“ Brand: Asda / Type: Hand Wash / Suitable for: Hand / What it does: Refreshes, „
Whilst in Asda recently buying some groceries, I thought I would buy some more handwash and came across the Asda essential care range of handwashes. I usually buy the carex handwashes, however whilst comparing the price and size to that of an Asda own brand, I thought I would make a change and try Asda's, as it also seemed much better value.
There are quite a few different varieties to choose from in the Asda own brand handwash range, such as original or moisturising or anti-bacterial. I chose the "fresh anti-bacterial" option from the shelf, as I think it is important to stop the spread of germs so this seemed the ideal option. On the front of the packaging it claims that this handwash "kills 99.9% of bacteria", so I was happy to give this a go.
The bottle itself is a 400ml bottle, slightly curved in appearance and has semi-transparent white packaging. I would say considering this is the "budget" option, it certainly doesn't show it from the outside, and would look smart in any bathroom. It is also quite bright in appearance which is great for bathrooms, as they don't need yet another dull looking product sat there!
The liquid itself, is released by a pump-style lid, and on this lid I also noticed it has an "open" or "close" function which not many handwashes have, so I guess this is ideal if you want to store it after already opening it. I would say 1-2 squirts of this are enough per use.
"Helps remove germs and bacteria"
"PH balanced and with added moisturisers"
"Leaves hands feeling soft, clean and smooth"
The handwash itself is a pale green colour, and has a slightly disappointing consistency which is quite watery, meaning it also doesn't lather up well. It's difficult to tell whether this handwash actually does remove germs and bacteria as it claims, especially as I personally find it a little watered down in consistency to be that effective in doing so. Although it does have a refreshing apple like smell which is a pleasant smell, it doesn't particularly stay on my skin for very long afterwards like you would find with Carex handwashes. My other downside with this product is it really does dry your hands out! Not what you want from a product you need to use several times a day.
Price, is perhaps the handwashes greatest positive, at just 98p for 400ml (my usual carex handwash is £1.50 for 100ml!). One bottle of this would certainly suit a family bathroom or a workplace whereby it would receive regular use. Having said that, given it does leave my hands dry and doesn't really lather up very well it's not a product I am going to purchase again. It is great if you are on a budget, however doesn't give high quality results. Unfortunately in this case, a cheaper price really did mean cheaper results.
