Since joining my local Slimming world last year I have fell in love with cooking all over again, I guess I got being on a strict diet makes you prepare your meals from scratch and create dishes that do require more cooking. I am lucky enough to have my own food processor but I found most dishes it was a case of buying something simple like a chicken breast or mince and making a sauce to go with them and on occasions it was a lot of hassle getting my food processor out so I invested in a Hand blender, after looking around I opted for the Russell Hobbs 18508 Desire model and here are my thoughts.
I brought my hand blender from Tesco. I had a look around and it happened to be on offer when I purchased it, it was down to £19.99, this was half the price I had seen the hand blender for in some places so was glad of the purchase. I live by a larger Tesco store but and so there it a good stock of electrical items but you can also buy this on their website as well as places like Curry's, Comet and Amazon. £19.99 was really the most I wanted to pay and so I took my new product home and gave it a go.
The blender is black in colour and has a height of 43cm and 22cm in depth. It works off 400w of power. I found that when I went to plug the product in there was plenty of flexible cord to allow you to work safely with it. I would estimate there to be at least 100 cm of cord. Straight away I could feel that the hand blender was comfy in my hands, it had a good grip to the middle section and so when in use I felt really comfy using it. The mixer can deal with a capacity of up to 1.5 litres and has stainless steel blades that soon get to work on your ingredients.
I found that the mixer was really easy to use; there are two speed settings that come with the blender, one being quicker than the other. I find that I use the quick setting mainly; it seems to get to grips with the mixtures that bit easier. When I say get to grips, I find that I chop my ingredients into quite chunky pieces to start with and then use the blender to turn them into liquid. I make quite a few sauces that include larger and harder vegetables, they are soon liquidised by this blender and it does this with minimal effort really. The softer foods that I use with this blender are soon turned into liquid. There is also minimal noise with this blender, there is a slight noise which you would expect but nothing to overpowering.
The blender components are all dishwasher safe and there is an eject button that allows you to remove the element safely, when putting them back in there is also a safety lock that comes with this product.
I have no complaints at all with this product, I have been especially pleased at how it does tackle the larger products, I have even put pieces of meat that have been quite thick and it has chopped through these. The blender is not a processor so I guess you just need to learn how the blades in this blender work when it comes to the size of the ingredients.
In summary, I think this is an excellent product and I am happy to recommend it. I think this is a great price product and I have already got value for money with mine and it is an effective and efficient working blender
4 out of 5 from me
Thank you for reading
Summary: An excellent hand blender
