Advantages: Fantastic root list, saves time on separate drying and styling, ease of use
Disadvantages: On longer layered hair, you may find some strands of hair escaping your intended style
For years I have struggled to figure out a way of drying my hair and styling it at the same time. I have naturally curly but fine hair and have always found it difficult to dry my hair with a traditional hairdryer without it either going frizzy or being completely flat. What made this so different was its ability to give me volume at the roots whilst drying the rest of the length fairly straight.
The large size of the brush is great for getting the lift at the roots, and with a bit of hairspray it will stay all day. It also has a cable that swivels, so while you're turning the brush the wire isn't getting twisted up. The styler also comes with a 3 year guarantee - something I needed when the brush kept overheating. On the upside, I know the safety cut-out works! I have had none of the same problems with my replacement.
I have used this when my hair was both long and short. I had my hair in a graduated bob, and I found this styler fantastic in giving a big boost of body on top, whilst also shaping the bob just as I wanted. My hair is now much longer, and while it is still a fantastic tool I find it harder to get the shape I want all the way through the hair. The roots and the ends are fine, as the brush has something to hold onto, but the middle lengths of my hair are layered and I find that with the brush being round, there's just not enough surface area on the brush to stop the hair curling up.
I have really only found one drawback to this product. As the hot air all comes from inside the brush, and you are generally going to have the barrel underneath your hair and close to your head, as your hair starts to dry the strands on top tend to be blown away from the dryer and the rest of your hair. Again, I guess you might not have this issue if your hair is not layered. To combat this problem, I just run my straighteners through the problem areas on a fairly low heat afterwards to smooth out any rogue strands of hair.
Generally though, I'd give this a big thumbs up. It leaves my hair shiny and has drastically cut down on the time I spend drying and then styling my hair. It is great value, I paid £25 for this and think it's definitely worth the money.
Summary: A good buy and fantastic value, especially for styles shorter than shoulder length.
