A product that is like a portable, personal hairdresser

I have been through cheap and horrible hair straighteners throughout the years. I have had of GHD stylers but since they are so expensive and I haven't quite got the money to splash it on £100 a piece GHD straigheners, I wasn't quite sure what the hype was about. However, I managed to save up amazon vouchers from dooyoo and a bit of vouchers from other sites doing surveys, so I thought to give this GHD stylers a try. I have straight hair but I tend to sleep in weird positions and my hair suffers for it. So, unless I dare to go out in public in messy bed hair, I really need to straighten my hair to keep it tidy. The above GHD styler is retailed at around £100 on amazon, and you can either get it cheaper or more expensive depending on where you buy it from. The one shown in the picture is called from the classic range called the GHD V Gold Series Mark 5 Classic Styler. It comes with the hair straightener and a cap to keep the thongs in place. I bought the heat map together with the styler purchase for the ease of mind. The overall appearance of the straightener is sleek black finish with the gold/ yellow ceramic plates. It is quite pleasing to the eye. As for the performance, GHD does lives up to its brand name. As soon as you plugged it in and turn it on, there's a beep to notify the start of the heating process. The ceramic plates heat up to 230 degrees in about 10-20 seconds and it will give another beep once it has reached the max temperature, ready to be used. Given that my hair is straight naturally, I don't need to straighten it for too long. A few smooth down with the styler will keep my hair sleek and straight for more than one day until I wash my hair. The slide of the ceramic plates is very smooth and not snugging of hair at all. I do recommend using a heat protection spray if you use the styler regularly to keep the hair growing nice and healthy in the long run. Moreover, to my surprise, I did discover that you can use the ghd stylers to curl your hair. It is quite surprising since they mostly called these ghd straighteners rather than stylers. However, I did try curling my hair with this ghd several times and I can surely say that it works really well. Of course, youtube video tutorials help a lot. These straighteners come with 2 year warranty and each has a serial number that you can use to register the straighter on the official GHD websites. Also, this comes with an auto sleep mode if left unused for more than 30 minutes; I admit I never have to fall back on the sleep mode but it is very nice to know that there's an option. This product is also dual voltage at 110 V and 220 V, as well as being able to function at both 50 and 60 Hz. Overall, this is one of the best products I have ever purchased. I have had this for almost one year now and it is still working well. I'll have to see how long it lasts, and hopefully it will last long. Truly recommend this styler. Thank you for reading and reviewing. :) x

Brilliant straighteners, I wouldnt use any other make!

I had these for a Christmas present this year, even though my hair is straight it does tend to kink at the front and at the side, I had asked my other half if he would part with his well earned money for these ceramic plated straighteners as they were an absolute MUST have item. The straighteners came with a plastic cap that fits over the top of the unit to prevent it opening I presume and what seemed like a relatively long cord, the unit is a matt black with the gold coloued plates and they are the standard, not the wider ones. I plugged them in and there was a little bllep to indicate they were heating and a sgin on the handle saying GHD also lit up, they must have taken around 15 to 20 seconds to get to temperature and again, an indicative bleep let me know we were ready for action. The cord swivels on the base to allow for easy use and although you can feel the heat from the plates they are by no means uncomfortable, I did touch the plate by accident and after 2 minutes on the ceiling, i was able to continue my quest for straight hair! These get very very hot so please be careful when using. There was no drag on my hair as i pulled the plates along it and even when i sectioned smaller piecces of hair, they were still able to glide gracefully along. My hair was wonderfuly shiny, I did apply heat protection spray to ensure i didnt damage the shaft but I know not everyone will want to use it. I have tried to wave my hair with the GHDs but i cant get the hang of it so I bought a curling wand recently. The straighteners come with a mat to sit them on whilst you are using them and a bag to carry them in, they look very professional and sleek and dont weigh very much at all, I take them in my hand luggage when travelling. That brings me to another point, they are dual voltage and will automatically detect and work in the UK and USA despite the variance in voltage, this was brilliant when we went to Florida last year. I would highly recommend these straighteners to anyone who is thinking of purchasing some, they look great and do exactly as they should even if they are a little expensive.

Invest in ghd if you want the best results.

I am the proud owner of quite long, very thick, wavy hair so naturally my ghd straighteners were my best friend. For almost five years we were inseparable, until the arrival of my staffie pup this summer. My daughter borrowed them and left them on her bed where the naughty puppy bit clean through the cable. Luckily the straighteners were switched off and unplugged or things could have got very messy! Heartbroken, but unable to justify the expense of new ones at the time, I reluctantly purchased an emergency replacement of an inferior make, however, this proved to be a huge mistake and I begged my husband to buy me some new ghds for Christmas. Well, I must have been a very good girl indeed because Santa brought me the Limited Edition Sahara gift set, comprising beautiful sparkly gold straighteners and a quilted bag which rolls out into a heat resistant mat to rest them on while they are cooling down. The straighteners are as you would expect from ghd. Well made, stylish and effective, they even have flecks of gold set into the plates! Heating to 230 degrees in seconds, they emit a beep when they are ready to use. I have found these straighteners much lighter and easier to use than my previous ones and they have a really long cable so that I can use them anywhere in my bedroom without having to stretch to the mirror, which is very useful. They make light work of creating a sleek, shiny style or, with a bit of practise, spiral curls and flowing waves. I find that a spritz of heat protection spray on the ends of my hair keeps them from going frizzy and adds even more shine. The mat has a zipped compartment for storing products or styling tools and the mat is so useful as somewhere safe to put the irons so that they don't damage the surfaces of your dressing table or desk. This was a gift, so I'm not sure exactly how much they cost, but they retail at around £130 and if I get five years use from them I would consider them to be excellent value for money.
