Before I start discussing the product that I am going to be reviewing today, I need to mention my hair! I am going to be reviewing my Remington CI56WO Styling wand and the reason for me making the purchase of this was because I have rather think and unruly hair, I have to spend quite a lot of time blow-drying and then using hair straighteners on it to get it looking straight and I also struggle with getting a decent looking curl as my hair soon starts to frizz. The look I wanted for my below the shoulder hair was where the ends were loosely curled and the top half of the hair was straight. I had seen pictures of celebrities looking all glamorous so decided I could try this look with my hair, adding serum through the roots and curling the ends, this is where the Remington product comes into play and here are my thoughts.


I made my purchase of the curling wand from the Amazon website. They will cost you around the £21.99 mark and I know that you can also make the purchase from Boots and I think I have even seen the curling wand in Superdrug so they are readily available. I have found that the price is very reasonable; in fact when I began looking for this product, I was shocked to see just how low in price they were, especially compared to hair straightening products.


The curling wand came with a one year manufacturer's guarantee and a detailed set of instructions. The wand is quite vibrant in colour and has a purple handle and a chrome looking wand. The wand is very easy to grip when it is in use and the handle has a curved section to fit your hand into really well. The wand will heat up to a temperature of up to 180c which is great as my hair doesn't seem to react to anything less than this temperature. I also like that there is a variable temperature control, whilst I have to have it quite hot, there is the option to lower it if you need to.


There are a few accessories that come with the styling wand, there is some sectioning clips which I have to admit I have never used but I have used the brush and small compact mirror that come with the set. There is a switch that you need to push to on and then you are ready to go. The first thing that I noticed was that the wand seemed to take a little bit of time to heat up, it soon got there but I would have liked to have seen it heat up after a couple of minutes as opposed to 3 or 4.


Once the wand had heated up I found it really easy to use and also safe, when using other heated hair appliances I have been known to snag my finger! The hair appliance is one that does work well, I have found that it is better to work with smaller sections of the hair as opposed to big ones and if you hold the hair in place for about 10 seconds it will shape the hair into a loose curl, as my hair is quite thick, it did used to take me some time to get used to it as it was taking me some amount of time but I am now much more confident with the tongs and can style my hair in 10 - 15 minutes.


I would have no problem in recommending this product, it is really good at getting the curls into your hair and overall it is very efficient but I would like to see it get warmer that little bit quicker.
