First of all I have to say I am part Jamaican and my hair is think, stubborn, extremely curly and pretty long!
Since I was a very curly haired child I wanted to have the option of straight hair and have experimented my entire life with different hair straighteners. These are by far the best ones I have ever used and I would never buy another brand again!
Just to give you an idea, the straitened a I used before I had gods, cost me £100 from a hairdresser and it took me about 1 hour to straighten my hair from scratch.
When I bought the ghd's they cost me only a little more from the hairdressers and it took me 20-30 minutes to straighten my hair from scratch.
They heat up in less than 1 minute which is great for the mornings that you're rushing around getting ready for work. Then once you're using them, they tame hair really quickly and easily so you aren't going over the same price of hair for your entire morning! (And we all know that means one extra snooze on the alarm before we wake up!)
Since I moved to ghd's I feel like my hair is in better condition in comparison to other hair straighteners. We all know that heat is bad for your hair but because ghd's get the job done so efficiently, it means your hair is exposed to less heat overall which results in a lot less damage too!
Online you can also find tutorials on how to use the straighteners for various other styles like curls. This is just as easy to do when you watch the tutorials and is also really quick to achieve.
One of the best things about it is no matter what hairstyle you choose, when you use the ghd's the style will stick around for the full day! (Unless you get your hair wet of course, we all know the worst enemy of hair is rain!)
But overall your hairstyle stays how you want it and doesn't start reverting back to your unwanted natural style at an inconvenient time.
Afew other good positives about ghd's include the length of the cord (which is 2m, I believe) which is great if your dressing table isn't directly next to the plug socket. Also they last a really long time. I do like to upgrade mine every so often but the current pair I have are 2 years old or so and are still going strong (touch wood). Even if you dd have issues they come with a one year warranty which means you can buy them with price of mind in case you did, by that small chance, get a faulty pair.
I am one of those people who loves to look good, but can't really be bothered spending lots of time achieving it (sorry, I know, it's lazy). This is why I really need a good set of straighteners that can transform my hair from 'just woken up birds nest' to 'presentable 19 year old' in about 10/15 minutes. I have tried 3 sets of straighteners from different makes and only the GHDs have passed the test and I am now a loyal customer (but have only ever had to buy the one pair, which says a lot).
The straighteners can be quite expensive (I got mine cheap at £99) but I feel that, with straighteners, you really do get what you pay for, and a pair of GHDs will last you years - making them great value for money. The come in a sleek box, with the distinctive gold and black design that matches the straighteners themselves. They also often come with a heat proof travel case, which is very handy for holidays.
When you first switch them on, a little red light appears. Then, after 20 or so seconds, they beep to let you know that they are hot enough to use (very hot, so be careful of fingers and ears). When you run them through your hair, they do so very smoothly, with no tugs to the hairs making it pain free. They quickly straighten the hair, leaving the hair glossy and straight. I have fine hair so can do it all at once, but my sister (who also owns these straigheners) has thicker hair and so clips up bits of her hair to straighten it section at a time, and is also a big fan.
Overall, I would highly recommend these straighteners, despite the price. You get what you pay for and, in this case, you pay for top quality.
I have used ghd products for over 10 years now. I originally had the ghd salon straighteners that I bought from Sally's and used them for years with out problems. I had to buy these as I was going on holiday and the voltage of the ones I had would not work and I really didn't want to use a voltage converter. I got these on sale for £100 which was really good. When they arrived they came in a very sleek looking box. These straighteners also come with a heat resistant travel case which is really good as they can be used on any surface. They are so simple to use you slide the button and a light comes on and you wait about 20 seconds, there is a beeping sound and they are ready to use. It's really handy having beeping as the originals don't and you need to watch out for the light flashing to know if they are ready. These are really simple to use. You start near the root and slowly slide down to the end of your hair. I love how these make my hair straight so quickly and you don't have to go over the same bits of hair over and over again, which of course means less damage! These straighteners also make my hair very sleek and glossy looking I always get a really good shine when using these. The results last a long time too, they last a full day in my hair without having to go over it. If I don't wash my hair I will just give it a quick run over again in the morning. I've also used this to create curls which has had limited success. Bottom line is if you can afford these then it's definetly a good investment as they are great straighteners and they last a long time.
GHD Straighteners may be pricey compared to other brands of straightening irons, but they are most definitely worth it. I have owned 3 pairs of GHD's in my life time, and the first 2 pairs only broke down to my own fault, they last a long time if you treat them correctly. GHD are also extremely helpful if you are to have any issues with any of their products.
Once you have plugged the irons in and switched them on they heat up within seconds, and beep once they're ready, also the light goes from flashing to solid once they are ready to use. The straighteners do not drag on your hair whilst styling, they glide down your hair leaving it feeling silky and smooth. My hair is very thick and naturally very frizzy and all over the place, so after styling with GHD's I feel a lot more human, and a lot less scarecrow! If you accidentally forget to switch the straighteners off after use, or you leave them unattended for 15 minutes, they started to beep and the light flashes a different colour, to notify you they're still on. If you happen not to notice or say you have left the room or gone out, so the straighteners do not get switched off after the warning, they will automatically shut off and cool down. This is great because it makes them a lot safer. When you buy GHD's from the UK, they actually have a EU plug inside the casing of the UK plug, so when I travel abroad to Europe - I just unscrew the case and they can be plugged directly into an EU plug socket. I also use my GHD's for curling my hair, and it is really easy to do and creates the most beautiful curls, I prefer them to rollers and curling tongs!
I cannot fault this product at all. I would never purchase any other brand of straightening irons since having GHD's, they are an absolute god send and I love them! Highly Recommend!
Now I know these may be a bit to pricey for some people's budget but I can honestly say they are worth every penny of the £120 I paid for my pair.I have quite thick wavy hair which is really hard to keep straight ....other straighteners which I had previously used really were not very good at keeping my hair straight for the whole day...The Ghd hair straighteners are very effective and when I straighten my hair in the morning it stays straight all day until the evening when I return home. There are lots of cheaper ceramic hair straighteners available but you won't ever find a pair that work as well as these...thats not to say other hair straightener brands won't work because obviously they will.....just not as effectively as these Ghd hair straighteners. You can usually pick them up for between £100-£170 depending on were you purchase them from..Beware of fakes as there are a lot of them out there on auction sites or unregulated selling sites...the fakes obviously won't be covered by the genuine Ghd ceramis hair straightners warranty...I had a fault in my pair after 2 months so I contacted Ghd under the warranty and they had them repaired and returned to me within 3 days which I found to be very impressive. It was only a minor fault and I have had no further issues. They heat up to a very hot temperature so beware when touching your hair directly after running the straightners over it as it may burn your fingers . Definitely invest in a pair of these as they will not disappoint you and you will be really happy with the results on your hair.
There are tons of hair straighteners on the market these days and GHD are definitely at the top, I wouldn't try any other brand nowadays. They are at the higher priced end of the market at about the £100 mark but they are well worth the money, I have had mine for over five years and they are still going strong. All I have had to do to them over that time is change the fuse once. You kind occasionally buy them on special offer, when I bought mine they came with a free GHD shampoo and conditioner.
The straighteners themselves are black in colour, you can also buy other colours these days, with gold text and plates. They are lightweight and very easy to transport.
The straighteners take seconds to heat up, you know they are ready to use when they beep and the red light starts to flash. They glide easily through the hair and don't tug or pull at any point, like some cheaper brands do. They are perfect for straightening but also produce lovely long lasting girls. There are videos on youtube that show you how to achieve these.
I have used these every day and have never felt like they have caused any damage to my hair. The straighten hair quick and easily, I never spend longer than two to three minutes using them. They always leave it looking shiny and friz free,
You never have to worry about forgetting to switch them off as they have an auto shut off system when they haven't been used for a period of time.
If your a frequent hair straightener user this product is for you, the saying buy cheap buy twice applies in the hair straighter world. I wouldn't recommend any other product.
I have tried many different brands of hair straighteners but nothing beats a ghd. I for me they straighten your hair the fastest they heat to a great temperature. They take out all the frizz and fuzz, leaving your hair silly and smooth. They also make great curls that last and hold their bounce . they're light weight and the travel bags and accessories and heat mats you get with them are brilliant. Definitely worth the price I have had mine for probably over 4 years with no breakages or problems and dread to see the day they give up on me. I Love them and would highly recommend them to anyone that likes straight or curly / wavey hair. All my friends also have them and be they would never choose another hair straightener brand, and my hair salon uses them also, which I think prows just how amazing and trustworthy they are. Go quick and buy them you wot be disappointed!
These straightners are absolutely amazing. I got an old pair from salon services and they lasted me a good while but they fell apart and melted my hair in the end. So my father gave and bought these for me they cost around £120 but they are worth every penny. They give such a smooth finish and they heat up so quickly. What i love the most is that when you accidently leave them on they switch off if they haven't been touched in around 20-30 minutes, i would panic all day if i thought i left them on so this is a bit of security. They really are so professional and you can curl your hair and everything with ease. They are really comfy to use in your hand, and you can't feel the heat in the handle either which is brilliant. They are the best straightners on the market in my opinion and its worth the money spent.
I have been using hair straighteners to tame the mane for many years. I started with cheap pair but once you have tried GHD's it is hard to go back. It takes half the time and results stay until I next wash my hair without having to re-straighten. Although they are an expensive item, if you straighten your hair regularly it is money well spent as the quality is so much better. I use mine all the time and now couldn't live without them. I would struggle to buy another straightener and wouldn't hesitate to recommend a pair of GHDs. they usually come with a two year guarantee and last many years. I have had 2 sets in the last 10 years and the second pair are still going strong! I first bought the largest style to cut time straightening but now have a thinner pair as they are more versatile with other style like curls.
In my opinion I have got to say these GHD hair straighteners are the best I have ever come across and used. I have tried several other branded hair straighteners over the years and nothing comes as good as these. I have got quite long hair and it takes around 10 minutes to do it with thees GHD straightener compared to other brands that took ages and the finished result was never as good! These GHDs take around 30 seconds to heat up so there is no waiting about and it also bleeps to let you know its ready to use. It leaves my hair very straight, soft and shiny all day! Its also got auto shut off so if you are in a rush and forget to switch them off it shuts off after around 30 minutes. Its slim, light weight and small enough to pack and take traveling with you. Fantastic and I love them!
I have been using this straighteners for 3 years now in place of my cheap high street purchased pair and I have to say they have exceeded my high expectations. I was using them every day to straighten out my crazy bed hair, and once straightened they hold all day long which is a lot better than my cheap pair which I often found did not hold and I had to re-straighten my hair part way through the day. Although GHD straighteners are not cheap they are well worth the money and they last. I would not think twice about purchasing another pair of GHD's or recommending them to anyone that is interested in listening. The only thing I can guarantee is that once you have tried these you will not want to return to the straightening iron you were using before. They often come with a warranty usually of 2 years.
I have owned my pair of GHDs for four years now and in that time I have not picked up a single hair styling tool other than my GHDs. They are perfect for not only straightening hair, but also for creating soft curls or beachy waves.
CURL: clamp straighteners at the roots, twist upwards, turning them up and in towards your head, hold for a few seconds and then slowly glide them down the hair and you're left with a nice, bouncy curl.
WAVE: start as though you're going to do a curl but instead of gliding the whole way down the hair, move down in sections, alternating twists up and in towards the head with twists under and in towards the head. Do this three or four times depending on hair length and you've created really pretty waves.
STRAIGHT: If you're going down the conventional route, simply glide the straighteners through the hair an you're left with straight, sleek hair.
To turn on the GHDs, you plug them in and on the inside of the styler, there is a little sliding switch.
When you turn the straighteners on, a light will come on on the inside of the styler, the GHDs will heat up for a few seconds and a beep will sound and the light will begin to flash. This is when the straighteners are ready to be used.
They do get very hot to achieve the best results possible but they also cool down extremely quickly.
They come with a heat mat so that you aren't putting them on a surface which may get damaged by the heat too.
I would recommend using their heat protectant spray with the straighteners also as it helps to keep your hair in the best condition.
After four years with the same pair, they also last for a really long time so it's definitely an investment worth making.
I know I would never be without mine now and give them the big thumbs up.
I purchased these god straighteners thinking they were going to be a hype and no better than any other high street purchased pair, I was so wrong from the first time i tried them I noticed the difference, they heat up instantly and alert you when they are ready for use, they glide through the hair with ease and left my hair straight, shiny and static free. I also have used them to practice curling my hair and this is very easy also. My daughter has just started hairdressing college and I have purchased a second pair for her, she also says they are easy to use and very practical as they replace curlers and she only has to take one item with her. I have found my hair to be in better condition since using these and can justify the higher price tag for the quality of the product.
I got these straighteners for Christmas and I was so pleased as i had always wanted a pair of ghds. They have exceeded my expectations. They make my hair so smooth and sleek. I have very thin hair and these work great with it. Would I recommended? Without a doubt. Great gift! I will most certainly purchase another pair of ghds in the future and maybe buy someone else as a gift. Now they are abit pricey that's the only problem with these. But then again in my eyes they are worth the price for the overall effect you have from them. They look stylish and they defo live up to the ghd name. Best straighteners around by far! I have recommended to all my friends. I like the fact they are not clumpy and wide as my hair is so thin. Not sure how they would work with thick hair. Thanks for reading
Fantastic hair straighteners! I have thick, wavy, frizzy hair and GHDs have so far proven to be the best for making my hair straight and smooth, and in the quickest time. This is probably due to the high temperatures they reach and the smoothness of the plates.
These straighteners are also great for curling hair. As they have rounded plates, and a swivel cord which allows you to move the straighteners around with ease and without getting tangled.
The straighteners heat up extremely quickly, so no need to wait 10 minutes until you can start. And to make sure you know they are hot enough to use they beep when they reach an optimum temperature. Plus, you can have straight hair on holiday, as they have a travel plug fitted inside the mains plug, which can be easily accessed with a screw driver!
They are also fitted with safety features, which I have found useful on many occasions. There is a red light which flashes when the straighteners are on, and the straighteners have a cut off switch inside. So if you have not used them for more than 30minutes they turn off by themselves, and they do not turn on in temperatures less than 5 degrees Celsius (I have never personally seen this feature, as I have never been in a room that cold).
The only problem I have had with these straighteners is I have taken a pair on holiday with me, and even though the wattage and volts were compatible with the mains plug, part of the memory board inside stopped working and one ceramic plate would not heat up. However, when I contacted GHD about this, because it was still within the two year warrantee, they assessed my straighteners, told me it was a fault, and sent a brand new pair out to me. So you even get great customer service if needed!
Before this incident I had a pair of GHD's similar to the IV pair for 7 years, which got used nearly every day! This shows how much I love the GHD straighteners, and how durable they can be!
