Remington CI95 Pearl Wand
Advantages: Reasonably priced
Disadvantages: No clamp!
Just by reading my other reviews you will know that I'm obsessed with hair and beauty products and this review is no different. This review centres around the Remington CI95 Pearl Wand which is an innovative hair curler which I recently purchased from Boots following a recommendation from a friend. My hair is really long and thin meaning that attempting to style it is time consuming and usually ends up a stressful affair even when using the GHD but this new find has had a profound effect on my hair.
The actual look and design of the curler is sleek and modern. It is reflective black in colour and also has a small floral design which makes it look really girly. It has a digital screen which incorporates the latest technology the screen itself is small and displays the temperature of the wand.
The curler is by Remington, this company is very reputable and has had many years in the hair and beauty industry even many hairdressers endorse their products. The description boasts that the wand has 'precious pearl power' which means that the plates do not snag on the hair which I find is a real advantage as it is smooth and pain free. The curler also uses ceramic plates but the 'precious pearl power' means that curls last longer than normal ceramic plates. When I have styled my hair using the curler I find that curls stay in for 6-7 hours before falling limp as long as I use hairspray to aid the stay power.
Unlike other curling tongs the wand does not have a clamp which holds your hair in place, I'm not sure whether or not this is an advantage as sometimes, when holding the cool tip in place I can get too close to the wand and end up burning myself! Talking of burning myself, the temperature of the want can reach heights of 210°C and lows of 130°C, you can control this which I find is a big advantage but usually use the highest temperature as I find this curls my hair better.
The wand is very practical as it has a 3m cord meaning it can stretch across rooms and is also a big plus if you are wanting to use the curler in a salon. The professionalism of the product is pronounced indefinitely by the fact that it heats up in just 30 seconds which means no waiting around, as soon as you decide you want to curl your hair you're ready to go and when you've finished? It only takes a few minutes to cool down!
One of the great features of this wand is the automatic shutdown mode it has, after an hour it automatically shuts off which is great for me as I tend to be very forgetful so this gets me out of trouble! All of these great features could be yours for £24.40 from Amazon which I think is very reasonably priced as the wand does produce salon results at home. The curls are barrel type curls which look great for any occasion! Along with the wand you also get a heat proof pouch which protects furniture.
Overall I think this wand is a great curler with the only draw backs being the lack of a clamp for the hair. The process is very quick and easy and suitable for even complete hair novices. I award this wand 4 stars.
Summary: A reasonably priced curling wand which few disadvantages!
