I have exceptionally long, thick hair - almost down to my waist - and it is naturally at that annoying middle ground, not curly, but not poker straight either. So for me, straighteners have been a part of my life for many years! Up until now, I have gone through a vast series of cheaper straighteners - some better than others - but none able to provide me with that beautiful straight, sleek, shine I always get walking out of the hairdressers. Until now!

I finally decided to take the plunge and splash out on a pair of GHD gold straighteners a few months ago, after a recommendation from my hairdresser. Initially I was reluctant, due to the higher price tag associated with GHD products, but I thought if they were as good as everyone said, it would be worth the price. And boy, it really was. The straighteners themselves are slim and stylish, with an on/off slider button - they bleep when switched on and then again when they are at the right heat (which takes no time at all, super quick heat up!) The plates glide through my hair, and whereas with all other straighteners I would have to go through the same piece of hair maybe 5 or 6 times, with these GHDs it requires only 1 or 2 sweeps. This is excellent for saving time! The straighteners leave my hair super straight, super shiny, and SO much healthier looking - you just don't get the 'ragging' of hair that many of the cheaper products cause. The straighteners are very slim which makes them good if you need to take them travelling. I also purchased the GHD carry bag and heat protector mat which has been ideal - I can now style my hair sat on the bed without worrying that I'll burn the duvet cover! Although the straighteners do come with a cap that fits on the end of the product to help with protect surfaces from the heat when switched off and cooling down, and they also have a handy function where they will automatically switch off after a certain period of inactivity - no more worrying about whether you've left them plugged in or not!

I would recommend these straighteners to anyone wanting beautifully straight hair without the time, fuss, or damage to your hair that other products can cause. They are definitely worth the extra money - I will never use another brand again!
