Advantages: great curl, curl hold is great, Cons:burns hair if used excessively
Disadvantages: way to high heat settings, excessive hair damage
This hair curling technology does not have a clamp to hold hair. That is because you are meant to wrap your hair around the wand and just hold it there and then let it go. The curls the wand acheives are not bouncy curly or wavy but a wavy curl kind of look.
The wand itself is large close to the handle and narrows down the closer to the end you get. It is almost in the shape of a cone. Because of the cone shape I would recommend leaving about an inch or half inch not curled around the wand at the bottom just so the curls are a little less cone shaped if that makes sense.
The heat settings on this wand are:
310 degrees F
330 degrees F
360 degrees F
400 degrees F
I have tried each of these heat settings and from my test I have discovered that the heat setting of 330 works best for fine/normal hair.
The only down side of this product is that the heat settings are very high. Even the lowest one burns my hair and breaks the ends. So I avoid using this wand all the time. It is definitely more of a special occassion curling iron.
Summary: I love this wand for special occasions. Not for daily use.
