      Advantages

      Disadvantages

perfect for hard to curl/ straight long hair

My hair is quite long, waist length and I have been looking around for a larger than normal sized curling tong so that my straight hair could fall into perfect Victoria Secret type waves and curls. I found this tong at Argos and immediately was attracted to Remington's 5 year guarantee, which screamed quality to me, not that I needed to be reminded as I already own their 'sleek and curl' straightener which is very good quality too.
When I opened them at home the first thing I saw was the size of it, I thought I had bought a too wide tong! But I tried and tested it right then and I immediately saw my hair transform into really gorgeous curls! They do weight a bit more than a regular curling tong, probably the same as a chunky straightener, but I didn't mind at all as the quality of the item is just great, really professional looking and very sturdy to, the type of thing you would expect to see in a salon.
They heat up very fast (under a 1.5 minutes for the max temperature) and they come with a heat proof pouch as well, which unfortunately isn't actually heat proof (only on the inside of it). However this is the only con I can think of and I happily keep this on my dressing table as it looks gorgeous!

Good to use on other people!

I'm so sick of 'straight' hair. I wanted to try something new. So I was thinking about buying a curling tong. I saw in the Argos catalogue these Remington Pearl wand, but I didn't want small tight curls so I decided against it even though I had read loads of great reviews about it. Then a few weeks ago when the new Argos catalogue came out and I was looking through it and I came across this product! Extremely similar to the wand only it had a bigger barrel for bigger curls. I couldn't find any reviews on it, because it was a brand new product so I took the risk and bought it.

Luckily I had £20 Argos vouchers waiting, so I requested them and they came a few days later. Then the next day I went to Argos. The curling tongs cost £24.99 so I only had to pay a fiver! Which was good.

I got into the car and I opened them because I wanted to see them straight away. They were in a box and in the box was loads of plastic packaging. Finally when I opened it all I saw the curling tongs. I was really pleased with them they looked great. They also came with a shiny pouch (heat resistant) thing, and a black glove which was right handed. I'm left handed. I put it all away and thought I'll give them a go when I have chance to. My hair is very thick and just over shoulder legnth.

A few days later I was bored so I thought I'd give them a try. I turned them on and turned them up to maximum heat which was 210'c. The display is digital. There are 3 buttons on it. 'On/Off', '+' and '-'. You have to hold the on/off button in a few seconds to turn it on and off. The '+' button turns the temperature up and the '-' button turns it down. And the '-' also locks the buttons if you hold it in for a few seconds. That way you wont accidently touch the buttons while your doing your hair. A 'lock' icon comes up on the display so you know when its on.

So once they had heated up which took just over a minute. I tried these out. I put some of my hair up in clips and then tried to curl some of my hair. Its really difficult because you catch your hand all the time on the tongs when your trying to do your own hair. So I put the glove on and tried it then. It is slightly better but then you can get your hair properly. So its a bit annoying. In the booklet that came with the tongs it says to hold you hair in place on the tongs for 10 seconds. Even with the glove on this is difficult because it isn't completely burn proof! I ended up giving up on my own hair.

That same week I took these round to my mums and did her hair. I found it much easier to do someone else's hair. She was really pleased with how it turned out. I didn't use hair spray and the curls stayed in all day. If only I had someone I trusted enough to do my hair then that would be great. Unfortunately I think these were a waste of money unless I learn how to use them.

Here are its features: Glove included, Ceramic coated, Digital settings, Variable temperature with 8 temperature settings, Maximum temperature 210°C, 30sec heat-up time, Stay cool tip, Barrel: 32mm, Worldwide voltage, 3m swivel cord, Automatic safety shut-off after 60 minutes, Heat-proof pouch, Heat ready indicator, Manufacturer's 5 year guarantee.

These are a great product but unfortunately I cant use them. So I would only buy them if you know you can manage doing your own hair.
