Nicky Clarke NSS028 Desired Super Professional Salon 230 Straightener
Advantages: go really hot, straight results
Disadvantages: not the best for styling
I have these straighteners for my casual usage as I save my GHD's for more professional looks. I got these a while ago and although I had never purchased a Nicky Clarke product before, I thought these seemed liked quite good value for money and I liked the colour of them. All straighteners nowadays seem to come with pretty good features but I just liked the overall look of these and they go to a decent enough temperature. I decided to give them a try and hoped these would give me the results that I desired.
These straighteners are red in colour and have a rounded finish at the edges. The ceramic plates on these are black in colour and inside is the switches to turn on the heat and power. These come with a 360 degree swivel cord to also make life easier for styling. They are quite light in weight to hold also and have quite a long cord to make it easier to stretch these across the room if you need to. They come with a box and a heatproof mat.

These straighteners are very easy when it comes to heating them up, they just need to be plugged into a socket and then there is settings to scroll the dial right up to max if you want them at their hottest of 230 degrees. This is quite hot but if you have thicker hair like myself, then this really isn't too bad as it will get you results. When you put these on a red light will show and it flickers to let you know when to use them. These do get very hot so you need to be careful not to burn yourself and place on the heatproof mat to protect surfaces.
With these there is an auto shutdown feature so that if you forget to put these off then it will shut down to stop any accidents occurring. Now, when using these I make full use of the swivel cord as it really helps with styling, these do work with curls but I feel the results are not as good with these in comparison to other brands that I have used. These are probably just best for getting hair poker straight as it straightens my hair with ease and gives it shine too to make my hair look good.
Having the ceramic plates, really does help for straightening as it locks in the heat to protect hair and get smoother results. I find that with these getting so hot, I only need to run these over my hair quickly a couple of times and the hair will achieve great straight results. I have wavy hair naturally and so use a heat protection spray at the same time as using these to protect my hair from split ends and damage. Sometimes, after these have been on a while I turn them down slightly but they remain hot even after usage which is great.
I really like these straighteners but not for doing any look other than straight. These are easy to carry around and easy to use but they are not the best straighteners I have owned and could be better for styling. I'd like these to have had a digital screen so that you could see what temperature these are at but other than that I wouldn't change much else about them. The ceramic plates are easy to clean with a cloth and these are ideal if you have quite thick hair as they will work on it.
To purchase these straighteners, you can get them quite a few places such as Debenhams who are selling them for £72 or Comet online are selling them for £45.99 which is the best price I have seen yet.
