These straighteners do a good job of straightening my hair and dare I say it they are probably just as good as my GHD’s were. I’m not sure about the Keratin in them and whether it actually does anything but my hair after using them is left looking straight and smooth and there is a nice shine to it. I try to use a heat protection spray though when straightening my hair so it might be that which gives it the shine. Regardless they straighten my hair perfectly and I can go from wild woman to groomed pretty quickly with these.
The straighteners comes with some pretty fancy technology in them too. They have a sensor in them to detect moisture in the hair and adjusts the heat if it doesn’t detect it. I don’t notice all these things when using them but it seems to work as my hair has never got damaged or singed when using them.
I really like the length of the cord with these straighteners too as it is something that I think is important. I think you need a decent length cord as the plug isn’t always positioned next to a mirror and also it makes it easier to reach the back of your hair when the cord is a nice length. There is a safety cut off feature too which cuts the straighteners off if they haven’t be used for a certain amount of time. It’s not something that I have ever needed to use as I am fanatical about switching them off at the mains everytime that I use them but it is nice to know that safety has been thought of when designing them.
You get a really nice carry case for the them which also doubles up as mat to place them on when in use as it is heat resistant. The case also has a pouch for some small hair accessories and it fastens securely thanks to the velcro fastening.
While I still mourn my GHD’s I think it is just because of the name more than anything else as I haven’t missed them or felt like I have had to compromise in any way by using these. They might be cheaper but in day to day use I haven’t noticed any difference in the performance and if anything I think I might even prefer certain things about these ones more. They make straightening my hair an easy and enjoyable experience and just saves me some time in the morning as I can turn these on and within a few seconds they are ready to go. The full price is maybe a little bit on the expensive side but I have seen them in loads of places for around about £40 which I feel is a great price for them.
**Reason for purchase**
Why does anyone buy straighteners? I needed a second cheap(ish) pair of straighteners to leave at the other half's( before we moved in together) My hair is quite thick and curly/wavy not in a cute way but a oh my god has she even brushed that mop sort of way .I needed ones that went quite hot but as they weren't for everyday use i didn't want them to be too expensive.
Ive had products from the brand before so i knew they were quite good. Also at work i used to deal with returns and this was a product that we sold plenty off but id never seen any come back so my reasoning was they must be quite good.
This product looks quite nice - it is silver and black with the name on it.You have the little setting buttons along the side with the degrees written on the flat (outer side) of the straighteners. Its really easy to use with there being a minus button to make it cooler and plus to turn the heat up.
It has a very fast heat up time , when you want to use something you want to do it straight away and not have to wait.
The plates are coated and don't drag though your hair.
This also comes with a storage pouch which i think will be handy for taking it with me on holiday.
The heat settings are 160 - 230˚C which makes this suitable for different hair types.
**Price and where to get**
This costs £38.99 from amazon. When i got it i paid £50 and that was reduced from £90. I think its worth it.A lot of brands i think your just paying for the name.Looking online some of the ghds only go up to 185°C and they cost over £100 more.
I recommend this its quite cheap, looks stylish and gives you the choice of multiple heat settings.
Hi there everyone,
I have had these straighteners for a month now that I have purchased on amazon for £60. So I am now going to do a review on the Remington S8590 Keratin Therapy Straightener.
I would like to start off with that i have really curly afro hair, so my hair is hard to stay straight without reverting and frizzing up into a frizz ball. these hair straighteners are really good it gets my hair really straight with minimal damage and static. I do own quite a lot of hair straighteners, some better than others but these are in my top 10. I love the fact that it has a heat protection sensor which means less damage which is so important to me.it has a high temperature setting which I love because thick curly hair like mine can be quite hard to straighten on low temperatures. so, really good no faults that I can see.
