Asda Essentials Reviving Thyme Hand Wash
Advantages: A gorgeous smelling and effective hand wash
Disadvantages: None for me
I seem to be forever purchasing hand washes, as they don't seem to last very long in our household. Whilst we will often use more expensive brands, particularly when we have visitors, I tend to purchase the more reasonably priced products for every day use. However, I am quite picky with the brands I buy as I always like to use a beautifully fragranced wash that will linger on my hands after use and I need to ensure that it's not drying, particularly as I suffer problems with my hands during the winter months.
A few months ago whilst I was browsing the huge beauty aisle in Asda my eyes captured their Essentials range, which offers bathing, showering and hand washing products. The bottles were extremely eye-catching with their bright colours and on carefully unscrewing the lids I was smitten by a few of their fragrances. Consequently, a purchase was made of their Reviving Thyme Hand Wash and this review discusses my experience with using it.
The pretty coloured purple wash is contained within a 500 ml curvy opaque plastic container and Asda have provided a sufficient amount of cerise and purple coloured marketing text to offer a pleasing appearance. If I am honest, the aroma of thyme didn't particularly appeal to me and it was the packing that first captured my attention. I googled "thyme" as the aroma didn't fit with my initial thoughts as I had expected it to offer a herby fragrance and I was surprised to learn that thyme was used for embalming in Ancient Egyptian times. I further discovered that thyme is used for medicinal purposes and can be found in many of the products that we use on a daily basis such as mouth washes. However, the aroma delivered by the hand wash is delicately floral and whilst Asda have not declared that they have added other fragrances, I believe this to be the case.
The large pump dispenser fits tightly onto the top of the bottle and I am mentioning this as I have recently used a different brand of hand wash where the top continually fell off, so I had no choice but to decant the thick liquid into a china dispenser. This was a little frustrating as one of the reasons for my purchase was that the bottle itself was stunning. Only one press is needed to dispense the good consistency hand wash, which creates a good lather whilst easily spreading over the skin and it is highly effective in removing all traces of grease, dirt and grime. It rinses away with little effort and leaves behind its wonderful aroma, which is left lingering on my hands for a good while afterwards.
I have used a few different hand washes from this range and have found them all to be considerably mild and gentle as they left my hands feeling soft and smooth. I've not suffered with any adverse effects when using and whilst some people may find the hand wash sufficiently moisturising, it wasn't quite enough for me, so it is necessary for me to apply hand cream after use.
I am not intending to discuss ingredients other than for the fact that the hand wash is suitable for vegetarians. Whilst this is never a concern in our household, the hand wash should be used within 24 months of opening with the bottle being recyclable once empty. Asda Essentials Reviving Thyme Hand Wash is available in 500 ml bottles and costs just 55p, which is excellent value for money and most definitely receives a recommendation from me.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
