Advantages: Does the job, well priced
Disadvantages: None really
I don't tend to be overly ambitious when it comes to my hair and tend to just straighten it on a daily basis and leave it at that. I am not great at styling my hair, but do like to do something a little different with my hair when going out so my hair looks a little different from the norm.
I decided to invest in a hair curler as I reckoned that it couldn't be difficult to use and a few curls in my hair would be just the look I would like on a night out as it would be something different, but not too difficult, time consuming or taxing to achieve a look like that.
As I was going a little into the unknown, I did a bit of research online and decided to opt for the Babyliss 2285U Curling Wand.
I purchased this from Argos for around the £25.00 mark. I chose this one simply because I liked the look of it and it looked relatively simple to use.
The wand has a good sized, easy to grip base with a metal barrel that tapers in towards the top end. The barrel has a ceramic coating to encourage shine on the hair and helps protect it from heat damage. The idea is you simple wrap hair around the wand, leave for a few seconds and then unwrap again and you end up with 'free flowing curls' - their words, not mine.
There are 5 different temperature settings, though I don't tend to play with these much, I just set it for a middle heat and I have left it at that ever since as it seemed to do the trick on my hair. The wand heats up rather quickly, in around 30 seconds or so and it does feel rather warm so the usual safety precautions need to be adhered to when using this product.
I have to say I was really impressed with this product. The wand is really good quality and has so far proven to be reliable and I have owned this product for a few months now. It gets hot enough, but doesn't feel too hot that it would cause damage to your hair.
I am such a novice when it comes to hair styling so a product really does have to be foolproof for me to get a good look from it, but even I can't go wrong with this. The instructions are really simple and the results are really effective.
I have quite thick, medium length hair and after following the instructions to a tee, I was really impressed with the look it gave me. I had some really nice curls in my hair. The curls weren't overly tight, but then that is the look I wanted so that suited me fine. I don't tend to leave the wand on my hair for long so if you did want tighter curls, you could leave the wand on longer but light wav curls are what I want and that is what I get. The soft curls give my hair a bit of volume too and so with this product I get a really nice look without having to spend a fortune, or a lot of time to get it.
Overall, I love my Babyliss Curling Hair Wand as it is easy to use, well priced and reliable. It is the perfect product if you want to achieve a look but aren't very good at hair styling like me and so this comes with a recommendation from me.
Summary: A decent curling wand from the Babyliss range
