Revlon Velvet Touch Paddle Brush
by xxfoxyredxx
When it comes to combs and brushes I am very much a Denman fan. I own loads of the products from that range and never actually really dabble with anything else, until a mate bought me this brush for my birthday. A quick look on Amazon.co.uk tells me that if I'd of purchased this it would cost me around the £5.85 mark so I did think for ... that price it would be good quality and was worth trying out.
The Brush Itself:
Well it comes with a slimmish black rubberised handle that is a nice width to hald and it has a hanging hole to the base of it should you want to hang it up for any reason. The head of the brush is silver plastic and rather large and wide with lots of black bristles tightly packed into it on a black cushion idea that is flexible and moves well when in use and the whole brush looks very nice quality and feels it too.
I use this for styling my hair in the main. It glides through my hair well, never loses any bristles or anything adverse at all though I do find this not so great to use to straighten my hair with as there are no holes to allow air through if using it with a hairdryer and I feel that my hair gets a bit too hot.
All in all this is a nice enough hair brush to be fair to it. It looks nice enough, is big and is very light in use however when reaching for a brush in my bathroom I do always seem to reach for my trusted Denman brush so I am still not entirely sold on this one I'm afraid but its worth the money to be fair to it!
Google if interested as I haven't seen this on the high street! Read the complete review |

Revlon Velvet Touch Paddle Brush

~A useful paddle brush from Revlon~
****************************
I have used a good number of hair brushes over the years including a Revlon branded 'Velvet Touch' paddle brush, which I have found to be rather useful. Not only is the paddle brush I have a good size for brushing through and working with freshly washed and ... dried hair when styling and finishing, I find that it also works well when used to de-tangle wet hair as and when needed, without tearing or pulling out longer hair.
If I compare the Velvet Touch brush to others I have used in the past and have in use at the moment, I feel that it compares rather well. I find the size of the brush makes it easy to handle and work with and I like the non slip style soft touch handle that has been used on the brush. The handle is easy to grip when using the brush to style, blow dry or simply brush through my hair and the brush head runs smoothly without pulling out stray hairs as it goes.
The brush head is fitted with a good number of bristles that are packed together in an easy to work with pattern that is just about right for styling and blow drying. I find that the cushioned base of the brush head has just enough flexibility so as to ensure that my hair runs smoothly through the bristles without catching at all. This brush is so easy to work with that I would say it could just as easily be used to brush through much longer hair styles, without pulling out the hair. I feel that this brush could be a fair choice for use when styling childrens hair as well as adults hair as it works well.
The brush is very durable and I haven't had any issues of note since having purchased it. The simple and understated colours used do not look overly bright and brash and the simple black and silver effect works well in my opinion. The materials used to make up the brush handle, body and bristles are still in good shape and function just as well as when the brush was new.
To help maintain the brush I always clean it lightly after use by removing any stray hairs that may have collected and I find that a rinse with warm water and a little shampoo every now and then helps prevent build up from styling products. After having rinsed the brush thoroughly it can be left to dry naturally on a clean towel, or placed in an airing cupboard for a short while so that the warm air can dry it through completely.
~Price/ rating~
***********
The cost of one of these Revlon Velvet Touch paddle brushes can vary depending on where they are bought, although they tend to be on sale for no more than £5, which I feel is fair value for money. Having used this brush for styling, combing through, blow drying and detangling I feel that it works well. The brush can also be used to add body and shine to hair when using alongside a hairdryer. My rating for this product is 4 stars. Read the complete review |

Revlon Velvet Touch Paddle Brush
by northernlovely
I had been using a round barrel brush for a while to build volume at the root of my hair but the longer it got the more flyaway and limp it was starting to look. My hair always looks nice when I straighten it as it has a natural wave to it, but I didn't want to straighten it every day because of heat damage, and I didn't have the time. ...
My hairdresser suggested I try a wide paddle brush as this would allow me to dry my hair whilst keeping it soft and sleek. She said that I could still get the volume by moving the brush close to the root of my hair. So I thought I'd give it a go and I bought the Revlon Velvet Touch Paddle Brush from Morrisons for around £5, which I thought was a good price for a branded brush.
The brush has a black rubber handle with hanging hole which is ribbed for grip. The head of the brush is silver grey plastic with a black soft pad and black plastic brush section.
It's very comfortable to use thanks to the soft pad and the brush prongs have little bobbles on the end so it doesn't scratch your scalp. It's very easy to get the brush through wet hair no matter how long, and you can get a good 3 inches wide section of hair in it. This means you can dry fairly quickly, but still keep the control of the style meaning you get a soft straightened effect without having to use the straighteners. You can indeed get volume at the root by sectioning off the hair and moving the head of the brush right to the scalp vertically and giving it a blast of warm then cold air.
Overall I'm so glad I bought the Revlon Velvet Touch Paddle Brush, it really gives good results, I've had many compliments on how much shinier my hair looks now I'm using it, and it feels so nice too, soft and sleek and it sits on my shoulders much better too. My hair is doing so much better for not being over worked and I can now go longer between salon visits, which makes the brush worth every penny of its five pound odd price tag!
It's available in most supermarkets and chemists and online, it's a really popular brush and I can see why, I am going to award it five stars out of five because it's an essential brush for all, especially so if you have longer than shoulder length hair. A styling staple. Read the complete review |
