I don't have to straighten my hair that often, well I didn't - I figured that I had been blessed by some sort of straight hair fairy - but for the past couple of months I started taking notice and...yeah, long story short I've started using straighteners. I went through a few pairs, though I won't name them in case I offend someone or something, and they mostly turned out to be cheap and rubbish so when I finally got my hands on these, needless to say - I was more than pleased. In fact, funnily enough it was some great reviews that lead me to buying this Tresemme product.
The retail price for these straighteners is £60 but I got them for around £27 on Amazon due to a sale. The price seems to change more frequently than some other products I've seen in the past so keep an eye out and you may get them even cheaper. They are also available in a wide variety of other shops as far as I know for similar prices.
Upon unboxing these straighteners, I was instantly pleased with what I had received. Along with the straighteners themselves, there was also a heat proof mat but what I was happiest about was the surprisingly long length of the lead which definitely comes in handy. The straighteners are branded with the Tresemme logo, have a gold/beige ceramic plates and are also very sleek and stylish looking - which was also a big factor in me buying them. The plates are smooth and glide easily, and I've never really had any problems.
I always make sure that I don't leave them on a particular part of my hair for too long, mostly because I seen a horrific video of a girl burning off her own hair by accident. So yeah, keep them moving.
I bet you're wondering about heat? They go from zero to scorching practically instantly. It genuinely only takes them a max. 10 seconds to get hot which is very refreshing considering I have had straighteners in the past that have taken up to 5 minutes. There are 3 main settings controlled by an easy switch on the body of the straighteners - I being the highest, II being medium and III being the hottest. The highest temperature is 230 degrees and there is also a red light to let you know whether they are on or not.
Personally, I am unbelievably pleased with this product and for the price that they were I really can't fault them with anything major. My only issue is that you can sort of smell the heat but that's easily manageable as long as you don't use the straighteners for ages. I would highly recommend this product to anyone and I particularly think that it would be a great gift.
I had been looking around for a while to find a new pair of strainers and brought these after reading positive reviews on several sites. I am happy to say they really live up to all the hype and are still going strong even after a lot of use.
I don't really have frizzy hair but I do find that some strainers make my hair a bit greasy if I use them to much even with products. However, these are great and are perfect for my hair. But I have also had friends with curly hair use them and they have had great results - one friend even purchased her own pair and in my opinion there is no better review if someone buys them after using them a few times! Also they travel well as I take them to the gym quite often - so nice and light weight.
I was in need of a new pair of straighteners even though my old ones weren't broke and had lasted years I thought it was a good idea to shop for some new ones. I came across these and they are the best straighteners I have ever purchased and to be honest the cheapest, I did want a pair of GHD's but I just couldn't bring myself to pay that amount for them as a few of my friends have had problems with theirs not working. The description of the straighter - The TRESemme Ceramic Styler 230 delivers fast styling with a salon temperature of 230ºC and is ready to use in just 15 seconds. With 3 heat settings for total control for a smooth, sleek finish. Includes a heat proof mat for protecting surfaces whilst styling. I always read reviews before buying an electrical product and Id heard great things about these so I thought why not and I bought them. When they arrived I just couldn't wait to give them a try.. within seconds of plugging them in they went really hot - I section my hair first and I was so surprised at how good these really were it only took 2 strokes of each hair piece and it was completely straight, they are nice to hold and manageable. I would recommend you put these on a heat mat though as they can get extremely hot. Overall the item is great defiantly recommended and if you are looking for some new straighteners look no further than these they are must!
I have always used GHD's but I've recently had a number of problems with them and have been through two pairs in two years. Not ideal considering the price of them, however in my opinion GHD's are the best on the market for straightening hair.
Recently when my second pair broke I was looking at a new set in Tesco's. They had these on offer for around £25.00 and thought they would do until I could afford to buy some new GHD's. I have used them for about two weeks now and have been shocked at how good they actually are, especially when you consider the price paid.
They come with a handy little heat mat that are ideal for when you set them down during styling or for when you've finished. They are incredibly easy to use with three heat settings. Personally I just slide them to the hottest temperature (220 degrees) and the red light flashes to show there on. Literally 15 seconds later the red light has stopped flashing and they are ready to use.
I have medium length, normal hair that can be a bit frizzy but generally quite straight. These straighteners work quickly to smooth out the frizz and kinks and straighten my hair. It really does give you the same standard of finish as GHD's. I've not used these on very thick, curly hair so couldn't comment on the standard of finish for that hair type.
The plates are ceramic and smooth and do not rip or pull my hair at all. Something I have found with other cheaper alternatives. They also work well to curl your hair and have quite a long cord which is again handy when styling.
I have been pleasantly surprised by these straighteners and won't be buying GHD's again.
The tresemme hair straighteners really do work. They have a really short heating up time at about sixteen seconds, so when your in a rush in the morning, they're an ideal product to have . Really durable and too large, they can fit well in luggage or in a handbag, and work well on both damp and dry hair. Mine usually take a few goes over before my hair goes straight, but when it does, it generally stays straight all day, depending on your hair of course. They have a long plastic surface where you can rest your fingers whilst straightening, so as not to burn your finger's, which definitely makes the process better. As straightners go, these do the job quickly, easily and carefully, and are reasonably cheap wherever you buy them. A really reliable brand too, specialists in hair care, and really do do the job to a good standard.
~ Tresemme Salon Professional 2066U Hair Straighteners ~
I bought these hair straighteners at the beginning of last year. Prior to buying these I had been using some really cheap, rubbish ones so I couldn't believe how good these ones were when I got them and I immediately threw out my other ones!
They are sleek, easy to hold, heat up very quickly and look stylish, and I instantly loved them. The retail price for these straighteners is around £60, however I only paid £20 for mine as they were on offer in Asda. I was a bit dubious about whether they really were £60 at the full price or whether the price had been marked up to make them seem like a bargain but they really are great quality and you can tell that they are expensive ones when using them. £60 is actually quite a good price considering the quality and durability, though I am pleased i got them on offer else I probably would have just continued using my rubbish straighteners.
The straighteners are widely available from a range of shops and websites and they are currently £29.99 on Amazon which is a good price in my opinion. The straighteners came boxed with a heat mat included and a very brief instruction manual with basic info about the straighteners To be honest I didn't really bother with the instruction manual and I have found them simple and easy to use from day one. The heat mat was a good size and did the job and I liked that I could put the straighteners in it up to store them once I'd turned it off, but after about 6 months I left my straighteners on it for far too long as I got distracted, and they actually burnt it. It wasn't hugely damaged - just a few marks, but it looked scruffy so I binned it. Now whenever I use my straighteners I just keep them on my dressing table when they're on and keep an eye on them. My dressing table is wood and I've not had any trouble with the straighteners marking or burning it, though since the heat mat incident I am always extra careful!
The straighteners are black with the Tresemme logo on them and pale gold/beige coloured ceramic plates. The plates aren't that big but I use them at an angle so that the widest part of them is on the section of my hair I want to straighten so it doesn't take long to straighten my hair. The plates are smooth and glide over my hair, I've never had any problem with my hair getting caught or anything like that. The plates heat up as soon as I switch the straighteners on and after about five seconds they are boiling hot. They reach temperatures of 230 degrees and have three heat settings. Choosing the setting that I want is simple as there is a switch on the side of the straighteners. Next to the switch there is I (lowest heat setting) II (medium heat setting) and III (highest heat setting. The switch can also be put onto 0 which turns the straighteners off. Above the switch there is a red light which turns on when the straighteners are on. Thisis great because sometimes I worry I've left them on and I can just glance at them to see if the red light is on or not.
When I'm straightening my hair with these I have to hold each side of the straighteners and keep them closed, I'm certain that they used to have a lock option but for some reason I can't find it now that I'm reviewing them! I prefer to hold them closed though as I always worry that the lock button will get stuck and my hair will get burnt off! As these get so hot (I use them on the highest heat setting) I always make sure not to leave them in one place on my hair for too long, I keep them moving. When using the straighteners they immediately smoothen my hair out and tame any frizziness. After going over my hair once with straighteners it feels straighter, more manageable and smoother, but to get poker straight hair I need to spend more time going over it. This will vary from people to people though and different hair types. The straighteners feel good quality and they're made from quite a light plastic material which is light enough to comfortably hold for a couple of minutes while straightening my hair without feeling like my hand is being strained, but they are not so light that they feels flimsy.
The straighteners although they get really hot can still be held easily as most of the black part doesn't heat up, only the ceramic plates do. The black part above the ceramic plates does heat up but the part that I hold doesn't. Although I use the straighteners just for straightening my hair, they can also be used to create different styles like curls. The straighteners have got an auto shut off feature which is a great idea, however the time is pretty long at 72 minutes and I think if someone left them on for that amount of time they could potentially do some damage before they turned off automatically. The straighteners have got a three-pin plug which fits into all of the plug sockets in my house. The lead is really long which is great for when I'm standing up straightening my hair or sitting on my bed with them plugged into the wall near my dressing table and I don't feel restricted or like I have to sit in a certain place or position to use them. The lead is long but it doesn't take long to wrap it around the straighteners when it comes to storing the straighteners so the lead doesn't take up any extra storage space.
I have had the straighteners for over a year now and they still look great. There are no marks or scratches and they still work fine, they heat up quickly and straighten my hair quickly too. I am always pleased with how my hair looks after using them and I highly recommend these straighteners. One thing I have noticed which doesn't bother me but might bother some people is that as soon as they get hot I am able to smell the heat coming off them, it is just like the sort of smell I am able to smell when doing the ironing. It is not an unpleasant smell but it is very noticeable and when I first got them they only smelt like that when I'd had them switched on for five minutes or so. I am not going to knock a star off for this or anything though, it is just something that I noticed.
Five out of five stars.
Having naturally quite straight hair I don't have excessive use of straighteners and only find myself using them from time to time to straighten the ends out and also as I have quite thick hair it makes it feel lighter when straightened. I had managed to keep my previous straighteners going for about eight years until I cracked one of the plates. So I was after replacing them with something that wasn't too costly but seemed to be quite liked. During a search on the internet I came across some Tresemme salon professional ceramic styler hair straighteners not only did they have good reviews but they were priced nicely too! The recommended retail price is £60 but Amazon currently has them for sale at £27. I paid £30 for them so the price is changing all the time on them but they are great value for money.
The Tresemme straighteners arrived in a box which contained the straighteners themselves and a heat proof wrap to contain the straighteners. On first unpacking the product I was pleasantly surprised by the length of the lead you definitely get a decent size lead with these which I have found extremely useful in our house. The straighteners themselves looked great quality and felt sturdy in your hand. They look very sleek with the cream plates against the jet black outer. They feel smooth in your hand and are light weight too. I couldn't have been more impressed with first looks they look professional and something I would be very confident to give to someone else as a gift.
The straighteners can heat up to 230c on the highest setting but these straighteners come with three settings so you can reduce the heat if you feel the need too. The settings are controlled by a sliding switch on the side with a red light above it. The switch is positioned in the best place as you don't catch it whilst they are in use. The switch has a 0 setting which switches the straighteners off and then a 1, 2 and 3 setting 3 being the hottest. I tend to personally use the hottest setting as I like to have them red hot as I am often in a rush but having them so versatile is great especially if you are wanting to do more of a delicate hair style. The straighteners actually come with a guide leaflet which includes tips on how to use the straighteners to give your hair volume or curls. I have to admit to not trying this out as I am quite lazy when it comes to my hair I just don't have the time to be messing around with it! The ceramic plates are a decent size measuring an inch in width which even for my thickish hair is ok and I manage fine with them.
The straighteners are very quick to heat up unlike the old ones I had previously which would take a good minute to be hot. These are hot within a few seconds. They don't have a beeping noise when they are at the correct temperature but it does have a red light which while they are heating up it flashes and once they are at the correct temperature it stops flashing and stays just red.
As well as coming with a very useful heat proof wrap that you can sit your straighteners on whilst hot in use and also for keeping them in when out of use it also comes with a good safety feature. It has an auto shut down feature so after 72 minutes in use the straighteners automatically shut down. I always think these features are good things and show how technology has become so much safer. I have to say I am a little bit obsessed with making sure things are turned off so I haven't had to rely on this feature.
As for performance I can't fault these straighteners I find them a dream to use. My sister has new GHD's and has since tried out mine and can't believe how good they are for the price. I personally feel I have got a bargain and am glad I haven't splashed out on an expensive set of GHD's. These have made straightening my hair an easy and leaves my hair with a smooth and straight finish. I have used GHD's a few times and have always found they leave my hair with a serious case of static especially at the back but these Tresemme straighteners have not done this. They reach the hottest temperature within seconds and are relatively quick to cool down once finished with great for a lazy person like me. I can't fault these straighteners at all especially for the price and would happily recommend them to anyone.
I was sent these Tresemme Salon Professional 2066U ceramic hair straighteners as a present by my aunt, who was alarmed by the prospect of my beauty regimen falling into disarray due to being packed off to a mental hospital. Prior to admission, I'd been saving for a pair of GHDs, whilst getting by with a pair of 1980s stylers of questionable electrical safety salvaged from a jumble sale. So I was overjoyed when I opened the Amazon box and pulled out these, in their sleek black oblong packaging. Not GHDs, I thought -- but the next best thing? I'd used GHDs at a friend's house, and I can truthfully say that I prefer these Tresemme straighteners to GHDs.
The straighteners come in a black cardboard box, with the name and a picture of them, along with a black heatproof cover. They have 1"-long ceramic plates that heat up to 230°C on the highest heat setting, roughly the same heat as GHDs. There are three heat settings, an advantage over the majority other straighteners on the market, so they would suit any hair type or condition.
The straighteners take about fifteen to twenty seconds to heat up. After that, it's up and away. To straighten hair, simply pull them down your hair for a smooth, straight look. You can also use the straighteners to create waves - flick them at periodic intervals while straightening - or curls - turn sharply at the end of the strand of hair. I've successfully used the straighteners to achieve all three styles -- they do every one with aplomb.
Like all straighteners, the hair has to be dry before use. It's potentially very dangerous to use straighteners on wet hair, so I seriously warn against it... not, I hope, that I have to so do! Electricity + water is never a good idea.
I find that the Tresemme 2066Us handle exceptionally well; they feel lighter in the hand than do GHDs, allowing for potentially better accuracy, and are still weighted enough to hold comfortably. They cause no smell of burning hair, unlike many cheaper straighteners, and give stunningly slick results.
For the fantastic price of £25 on Amazon, you get multi-purpose hair straighteners that perform as well as GHDs -- and, with multiple heat settings, might just be that bit more versatile. I don't like to be awfully fawning in my reviews, so I searched far and wide for flaws in this product, but can't seem to turf up any. I give the 2066Us a well-deserved five stars out of five.
