mk3's and a lot of deliberation I finally decided to treat myself to another pair of much-loved ghd's. There are numerous different designs and sizes of ghd straightener on offer but after a lot of research I eventually plumped on the Limited Edition Purple Indulgence Styler Set costing £129.00 from ghd's website...
*THE LIMITED EDITION STYLER SET*
The set includes:
~The ghd IV styler, which is offered in four colours - Purple Indulgence, Green Envy, Blue Serenity and Red Lust
~Heat resistant quilted styling pouch, matching the colour of the straightener you have chosen, with a tasselled zip and shiny silver ghd logo badge on the side
~Hard-shell black case which is pearlescent and changes colour to whichever colour you chose...i.e Black-Purple or Black-Red etc.
~And, if ordered from ghd's official site, free UK next-day delivery
*WHY ARE GHD'S SO GOOD?*
~Double-plated ceramic plates: heat-up evenly and are perfectly smooth so they glide easily through hair
~In-built temperature regulating micro-chip which keeps the plates a safe and effective styling temperature.
~LED indicator telling you when the straighteners have reached their optimum styling temperature.
~Straighteners use negative ion technology and infrared heating, all of which protects the hair and prevents moisture in the hair escaping and keeps hair straighter for longer : )
~Can be used for straightening, curling, waving, styling......
*IMPROVEMENTS FROM THE GHD MK3's*
~Auto-sleep mode, if left on and unattended for 30 minutes the straighteners will turn themselves off
~Advanced Ceramic heaters, the plates are extra-smooth and heat up perfectly evenly to a set monitored temperature for optimum styling results and minimum damage to your hair.
~Universal voltage, so wherever you take your straighteners on holiday they will work absolutely fine : ) yay!
~A more rounded-barrel, the rounded edges keep your hair from getting horrible 'straightening crimps' and looking unevenly block-straightened.
~The straighteners bleep when you turn them on and double-bleep when they are ready to use.
*DO THEY LIVE UP TO HYPE?*
The new ghd mk4 straighteners heat up really quickly and within 30-seconds of turning them on you can begin styling and possess beautifully styled non-frizzy, healthy-looking, soft-to the touch hair. I love my ghd stylers and the fact that I have now just replaced my old faithfuls speaks for itself! My mk3's cost £99.00 when I bought them from my hair salon about 7 years ago. In the time I owned them they broke only once...the wire became faulty, so I rang ghd headquarters the problem, sent them to them recorded delivery and they mended them and sent them back to me free-of-charge, even though the straighteners were well out of the official ghd 2-year warranty!!!!!! Whilst my straighteners were away being mended, which took less than two-weeks, I resigned myself to using my old straighteners (which weren't ghd's...oh no!), it was awful...I can truly say I never wanted and never do want to use any other straightener again. I know the quality of ghd's competitors has gone up now, but I still can't bring myself to not buy ghd. My first pair of mk3's still work, but are my back-up pair, and after having already had a good 7-8 years use out of them there is nothing which has driven me to change brands. If they do break ghd (Jemella ltd.) in my experience offer great customer service and although ghd's cost more than most straighteners less than £12 a year up to now on straighteners isn't bad!!!!!!!!!
