I bought this mid last year to replace my old straighter. As a university student I do not have a large budget and this was a well priced straighter which I could use to straighten and wave my hair. I bought it for 24 pounds in TKMAX. Itself: The straighter has a 5 way button in the handle. The left and right buttons controlled the temperature, the centre is the on/off button the ion particles (Ionic technology which shoot ions in to the hair to repair damage in the hair) and then you have the up and down button which controls the volume of ion admission. On the end of the handle there is also a small sliding bar which fixes the straighter in a closed position when not in use. The wire is also connect on with a 360degrees rotation connection which means which ever way you spend the straighter it will not tangle the wire. There is a large range of temperature which I found very helpful, I did not have this on my previous straighter. I tend to not use full heat when using this straightener because it is hot enough to straighten your hair in a lower heat which doesn't dry out the hair as much as when it is on full heat. It is slightly round shaped straighter so it's easy to use it to wave or curl your hair. I personally did not feel the ion particles made any difference to my hair. I have the BRAUM Satin Hair 7 ION TECH hair brush and every time I use the ion tech, I see my hair more shiny and it also feels softer. I did not get the same effect from this straighter. I also found it that after a while, the sliding bar at the end to close the straighter become's loose so when locked, the straighter is only in a semi-open position. Over all it's a great straighter. Very easy to maneuver as it's not so big. the straighter has very smooth edges so it's also easy to use to curl or wave your hair. I would recommend getting this as you get a very good product for a decent price.
I never thought I would buy hair straighteners that were not branded by GHD. However when my last pair broke, a month out of warranty I just could not afford the £120 that a new pair would set me back. I instead looked at other brands and my search for a new set of hair straighteners began. I found these Toni and Guy ones for £24.99 and thought they looked an absolute bargain: they looked really similar to my GHDs, they had ceramic plates and promised to hit the dizzy heights with temperatures up to 230 degrees. I was sold and bought a pair and from the first moment of trying them out I knew that I had made a good choice. Not only did I save myself nearly 100 pounds by buying a different brand but I think the straighteners are much better than my previous pair! ==Price and availability== The best price for the straighteners is £24.99 but the usual RRP is £59.99. They are currently for sale on amazon.co.uk with the low price but are stocked by John Lewis, Currys and Comet. ==Description== The hair straighteners are black and easy to hold. They are nice and light with a long flex cord of 3 m for you to reach the plug. They have black ceramic plates and have a red LCD display that is clear and attractive which shows what heat setting you are using. I like being able to control the amount of heat I am subjecting my hair to so this is a good feature. Under the LCD display is a little control panel where you can decrease or increase the temperature. The hair straighteners take 30 seconds to heat up which is a lot longer than the 7 seconds that my GHDs took. Despite this, it is still not a long time to wait and just means that I have to switch them on before doing other things so that I can do something else while waiting for them to get hot. I always worry about leaving hot items such as these on in the house. This pair have a 60 minute shut off so if you do accidently leave them, they will shut down in 60 minutes to prevent any nasty accidents. The straighteners come with a 2 year guarantee so you are protected if anything goes wrong with them. ==My experiences== As a girl with naturally wavy hair, I need a reliable set of hot straighteners to iron out those kinks. These do the job, although you have to wait 30-40 seconds for them to reach the desired temperature, once they are hot they straighten hair in no time and they glide over curls leaving poker straight, soft lovable hair. If you do not wait till they are completely hot enough you will end up with frizzy wavy hair so it is worth waiting till they are ready. The plates meet close together ensuring that you have enough control over how much hair is straightened and it also makes it easier to do. As with anything new, they do take a while to get used to as they work slightly differently to my old pair, however after a few goes you will not even notice a difference! They are so easy to use and so quick at running over the hair that I cannot believe I have never bought Toni and Guy straighteners before. I love having the LCD display and the touch control pad, it is something that I have not experienced before. The plates are hot up to 230 degrees which is phenomenal temperatures! The straighteners are good at maintaining the hot temperatures to allow you to take all the time you need to complete the look. The handles do not get hot and are a perfect length to allow you easier access to the harder to reach hair at the back of your head. My only negative point to the straighteners is that the plates are a little thinner than I am used to and at first I found that I was using too much pressure and adding kinks where there was not supposed to be kinks. Like I said above, once you get used to them however you will soon get used to the changes. ==Overall== A good set of reliable and hot hair straighteners.
