      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Worth the effort for special occasions!

      I bought this curling tong in preparation for the wedding season. I wanted a device that could help me get my hair ready quickly, but photo ready.
      The Babyliss Glamour Waves curling tong has several heat settings, and heats up quickly. In all honesty, I've never used the lower heat settings. I've found that the highest setting needs to be used to hold the shape. It is also necessary to not take too large a section of hair, in order to get a decent shape, and as a result, completing a full head of hair can take a while (but it's worth it!).
      Initially, the hair is quite curly, but not long after, these drop out, but the hair is left with a wave, and lots of body. If you want curls in your hair, this is not the device for you (you need a device with a smaller barrel). However, I really like the look of my hair after using the tong. It looks 'done' but not perfect, which I really like. I've also found that the wave that is created lasts until the next day.
      The only thing that I think is lacking is that a heat proof mat is not provided. Other than that, I have recommended this styler to friends.

        A great product for volume

        I bought these after a lot of research, as I am ever on the lookout for the perfect hair curler. I love my babyliss waving wand, but was after something for more loose waves, for a more beachy look.
        I'm a big fan of babyliss products and these are a nice, fat curling tong with a whopping 38mm barrel. They have four heat settings and I always use the hottest setting, 200 degrees, for my thick long hair (which is usually straight, and to be fair, I find it difficult to curl with most appliances).
        Although I was initially disappointed with the results, because they really dont curl my hair, I've grown to love them for the body they give my hair. They don't give me curls, or even particularly big waves. Perhaps they would if I used smaller sections of hair, I've also read other reviews that suggest pinning the curl to let it cool before dropping it. However, they give my hair loads of volume and body, like I've had a blow dry. A 'Kate Middleton' look, if you will. It lasts for days, or until I wash my hair again, so although it takes around 10-15 minutes to do after a hair wash, it stays put, especially with a little hairspray.
        You simply wrap the length of the hair, from the ends upwards, and clamp in place for 10 seconds. I would recommend using a heat protective spray first, as I can't imagine the heat is that good for your hair but if you are only using heat appliances occasionally I don't think they do too much damage.
        This isn't the product for you if you want big loose waves, at least they didn't give them to me. I'm still on the lookout for that elusive product! But if you want to give body to straight or flat hair, these are for you.
        And in the meantime, if anyone knows how to get that Meredith Grey look, let me know.....(not that I'm hair obsessed!)

        Thanks for Reading :)

        I purchased these Babyliss curlers a year ago after reading a couple of high rated reviews and after testing these out at my friends house during a girly sleep over. I do already own a few curlers but decided I wanted a new one that had a wider tong and that could produce lasting good quality curls.

        ======
        PRICE
        ======

        I purchased the Babyliss Curlers from eBay for £12, which was a great bargain in my opinion as it usually retails for around £19 plus. These Babyliss Curlers are available to buy from many retailers, some of which are listed below:

        Amazon: £19.41

        Argos: £19.99

        Boots: £20

        Curry's: £19.99

        eBay: £16.99

        Chemistdirect: £18.42

        Even though I did manage to purchase mine for only £12 I would say that I would be happy to pay up to £20 for these Babyliss Curlers as they worked wonders on my long hair.

        =======
        DESIGN
        =======

        The handle is coloured in a glossy black finish and is made from strong plastic material. The wire for the curlers is a good long and looks like most wire leads that connects to a plug. The barrel is a good long length and is made from titanium & ceramic material and is around 38mm in size. The main body of the curlers has a nice glossy gold finish which make it look more expensive than it is and give it a nice stylish design. The curler has two main buttons, one power button and one temperature controlling button. The temperature is displayed above the buttons.

        ===============
        PUT TO THE TEST
        ==== ===========

        The first thing to do is plug these in into the mains and switch the power button. It is a lot like using any other curler really, just have to wait until it has heated and then your ready to go. I was happy with the amount of time it took for the barrel to heat up, as it only took a minutes tops and then I was ready to make curls. Once the curlers were heated I would wrap some of my hair layers around the barrel and hold them in for a minute before releasing, which I would continue to do until all desired layers were curled.

        There are a few heat settings to choose from, I usually choose the highest temperature as it hastens the process which is especially useful when in a rush! I found that the hair would easily wrap around the barrel without it sliding off which is mainly due the titanium ceramic material plated barrels, and made the process so much easier and more effective.

        The results were great, the curler made my desired strands nice and curly and had a good amount of wave and bounce to them to make them look sleek and stylish. The curling took in total about 15 minutes for long length hair, which is pretty quick to my standards as my other curlers would take longer to heat up and take multiple attempts before the desired effect. I had a number of people compliment me on my curls which is a bonus! Its is worth mentioning that the curls do last a good few hours but only if you add some hairspray after curling, it makes them stay in place for longer while adding the natural bouncy look and volume.

        ============
        CONCLUSION
        ============

        Overall these are great quality curlers that help produce healthy looking curls. It is very easy to use and produces great results in minutes. So would I recommend this product, in one word Yes!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Great for thinner hair but has little effect on longer thicker hair.

        When I bought these curlers I had been searching for ages for the largest barrel possible. At 38mm diameter these curlers were the largest and had some fairly good reviews on various websites so I grabbed a pair.

        You can adjust the heat settings which is great for creating different effects and the large clamp means holding hair in place to curl it is very easy. They have a lovely look - the gold is very stylish and the display to adjust the temperature looks very high tech. They do take a while to heat up but I guess you can argue that is because of there size, but I am also not sure how evenly distributed and consistent the heat is. I think this may be why they didn't work on my hair very well. With long, thick hair I had to keep my hair round the barrel for at least 30 seconds for them to have any effect and the curls very quickly dropped, looking limp and lifeless. After several tries I was fed up, so gave them to my sister. With thinner, lighter hair they worked brilliantly for her! They gave her larger, bouncy curls that stayed in all evening.

        Very sad they didn't work for me - don't get if you have thicker hair.

        disappointed with this product

        I brought this product last year for around £25 in the hope that my naturally curly hair could be styled with lovely barrel curls, boy was I wrong!. I did previously read some reviews and they were generaly ok, so I thought why not buy it and give them a try. I didn't try them out until about a week after I bought them and I wish I never did to be honest. I let them heat up for a while and started with my hair, at first everything was fine until I started smelling this awful plastic smell. This product just smelt so wrong, differently not your usual hair burning smell. I gave up finishing my hair and spent then next few hours washing my hair to get the smell out. I gave it another go a few weeks later after washing it slightly (as not to break it) and got simular results. It's up to you if you want to give them a go, but I ended up getting rid of my one. I don't know whether my product was faulty tho.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Great product that produces effective, long lasting curls.

          I was bought these curlers as a Christmas present after spending years looking for something that will give me a perfect curl - lots of volume and natural looking. These are brilliant! I have naturally wavy hair that frizzes if not styled. I can roughly blow dry my hair and then use these stylers to achieve a sleek curl without the need for straightening beforehand or applying lots of products. Because the barrel is larger than the average curler it creates a nice shape with lots of volume. However, i think the barrel size will make it harder to use on hair that is above shoulder length.

          It did take me a couple of attempts to perfect the styling and discover how best to angle the styler and twist my hair round the barrel. Believe it or not the direction of the styler can affect the curl that is produced. However, i'm now well away and can produce a style that looks great, lasts all day and has even survived the wind swept look!

          The product allows the temperature to be varied which is great for handling different hair types. I think i have relatively normal hair and find that i need one of the higher settings to get a good curl. This means the barrel gets really hot and i have caught my head a few times. The barrel leaver that releases the hair grip section is metal and also gets extremely hot which has also caught me out a few times. The styler comes with a small stand to avoid burning your surfaces but because the styler can get so hot i would recommend a heat mat to be on the safe side.

          All in all a very good product, just what i was looking for and i've received loads of compliments when i've gone for the curly va va voom effect.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            A lovely pair of curlers for creating a wavy look.

            I bought these with one of my recent dooyoo redemptions after seeing a video tutorial for them. I own a pair of hair curlers that has a few different tongs you can take off and attach. This allows me to achieve a number of looks, but there isn't a tong wide enough to create a lovely subtle wave in my hair. I have looked for a wide barrelled curler for a number of years and never found anything good so these seemed like the perfect solution.

            I paid £13.94 for these, including p+p (amazon prime), which seems ridiculously cheap for a pair of curlers. Most you can get nowadays for around £20-£30 but under £15 seems like an exceptionally good deal. Also, because they were next day delivery I knew roughly when they would arrive and that it would be prompt. This was great as I anticipated the delivery and made sure someone was in to get them.

            The curlers comprise of a body and handle made from a glossy black plastic. The body of the curler is made from a shiny light gold coloured metal. There is a flexible plastic coated wire which runs from the curlers to a standard UK plug which you then obviously plug in to your closest socket. The tip of the curler is finished off with a domed plastic topper which has raised lines in it. There are also two buttons, an on switch and a button split for raising and lowering the temperature, above these there is a dial which shows you the temperature of the curler.

            The overall look of them is very good. The barrel is pretty wide, I can just about touch my index finger to the tip of my thumb if I wrap my fingers round it (obviously make sure it switched off before you attempt this!). The design is very functional but it also looks nice. I was pretty impressed when I opened the box because they aren't at all cheap looking considering the price I paid.

            Though you can use this to achieve a normal curl it is pretty much designed for making waves. There is a tutorial video on amazon that is worth checking out but basically you take sections of hair, clip them into the curler using the handle and then twist up towards your head. You loosen them to release the hair and what you end up with are very subtle waves. My hair is just below my shoulders and still a little too short to achieve the optimum look with these curlers, though it does definitely add volume to my hair which is always great.

            They heat up within around 5 minutes and are extremely hot! I opted for the hottest option because I know my hair doesn't hold curls well otherwise, I did find it burnt my hand a couple of times. Obviously if you are more careful this won't happen, and I am especially clumsy, though it is important to be aware of how hot it can be.

            I found the waves lasted about half the day, though I didn't use any products or hair spray which might have helped to keep them a little longer. The effect achieved was nice so I was happy with this, and even though they dropped my hair still looked voluminous and nice.

            Considering I only paid £14.00 for them, and that this was essentially free anyway because I'd earned the miles, this seems like a pretty great deal to me. They aren't as good as my regular curler but they do achieve a different look which is nice for a one off.

            Overall, a great pair of bargain curlers.

              Best for creating volume but not for curling

              I was bought this babyliss hair styler for mothers day as I've wanted a big curling Tongue for a while now. I have quite fine hair and I wanted to try and create a big curl effect with plenty of volume.

              At first I found these really difficult to get the hang of, I'm so used to curling my hair with Straightners now and seeing instant curls. I found that even with having fine hair I had to use the tongues on the highest heat an keep it in place for at least 5 seconds to see any sort of curl, it was exactly the effect I wanted. However I found that after an hour or so all the curls had dropped out I would probably just be left with a few flicks at the end of my hair. My hair would still look like it had quite a lot of volume in it but it definitely wasn't the orginal look I'd had in the beginning.

              I think that this product is best used for creating volume and maybe a little curl/flick at the end of your hair, a sort of Holly willoughby style but definitely not if you want full on curls.

              I bought these quite a while ago now for around £22, you can buy these cheaper now and I found a pair on Amazon for £15.99 with free postage and packing.

              The curlers are pretty large in size with a large 38mm barrel, which is larger to give the bigger curls and waves rather than the smaller curls. The lead for the curlers is pretty long and can stretch far enough to be able to get to a plug and your closest mirror without any problems.

              To use this is really pretty easy, just plug it in, set it to the temperature you want, this has 4 different settings with the highest been 200oC. This is change by a plus and minus button on the handle, I usually just have it on the highest with me having quite thick hair, but for thinner hair you may want to set it to a lower temperature. When you use this you do need to have dry hair, so if you have just washed your hair you need to make sure that you have dried it all the way through properly. When you switch the curlers on you do need to leave them about 2 minutes to warm up to the right temperature. Then give your hair a good brush through, as once you have curled your air you can not brush it as it will just brush the curls out. To curl your hair grab a small section of your hair, the amount of it does depend on how many waves you want in. With the barrel been quite big you can chose to put quite big waves in as well as small waves in. However I find with even bigger waves they tend to fall out even quicker. Once you put your hair through the tong and wrap it round, leave it for around a minute, then release your hair and you will have a nice wave though that section of hair. Then do this for the rest of your hair. I do find I struggle towards the back though as it is a lot harder, and my waves never look as good at the back.
              I have found when I have used this it does seem to condition my hair, and it does look quite shiney when I have finished. The only problem I find with this is that after around an hour the waves seem to drop out, which is not good when you are on a night out. The only way I could stop this was putting quite a lot of hair spray on my hair, which does tend to make my hair feel hard and very hard to brush the next day.

              This is a good curler to use if you just want waves in, as it does not send your hair proper wavey and it does work on all hair types, I have come across better curlers since I had these, but they are good value for money and also come with a 3 year guarantee so you know they are not going to break easily. Like I said the only downside I can say to these is that the waves soon fall out, but I suppose that happens with most curlers anyway. I would recommend these to buy if you just want waves and not curls in your hair as they do a good job and are really easy to use.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

                Well made and affordable

                Having long hair might be a bit of hassle when it comes to washing and drying however it does mean that I can wear it in a whole range of styles and when I want to add some curls I reach for these great curling tongs from Babyliss which are nicely priced at £18.99 when I bought them, I was rather annoyed to see them at £14.99 a couple of weeks later but there is not much I could do about that. One thing I would point out right from the start is that these are probably best for long hair, I'm not so sure how they would be for longer hair as the barrel is quite large and so shorter hair may struggle to get around them, what the larger barrel does mean though is the fact that this is great for loose hanging curls which is a look that suits me.

                They heat up pretty quickly, there is not much waiting around with these babies and there are 4 different heat settings to choose from. I tend to opt for one of the middle settings as that seems to work best for me. Made from a titanium ceramic that are comfortable to use and not too heavy either, I have had no problems with my hair snagging and the heat is very even and consistent along the whole length of the curling tong.

                I like the look after using these, the curls and long and quite loose so they hang down with a natural look, they also give a nice effect if you then wear your hair up and just have a few curls hanging down to frame my face, a more classic look and one that is easy to manage with these. All you need is a little spray to set the curls.

                These are well made and affordable and as such I would certainly recommend them but only really for those with long hair, I'm not sure they would be comfortable to use for shorter hair.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

                a great pair of curling tongs

                I decided to buy myself these Babyliss curlers just before Christmas because I wanted them for party season over Christmas-New Years to style my hair with nice loose curls. I opted for these curlers as the heated barrel on them is quite large, which means my curls would be really loose and more natural looking.

                How to Use
                These styling tongs are used much the same as any other tongs I have used in the past. You simply turn them on, wait for them to heat up, then when they are ready to use take sections of your hair and wrap them around them, hold the for a minute and then release. This should give you really nice loose curls.
                I don't like to put any product in my hair before curling, though after wards I like to just spray over my curls with hair spray to keep the curls in place but not make it too sticky.

                Heat settings
                The thing I love about these styling tongs is that it doesn't take them absolutely ages to heat up, they are ready to use in just under a minute.
                There are 4 different heat settings on these styling tongs, they are, 155oC, 170oC, 185oC and 200oC.
                I usually like to turn up the heat to 200oC so then I can curl my hair quicker, though it is nice that I can opt to curl it at a lower heat level if I want to.

                The Tongs
                These tongs have a large barrel that is used to create big, loose curls that make your hair look lovely and wavy and give a more subtle look than smaller, tighter curls. The barrel is made titanium-ceramic, which means that the hair doesn't snag as much due to their smooth surface.

                I found using these tongs quite easy, though they are a little fidgety at first, I quickly got used to them.

                These tongs seem quite sturdy and are great quality compared to some other tongs I have bought in the past.

                Results
                I love the curls that these tongs create, they are lovely and loose and look quite natural and pretty, perfect for a night out or also I like to wear them during the day when I want to feel a little dressed up and nice.

                Like many curling tongs, the curls created won't stay in your hair unless you keep some product like hair mouse or hair spray to keep the curls from falling out of place.

                Price and Availability
                These curling tongs are available to buy in quite a lot of shops and also online, I bought mine in Currys for around £16, though I am sure if you shopped around online you could get them a little cheaper. I am quite pleased with the quality and performance of these tongs and think that they are definitely worth the money that I spent on them.

                Overall
                Overall I am pleased with my curling tongs, they give lovely effortless curls and are pretty easy to create, whenever you get the hang of it. I would recommend these curlers to anyone who would like the loose curls, but it might be worth noting that these curlers may only really be suitable for people with longer hair, because the barrel is quite large and it could be difficult to wrap shorter hair around them. Overall I would give these tongs 5 out of 5 stars

                4 stars

                Having fairly long hair and being bored off the permanent GHD'd look that I seem to have been sporting for the last decade I decided I needed some curls! My hair is naturally wavy but that's about the extent of it - wavy - not luscious bouncy curls, just kinks really! My in-laws always struggle with ideas for my birthday so I opted for asking for some curling tongs as I knew they were reasonably priced and didn't feel too cheeky asking for them. I had meant curling tongs, however I had to hide my disappointment when I opened the present and I had received some Babyliss curlers! I sound very ungrateful, but I thought I knew exactly what it was I was opening and when it was something different I was surprised!

                When I first started to use the curlers, I was so glad I had been bought them instead of the tongs. I had only used tongs once but the curls it produced were much tighter than the ones from the curlers. The barrel of the curlers is 38mm and made of titanium-ceramic which means it gives lovely big and bouncy curls, perfect for a naturally curly look for long hair. I'm not sure how well they would work for mid length or short hair but for mine which is past my shoulders, they are perfect.

                The cable for the curlers is really long which is an added bonus for me, as my mirror (which is wall mounted) is quite far away from the nearest socket and I hate it when electrical items such as hair dryers etc have a short cable. In fact they are so long, they almost feel like they have come straight out of a salon (but for the price they obviously haven't!).

                The curlers work much like hair straighteners, in that you switch them on and they heat up, however the thing I liked with these is the option to change the heat setting - something which you don't have the option to do with my GHD's, which I find frustrating sometimes when I don't think they need to be quite as hot. The highest setting is 200°C and the lowest is 50°C and is changed up or down by buttons on the handle. They take quite a while to heat up - probably around 1 minute. I find the temperature changing option quite useful as I have really thick hair but when my friend came round recently to get ready for a night out, she asked if I would curl her hair for her. She has really thin hair (! The total opposite to mine) and didn't need such a high heat setting which would just ruin her hair.

                One thing to note with these curlers is hair must be totally dry throughout. I once made the mistake of having a quick shower, drying my hair with the hairdryer and not checking it all the way through. My hair fizzed against the heat and then just looked greasy and limp for the rest of the evening - not a good look!

                As with most curling tongs that I have used, the curls don't seem to last all that long so I would say if you are going to invest in some of these curling tongs, you buy some decent hairspray at the same time! I have found that the Garnier Bamboo hold works well with curls as they hold their strength but don't go rock hard and have fluidity with movement. When using the curlers, I use clips to separate my hair into sections and then curl each section of my hair after giving it a really good brush. You have to make sure that you are getting the amount of hair right, etc as once you've curled it you can't brush it again and this will obviously brush out the curl and just make it wavy. You only need to hold the curlers in place for 10 - 15 seconds to give it the best result, and I always use a heat protection spray before using curlers (and straighteners for that matter).

                You can choose whether you want tight colours, looser curls or wavy hair with these curlers and I always opt for looser curls as my hair is just too thick to pull off tighter ones. To do this you tilt the curlers to one side rather than holding them straight. The barrel is made from Nano-titanium ceramic which makes your hair shiny and frizz free.

                You can pick these up for anywhere between £15 and £20 and they come with a three year guarantee. For the low price, they are excellent value and although there are better curlers out there, they are also much more expensive. These are good value for the occasional user.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

                  salon professional curling tongs

                  Design and Material

                  The design on this is very typical and what you would expect to see from curling tongs. This looks the type of quality you would get in a salon, with a black handle with a digital screen the handle itself feels like it's made of plastic but I'm not sure if it is or not. The screen shows you the temperature that you currently have the tongs on, you change and turn this on by pressing the button next to it. The barrels them self are silver and 38mm made of titanium-ceramic, with the barrels being so big it means you can create both glamour curly hair or soft wavy curls. The wire on this is really long, not what you'd expect for a product you use at home, this allows you to move around without having to put these hot tongs on something such as your floor or shelf, my mirror is on my wall so the long wire allows me to stand up with ease rather than sit on the floor and do it.

                  Using and results of the BaByliss 2289U

                  Before you even turn these on you need to make sure your hair is ready, you need to make sure you hair is completely dry and combed, I've found for best results after drying your hair, don't do your hair straight away because it doesn't always look as good as when you've let your hair settle for a bit. Also if you are doing all of your hair then it's best to separate it in layers like you would if you was straightening it.
                  It's always best to use a heat protecting spray, it makes no difference to the results but we all put our hair through hell so it's best to try and protect it, turning your tongs on there are 4 different heat settings which are 50, 100, 150 and 200C. The more hotter settings are for thick hair, I have thin short hair but I wear hair extensions, I put the extensions in before beginning to curl my hair, I have this on 150C because I don't think it's necessary to have it the hottest.

                  Starting off depending how you want your curls to look depends how much hair you use for each curl, I don't use much as I like to have lots of little curls so I use roughly 2-3 cm of hair for each curl, you put the top of your hair in the scissor clasp of the tong and slowly move down to the ends of your hair and then proceed to rolling it up your hair until you think it's high enough for your style, I do this about 3/4 of the way and some times just do half my hair, keep this there for around 15 seconds and release the clasp and the hair will loosely fall out in a curl then proceed to doing the rest of your hair.

                  When you first start using this it is difficult and a little bit fiddly, when I first used this I didn't realize there was a rubber part on the other end to hold and you firmly curl your hair, after doing your hair a couple of times this begins easier and you start to learn how to do new and different type of curls.

                  Different hair styles with the BaByliss 2289U

                  This is used best to do large barrel curls like the "celebrity style" Personally I hate that type of curl and it looks stupid especially if people don't do it right to the top of hair hair. There are several types of curls beside the barrel curl, you can make waves and loose curls by simply holding the tongs differently, instead of having this normal and straight on your hair, tilt it so it's on a slight angle and then do your curls, this will give you small nice loose curls, if you tilt it on it's side a lot this will give you curly waves. You can straighten you hair with these are well but I have GHD's for that and will only use them for straightening my hair.

                  Conclusions, Price and Availability

                  Overall this is a good pair of hair curling tongs, they look professional and they heat up within just 30 seconds so you're not waiting ages to curt your hair, they are fiddly at first but soon you'll be racing through it, with my hair extensions in to do my full head it used to make me around an hour it now takes me just 20 minutes or so. You can buy these from Amazon they used to be £20 but have now been reduced to £15.99.

                    Advantages

                    Disadvantages

                    these are OK if your willing to put in the time

                    I have very long and very thick hair. I am always looking for styles which are easy to complete but yet still look great. Having always curled my hair with a small barrelled curling tong for nights out I decided to look for a larger barrelled set for a different look....step forward the Babyliss 2289U.

                    *+*+* WHAT MADE ME CHOOSE THIS PRODUCT *+*+*

                    If I'm honest I had heard mixed reports on a variety of different curling tongs and decided to look around for a cheaper pair that if they didn't work I wouldn't be so upset. While scouring the internet I found these on Amazon for around £15 which to me seemed like a good price from a company brand I had had good results with in the past. My babyliss crimpers are still going strong even if they now only show their face for fancy dress.

                    *+*+* THE PRODUCT *+*+*

                    Babyliss 2289U are 38mm nano titanium-ceramic barrelled tongs which boast 4 different heat settings up to 200 centigrade which allow these to be versatile for any hair types. The cord is attached via a swivel connection, much like salon equipment and the heat up time is extremely quick and they have built in heat rest.
                    The look of the tongs is quite stylish with the black handle and digital screen and the length of the cord is longer than most of my hair appliances so I have the added bonus of being able to move...which is always pleasant.

                    *+*+* USE *+*+*

                    So here is my simple guide to using these tongs.
                    * Turn them on
                    * Select the temperature setting you feel is best for your hair type using the +/- button (the light will move up the temperature gauge) normally the thicker your hair the higher the temperature needed.
                    * Allow the tongs to heat ...I've found this takes around the one minute mark I suppose less time for lower heats.
                    * Make sure hair is dry and combed with not tangles.
                    * Always make sure you are using a heat protection spray or serum.
                    * Section off a piece of hair (just under and inch wide is perfect for me)
                    * Grip the hair using the scissor clasp and then glide them down the hair to the tip of the hair.
                    * Roll the tongs up the hair to your desire height you can steady them with the other hand holding the plastic tip of the tongs.
                    * Hold the tongs steady for 10 - 15 seconds
                    * Release the clasp and allow the curl to slip off the barrel
                    * Allow the curl to cool before further tweaking.

                    *+*+* MY OPINION *+*+*

                    The eventual look gained with these is of large Hollywood curls almost large waves which look great. They have a natural bounce and seem to gain a little shine as well however there are some downsides. Due to the thickness and length of my hair I find these curls do not stay in as long as I would like without help. I find myself having to apply hairspray while the hair is wrapped around the tongs and then clip the curls while cooling. The best way to achieve this is to slide the curl straight on to an open section clip hair rip and then pin it to the head, a dash of hairspray while pinned also helps. This makes it a little more time consuming and fiddly. I have found the curls will stay in for a good few hours but not as long as my small barrelled tongs. I have found a major problem with these though and that is the position of the on/off switch on multiple occasions I have accidentally turned these off without noticing. These is even more annoying than having to clip the curls as the first few times I did it I didn't realise until I noticed the curls weren't holding, to solve this maybe a lock setting like we see on many other hair appliances today. I have tried these on a friend with slightly shorter and thinner hair and found that the curls stayed in better and longer however we did still clip them to allow then to cool. I also felt the heat stand was a too small. It is made of the same plastic of the handle and is ridged. I wonder if this would not be better if it was a flip out version and slightly bigger. I instead choose to just use a heat protection mat like I would with my straightners.

                    Would I recommend these? Yes and no, it really depends on your hair I think for hair that is of a medium length and not extremely thick these would be ok but they are too big for short hair and without clipping long hair just pulls the curl out. At the price they are which is still around £15 on Amazon these are worth trying you never know with a little practice you could end up with perfect red carpet Hollywood curls.
