Dove Luscious Velvet Beauty Cream Wash
by alyson29
Whilst I would not previously considered myself to be loyal to any particular brand when it came to hand washes, my latest purchases have been those belonging to Dove especially as I've been able to obtain them on special offer. I always consider Dove products to be of an exceptionally high quality in additional to being very luxurious ... to use without the designer price tag. I've tried a few of their different beauty cream washes with this review discussing Luscious Velvet.
I must admit that whilst I normally unscrew the lids of toiletries prior to making my purchase so that I can take a sneaky sniff, I simply placed this one into my basket at Superdrug, so I had no idea of the aroma. I find the appearance of Dove products to be very appealing to the eye, as they offer a sense of calm and relaxation due to the pure white packaging together with a contrasting colour, dependent upon the aroma.
The sturdy plastic curvaceous bottle provides us with 250 ml of product and whilst the majority of Dove products offer touches of blue, Luscious Velvet offers a deep pink contrast on both the label and dispensing unit. I am of the opinion that Dooyoo's image, as displayed above, is considerably dated. I am unfortunate to suffer with problematic skin on my hands, which becomes very dry and as a result, will often split and bleed. Consequently, I am very careful these days with my purchases of hand washes, as I am finding that many of those that I would previously enjoy using are exacerbating my problem. As the hand wash contains a quarter of moisturising cream, I felt assured that it would be gentle and caring for my skin as my experience of the brand has always been highly positive.
Some brands of hand washes can offer rather large and cumbersome dispensing units, but the beauty cream wash contains a small unit enabling the bottle to appear luxurious when stored next to the wash hand basin. It is effortlessly pressed down where a sufficient amount is dispensed with none of the hand wash dripping from the small aperture following each use. The consistency of the wash is similar to that of a thick body lotion and whilst the majority of the Dove products that I have used are of a pure white colour, Luscious Velvet offers a pale pink hue similar to that of Johnson's Baby Lotion.
I had anticipated a very delicate floral aroma due to the cream wash containing the fragrance of amber and oriental flower. However, its strength became evident when it quickly created a lather following the introduction of water. Despite the wash containing a high level of perfume, I found it extremely favourable in additional to being authentic and was surprised at its intensity, so clearly a considerable amount of fragrance has been used although I cannot speak of it causing any adverse effects to my skin.
I found the cream wash to be very luxurious and caring to my skin, as it effectively removed any dirt and grime and after rinsing away the surface was wonderfully soft and smooth. I generally need to use hand cream after washing my hands, particularly as my skin often feels tight and a little itchy. However, I did not always feel the need when using this gorgeous beauty cream wash, so it clearly contains a good level of moisturising properties, which according to the long list of ingredients contained on the reverse of the bottle, is down to the glycerine.
I favoured the fact that the beautiful aroma of amber and oriental flower lingered on my skin a good while after use, which has resulted in me making a further purchase at Superdrug where it has been discounted from its normal price of £2.29 to £1.13. Whilst the full price is rather expensive for a hand wash, it oozes quality and is very caring for my skin and for that reason it receives a high recommendation together with five stars.

Cuticura Original Hand Hygiene Gel
by MsTricia
On my last Sainsburys trip I was able to find some absolute bargains as I got about 8 name brand products for little over 2 quid as they were clearing out lots of stock. One of the items I picked up was this Cuticura Original Hand Hygiene Gel.
It comes in a clear plastic bottle, with a dark blue flip top lid with a small hole ... through which it is possible to squeeze the gel out. The gel itself is clear like water and a really simple hand cleaning gel. It has that usual medicinal/antiseptic smell which is quite strong but I guess it means its working and is actually killing the bacteria lingering on my hands!
The gel is easy to use, it is reasonable thick like a 'gel' but it is slightly runnier than expected and it doesn't feel to greasy at all. A small blob about the size of a 5 pence piece is more than enough to spread over both my hands meaning this will last me a good length of time! I like this product as it absorbs into my hands well without leaving them clammy or sticky.
The packaging states it kills 99.99% of bacteria fast and is a fast effective, hygienic alternative to washing hands when soap and water are not available and I wholeheartedly agree. I do really like this brand and I have used the citrus variety in the past so I knew what to expect and that I would get good value for money. Although of course there is no way for me to be 100% sure it has cleaned my hands of 99.99% bacteria, it gives me peace of mind that my hands are cleaner and I find it leaves my hands very refreshing with no need for an additional hand cream afterwards. The bottle also states on the front that it is good for the family and I have had no qualms when out in restaurants to use this with my 3 year old and she has had no reaction to it, so the formula is quite gentle.
I would definitely recommend this hand gel as my hands genuinely feel refreshed and clean after use. I bought a 100ml bottle for a BARGAIN of 31p (I know, me and my scrimping!) and it is not too bulky so still fits in my handbag and I know I will get lots of use from it. Gets 5 stars from me! Dove pro age Hand Cream
by springtide
We have been doing a serious deep clean of our apartment recently and this coupled with doing a lot of sewing , adapting old canvas varnish covers into patterns for new ones , has resulted in my hands needing a bit of extra care. In fact a lot of extra care!.
Dove pro-age nourishment hand cream caught my eye whilst I was ... shopping in Morrisons and as it was on half price offer I thought I would give it a try. It is designed to nourish and help mature skin repair itself while reducing the appearance of age spots of which I have a few not so much on my hands but on my forearms due to working outside for many years in hot climates.
The container is a simple rather fat tube of a burgundy colour which makes it stand out from others in the range. The top is a clear plastic flip up type with a satisfying click when it closes. On the front of the tube it says that it contains Deep Care complex and on the reverse amongst the ingredients in many languages we are told that it contains Deep Care complex with ntaural skin nutrients and rich essential oils. All good things, also it is dematologically tested.
According to the Dove web site its " AHAs, Vitamin B3 and natural skin lipids, nourishes your skin and invigorates its natural renewal process deep down*.
Using the cream.
I try to apply hand cream every night but I have been using this more often due to my hands getting so very dry, mainly because of the canvas. The top flips up easily and the lovely fresh, almost fruity fragrance greets you. The cream is pure white and has quite a fluid nature, It is almost instantly absorbed into my skin and leaves them perfumed and without any stickiness. They instantly feel nourished and for the sake of this review I tried the cream on my face and neck a few times as well. I have to report that it did sting just a little but containing AHA I was not surprised by this but it did not irritate my hand at all.
Do my hands look younger?
I would love to say yes but that would be stretching the truth. The age marks may have faded a tiny bit but my arms are now a little browner than three weeks ago so it is hard to tell.
My Opinion
I t certainly is a nice hand cream but only for everyday use and the scent is fresh and yet comforting. I need something more hard working at the moment for very dry hands but normally I would be tempted towards this cream if it was on special offer. I am unsure about the claim for reducing age spots, don't hope for too much but just enjoy a rather luxurious hand cream with a lovely scent.
4 out of 5 stars from me.
My 75ml tube cost 1.75 pounds at half price from Morrisons.
