Advantages: Powerful motor, 16 speed settings plus turbo speed, whisk, chopper attachment and jug
Disadvantages: None, this thing is absolutely perfect
Having been a chef prior to my days as a full time dad, I like to make sure I have the best when it comes to kitchen equipment; I have a good set of knifes, I have good pots and pans & I have an array of little gadgets for making food preparation easier. I came across this blender when I was looking for a good deal on kitchen gadgets, and I have to say I got an amazing deal on this, Argos were having a sale on and I bought it for £25.99, quite remarkable considering the RRP is £51 and you can now get it from amazon.co.uk for £45.91 including postage.
==What's in the Box ==
1 x 650w Blender
1 x Whisk Attachment
1 x Chopper Attachment
1 x 1.7 Litre Jug
1 x Double Action Blender Attachment with Protective Cover
When the blender arrived I was surprised at how big it was, especially with the blender attachment attached, I thought "This is a beast!". It is so chunky and feels so robust that it could handle almost anything you throw at it. The grip and the buttons are made of rubber, so it feels very comfortable to hold, not that you will be holding it for long, as this thing makes light work of any blending task.
The blender has a powerful 650w motor and 16 different speed settings, plus a turbo speed setting. These buttons are located at the top of the handle, along with the "On/Off button", allowing you to change through the different speeds while you chop/whisk/blend. The motor is powerful enough to perform any chopping task for a good length of time(not that time is a factor here when you consider the speed in which this handy device performs its work).
Changing attachments on the blender is really simple, the different attachments just slot in a click into place. When you want to change an attachment you just press the two release buttons on either side and the attachment just drops out.
The blender attachment has a double action blade so it gives whatever you're chopping a nice all round cut, most blenders have a blade that spins round, this one does that, plus it goes up and down, which cuts down your chopping time considerably.
The chopper attachment is something I use when making smoothies and shakes, it is probably the most used attachment other than the whisk. I have put ice in there, nuts etc, there is nothing that I've put in the chopper attachment that I haven't managed to make light work of. The chopping compartment will hold approximately two pints of liquid, so handy if your making a shake for two. This attachment fits onto the blender exactly the same way as all the other attachments.
The whisk attachment makes really light work of eggs, potatoes, cake mixture, I have used it a lot to make really light and fluffy scrambled eggs(sheer laziness really when I have a perfectly good hand whisk in the drawer).
The kit also comes with a 1.7 Litre jug, which not only can you use to store a substantial amount of liquid, but also it doubles up as a storage facility for your blender when not in use. I tend not to use it for that though, as I keep my blender in a drawer where it is easy to grab when I need it.
The blender attachments clean very well in hot soapy water and are dishwasher safe, I recommend wiping the blender with a damp cloth due to the electrical parts on it.
I think I made the right choice when purchasing this blender, it is something I use on a regular basis for making smoothies and milkshakes for the little one and also soups and cakes. This is one gadget I could not live without in my kitchen. I have had it for 6 months now and I think the amount of use I have had out of it, it's really paid for its self already, even if I didn't get it for the price I paid for it, I would still consider buying it. Even with the weight of it(it is quite heavy for a blender), the comfortable grip more than makes up for that and you don't even think about how heavy it is. I have tried other cheaper alternatives in the past and they haven't really lasted that long(maybe I am just too heavy handed), but I can certainly see this one lasting for a good while yet.
