“ Brand: Nicky Clarke / Gender: for Women „
When my original straighteners began to give poor results I wanted to get some more but I didn't have much money at the time, I shopped around and found these straighteners and seeing that they had great reviews I decided to buy them. The straighteners cost me £25 about a year ago however they cost about £30 to buy now.
The straighteners came packaged in a black box with a picture of the straighteners on the front. When you buy a set of these straighteners 10% of the sale goes to ovarian cancer action which I think is a great idea and should be advertised more.
The straighteners are black in colour with a woman symbol on the side, the plates are a lime green in colour and are ceramic, the straighteners are long and thin in shape giving them a greater area for straightening your hair which is great with my hair as it is long and thick so takes a while to get through. The sides of the plates are slightly rounded so that they can also be used for curling your hair although I don't use them for curling as my hair doesn't curl very well.
The controls for the straigheners are just up from the plates on the inside, there is a sliding switch to turn them on and off however the position isn't great as when you turn them off you can easily catch your fingers on the plates and burn yourself. There is also a dial to vary the temperature depending on the thickness of your hair, the dial has settings for fine, medium, thick and max. I always set them on max when I use them as my hair is so thick.
The straighteners heat up to 230 degrees which was once of the features I looked for when I bought them as I knew at the time the best GHD temperature was 230 degress. The straighteners have an auto shut off for safety but I never leave my straighteners unattended and I can't say it works as I never give them chance to need to have an auto shut off.
The straighteners came with a 1 year guarantee although I think that is about up now but I have never had any problems with them in that time. The straighteners heat up quickly and there is a light on the underneath which shows when they are ready and glide through my hair with ease, my hair is left feeling silky and smooth without any kinks which is what I wanted. With these straighteners it doesn't take long to do all my hair which I was quite impressed with since it is half way down my back. Another plus point is that the power lead is very long allowing me to see in the mirror at the same time as having them plugged in. I would recommend these straighteners and think they are fantastic value, my sister has used her GHD straighteners on my hair before and I can honestly say that these straighteners give just as good results on my hair, my hair even stays pretty straight the following day too.
